  1. Are the forts a "must" for SJ? I know the views will be great, but wondering if it's "worth" going up in late July! We'll only be in port from 7am-1pm so it's not a lot of time. Is the rest of SJ walking tour a viable option or will we have wished we went up to forts?? Thank you!

I would do the fort at the end, and if you only have time for one visit go to El Morro, or you can drive by in the trolley (both of them)

  2. Old SJ has a few small hills and the cobblestone are uneven, other member mentioned the trolley and using a cab. These are my favorites places in old SJ: Visit/tour La Fortaleza, tickets are free get them few bldgs before the mansion to the left, visit Casa Blanca (original governor mansion built by Juan Ponce de Leon), visit El Morro Fort and St. Cristobal, visit Calle Capilla Cristo, and the Paloma Park next to it, Catedral (next to Hotel El Convento), my favorites street go down either calle Sol or Luna, go thru the walkway around city and gate

  3. Thank you all so much! The hotel will let us drop the bags there. My only issue with that is we woyld have to get a taxi ride back up there (it is right next to the airport) and then get back down to old san juan, then back again. At $20 each way, that's jusnt not financially reasonable. I'm going to try to go with that restaurant and take it from there!

    Thanks again!

Hi The hotel you are staying in Isla Verde (next to the airport) all you need to do is go to the hotel leave your baggage, and outside the hotel you will find the bus stop that will take you to old SJ for 1.00 have quarters, on your way back you can take the same bus or take a taxi. One bus will take you thru Condado the other one thru the city. There are two buses that take you to old SJ ask the hotel the numbers it been a while and I know the numbers has changed
