  1. I'm not super computer literate, SO I really liked cruise-ship.com's layout. Once you put in your ship, date, days, and ports, it added them all up, told you how many cruise lines, ship and ports, you've been on, how many days all together, etc. I could probably do an excel spreadsheet, but it would take me days to get it right! I was hoping for something easier, and relatively simple, not needing costs, airports, and other details.

  2. I recently tried to log onto cruise-ships.com, where I keep track of my cruises. They seemed to have shut down and the domain name is for sale. How does everyone else keep track of their details? Date, cruise line, ship name, how many days, ports, etc?

  3. Not sure if this is the right forum, so feel free to move it, admins!

I'm going out on Adventure on July 17, from Nassau. There aren't any scuba dives in Cozumel, only single tank ones on Coco Cay. I've contacted Maple Leaf Scuba in Cozumel to see about doing a 2 tank dive and they seem very accommodating. If anyone else is interested, perhaps we can go together, maybe arrange transportation, if Maple Leaf can't provide.

  5. I will agree with the above posts. I have dived in Grand Turk, and it is amazing. You might not appreciate it, as a beginner, you're sometimes more focused on your buoyancy, technique and air, than the "scenery".

I usually only bring my mask, fins, and dive log on a cruise. Bring a towel, dry shirt, tip money, credit card, and ID's along. I have a water wallet, in case I decide I should have my valuables on me when I dive, but that's not often. Oh, you'll need more weight on you in salt water, than fresh, too.

Also, you should mention to your dive master, and/or dive buddy, that you aren't very experienced, so they can keep an extra eye out for you, just to be safe. I do this if I haven't dove in a while.

  6. I am only looking for cruises that have rooms for single travelers. When I do the "Find a Cruise" there are never options for a single person type of cabin, only the usual "inside, ocean view, balcony, suite". I had been hearing that cruise lines had been catering more to singles, and haven't been "punishing" singles with 2 person room rates.

  7. Just got back, I thought the Dutch side was getting kind of seedy, and absolutely HATED the aggressiveness of the skin care salespeople. Took a bus (2$ per) to the French side. Still devastated, marketplace way down in number of vendors, and mostly towels, cheap shirts, and dresses. Food places don't have the variety, or quality they used to have, VERY disappointed!

  8. Just got back on the 26th. Very disappointed. The shopping area on the Dutch side is getting 'seedy', and the obnoxious people from L'Core, and other skin crème stores are so aggressive! The French side is still devastated, the open market was sparse, and the restaurants there, I used to love, are not as good. Selection of food/drink is down, and quality, not as good either.

I'd recommend going to the beach!

  9. I always hear stories form some folks that live near cruise ports that very last minute cruises are sometimes available for very good rates. How does one go about requesting info on these? Do you have to go through travel agents, or the cruise lines themselves? Or online agents? Do they also accept a single cruiser?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Was onboard...it was not as bad as some say. One partially sleepless night, no seasickness, and a slow return to port. I wouldn't hesitate to return to NCL and Breakaway. I know some folks had a more harrowing experience, but for most, it wasn't that bad.

  11. I was on board, room 5806. While I had a partially sleepless night, and this was probably the worst weather I've experienced on a cruise, I was never in great fear. But we only experienced a few things sliding off the desk and table in the room. I do agree that communication was lacking, but Neither myself, nor my GF, got seasick. The next day, we slowed down considerably, which is why we arrived late, and the ride was relatively smooth. For being in such a storm.

But it's not so terrible I wouldn't take another cruise, or stay away from the BA.

  12. This might seem unusual, but I've never kept track of my past cruises, except a few really memorable ones. I was wondering if one could find out from the cruise lines that they've been on, where and when it was. My girl and I argue about how many we've been on and where, all the time. I'd like to start a log on my computer to keep track (20+ cruises, I think)

We're only members of a couple lines' "clubs", so they are easy to research.

  13. Wow, lots of great advice! I will look into the options. I did have a United airlines card, but between lousy customer service, and tons of mix ups in trying to get flights, that one is out. My Royal card is from BofA, as well as my checking acct., so I can easily get a better card from them.

    Thank you all!

  14. I have a Royal Carib credit card, but by the time I got almost up to the point of getting a cruise (5-6 years!), they started taking away my points as fast as they were giving them. Are there any cruise rewards cards that are more generous? Or don't take away points, or miles after a certain time?
