  1. It is so overly complex that I get the feeling that they are not happy that we all understand their current system.

They WANT us to be confused and feel like newbies. :(

I attended the webinar on this subject - we are D+ and have cruised other lines. In the field for over 10 years with travel - it confused the heck out of me!

  2. Is there a time limit for this? We booked around Feb 15 and paid in full on Feb 27. I looked earlier today and it's down about $150. We did have an onboard credit of $50 as part of booking. Just call and ask for a refund of the difference?

If you are after final payment DATE you are out of luck - if you paid in full early before final payment you can still get an adjustment. Ask the rep if you will loose your obc before making the change - they will tell you. If its down $150 and you have $50 obc credit and loose it - your still $100 ahead

  3. Just cked it out - your right - there is an 8 night before you - June 6-14 - then nothing until yours leaving a Gap - it would be very strange for any cruiseline to leave a ship empty for 4 nights without any revenue. My guess is its chartered for 4 nights. why not call whoever you booked with to try to find out ?

  4. Just looking at the itinerary for my upcoming cruise and notice that the ship docks at the embarkation port 4 days before my cruise...The rest of the itinerary shows the boat pretty much docking and embarking again on the same day. Is there usually a reason for this gap?!? Change of crew maybe?!? Just thinking it may mean getting on the ship early if no passengers are disembarking that day :)

which cruise are you talking about - could it mean there is a 4 day itinerary before your sailing?

  5. Prices are stupid high. I wouldnt mind going someday but not at 1800.00+ for a 5 night cruise in an inside cabin on a almost 30 year old ship. I will pass for now

Have to agree - expensive and still alot of restrictions

  6. A TA that I usually end up having to push a little bit, last year I had to convince them that royal would do a regular reprice, and they kept telling me that royal doesn't allow it. So im just trying to see if its possible before I talk to them. I wouldn't have used them again but I couldnt beat the price anywhere. If its a cheap trip I usually book direct so i can deal with everything myself, however on the higher cost cruises the benefits outweigh the hassle.

Sounds like your TA doesn't want to reprice you because everytime she/he does the commission is lower and they loose $$

  7. You better check with the state department. To my knowledge you must have a passport for international travel...

Original birth certificate w/raised seal and government issued ID (drivers license etc0 for cruise is OK but to clarify - Passport is required for international travel and should she have an emergency on the cruise outside the US she will be unable to fly home without a passport

  8. They booked through a TA. The TA sold them a guarantee cabin and should have explained that they were only guaranteed the minimum available inside stateroom with a location to be determined at a later date and may include being next to or under noisy areas. A good TA would have asked questions about their clients that may have led to selecting a specific cabin or area and avoided the uncertainty that comes with a guarantee cabin. They did not book directly with the cruise line, their cabin location should not be the fault of Royal.

I find it hard to believe if anyone doesn't know what a guarantee purchase is that they will fail to ask that question. You just turn over your money not knowing what you are buying??

The TA sold the cabin - the TA did not assign the cabin - Royal Caribbean did.

  9. I have information that I just got from a reliable source at rccl headquarters that they plan to try an experiment on one ship in the near future to have no smoking in the casino. They will see how it goes and based on feedback and money spent determine if it will be a fleetwide change.

The success of this will probably depend on how much $$$ the casino makes - as a smoker - I can tell you I will be spending 1/8th of the time I would normally if this is imposed so therefore less $$$.

That was before they eliminated balcony smoking. And, yes, even then it stunk of stale smoke. Can't get that odor out in one day.

No - it wasn't - there has been no smoking on balconies for quite a while. Formal nights still were designated non smoking in the casino. Eliminating smoking on 1-2 nights spread out in the casino will certainly not eliminate the smell.

  10. I would find an new TA. Your TA sold you the cheapest cabin on the ship. They should have asked you about you preferences and habits and then chosen a cabin that avoids areas like the pool deck or food services near you if you are light sleepers. I think you pointed out your issue to RCI and they tried to make you happy. If the cruise was near capacity then they did not have many options. Ships are mechanical marvels and things are going to break and there may no be a quick fix. A poor TA is the issue here.

What has the travel agent got to do with this - from what Im reading OP booked a guarantee - cruiseline assigned.

OP - ask for what will make you happy. A meal for 2 complimentary in the specialty restaurant of your choice? X amount of OBC - whatever you think is appropriate. But Id suggest be reasonable.

  11. You if look at post #24 you may be able to see if the location has changed since you were there. It is a map of the island and where everything is now. Hope this helps. It will be our first time and so far I think we are going to get the bungalow. :D

Thanks for the response. We were in the Cabana Club Area which is #1 on the map and does not have direct beach access. You also need to be in 1st row to not have a blocked water view.

You are referring to area #29 which are beach bungalows and different than the Cabana's.

The term Barefoot Beach also confused me - Im not seeing that beach on the map

Sorry I was confused but now I know

  12. Im a little confused - OP - how many times were you moved?

From what you posted it sounded like more than once? On day 3 you say you couldn't stay in that cabin?? What was wrong with that one? and then again on day 5?

You have been offered compensation but sounds like your not satisified with the offer. You have been asked what is it your looking for but I haven't seen an answer?
