  1. If you're on a Viking Cruise, you will not need a taxi unless you venture on your own away from cruise planned activities, but tip change is needed for bus drivers and tour guides. If you are doing a pre or post cruise, you may us a taxi there, but Amsterdam is easy to get around on foot if you enjoy walking and public transportation is also great. Lucerne would require Swiss francs, and yes,  I agree, Switzerland is very expensive in.

  2. We stayed at Pullman Parison on the post-extension of our Viking Avignon to Lyon cruise.

Standing on the bridge a half block from the hotel, I was able to get these pictures in October of 2015.

Got our documents on Wednesday last week and we will see you at the Pullman in Paris on the 29th!

  4. We are from Texas. We have had great luck in previous trips meeting really friendly folks from the NE, albeit none from Maine. My mother's favorite aunt was slightly younger than she was, so I know that can happen.

Usually all guests are at the same hotel. We are at the Pullman Paris, which has a great location near the Eiffel Tower. We are not on the pre-extension but we are coming in two nights early since we using miles to get there and going earlier worked better.

I am really hoping that we are at the Pullman as well. We have gotten notifications from Viking on all our other hotels, but not the Paris one. I have booked a night tour of the Eiffel Tower and was hoping to be able to walk back to the hotel after. Safe travels, see you in Paris!

  5. That's great. We are Steve and Sally Rhodes.

Photography is my passion. You can see pictures of our previous trips here:

Here is our picture in Lisbon from our trip last year to Portugal on Viking. Looking forward to meeting you two!

We are Lou and Sue Grenier from Maine. We are traveling with our niece and nephew (same age as us) which is a first for us. I saw in another post that you are also taking the Paris and the Heart of Normandy cruise. Lou and I took it in 2013, it was a very memorable experience, especially the Normandy Beaches.

We will be looking forward to meeting you, perhaps in Paris if we are in the same hotel.

  6. We have been on 5 river and 1 ocean cruise, all on Viking, which we love. We will be going on the Paris To the Swiss Alps cruise on July 29 this year. We know several people whose first Viking trip was this one. They loved it and have since booked other Viking voyages.

My husband and I are also going on this cruise on July 29th. This will be our 4th Viking River cruise. I have been looking around to see reviews of the extension to Zermatt and Geneva, and was pleasantly surprised to see your post. Hope to see you on board.
