Spoke to Cunard who have confirmed to me they will not know which port they are using until 21 days before departure. Our TA will keep check and will let us know so we can then decide on hotel 👍 

Thanks again , it looks like the  voyage that I’m on embarks Tokyo so that would be a result .👍 Doesn’t mention Yokohama like some voyages I looked at just now . Lots of planning to do and will try learn some simple phrases of the Japanese language . We fly into Haneda and booked in the Park hotel in Shiodome

taxis in Tokyo are expensive but much easier with luggage taxiing from dock directly to hotel. As I recall several years ago we paid around $75 taxi Yokohama main dock ( farther than daikoku where QE docks) to Sheraton in Minato-ku. Your hotel could probably give u an estimate if u contact concierge. 

otherwise u will need to walk or taxi to subway station, change in Yokohama station into tokyo, perhaps change subways again to your hotels local station, and walk or taxi to your hotel. 
 

Enjoy japan. It is a fascinating country and if u can squeeze in a few more days pre or post cruise, consider it. 
 

note, I took the QE circumnavigation in April 2023 and Cunard had complimentary shuttles in every port. There was even an unpublished shuttle from the big park in Yokohama to daikoku. Sorry forgot name of park but if h can find roll call for April 19,2023 QE circumnavigation, there is detailed info. 

Hi that would be good . I have hotel booked for Tokyo 1 night at the start but thinking of changing this to Yokohama instead as easier after long flight in .

Hi I’m interested in these threads re Japan . We are booked on the QE for April/May24 circumnavigating Japan . First time from UK to Japan and cruise. Is it easy enough travelling with luggage from cruise port into Tokyo after our cruise disembarks .  We have 3 days in Tokyo , and understand taxis are expensive . Happy doing trains if easy  enough . Thank you for any information . Will be appreciated. 

Great report , interesting that no covid test needed on arrival in Brooklyn . Is that still the same as of 3/6/22

We sail 22/6/22 from Hamburg and Cunard said day before . We are booked into a test centre in Hamburg on 21st June 

We are also on this crossing and fly into Hamburg on 20th June . Not booked hotel yet but understand only need LFT 24 hrs before observed or PCR 48 hrs. 
Hopefully will find somewhere to go in Hamburg . The airport I believe have some  testing centres but we will need one in town . Any advice appreciated. Thanks . 

Cunard told me that once you are on board there is no testing until you reach NY. 
 

In 2017 we disembarked NY but not self disembarked and stayed a night before catching the train to Chicago . No hassle or rush .

Hi.  
We are embarking on QM2 on 22June from Hamburg but arriving on 20th for 2 nights. Is there anywhere close to the port to get an antigen test done . I believe it has to be observed ? Thought we may stay close to the port in Hafencity. 
Any other advice appreciated thanks l.

Yes, we’re on the 23rd July sailing so it’s black and white night.

 

I do have a black and white long dress but I still have much lovelier dresses in bright colours which I’d rather wear and after living in casual clothes for a year I’m disappointed that I can’t wear one of my nicest gowns.

Hi, on a TA crossing in 2017 we had Roaring 20’s and Black and White Ball. 
I wore long black dress and white choker. But wore other colours on other nights . I loved it 

We will be travelling to Southampton from Essex and may well be catching trains and tube . Will be our first time on a TA early Aug . Considered travelling by train night before and staying close by and also been checking out Taxi firms cheapest so far £140. ! Will be making a decision nearer the time .

Thanks for a very informative review . We are sailing 4/8 to New York and this will be our first time .
