I have never used Cruise First, but have used Cruise Next a lot.  The $250 per CN comes off the total, which includes base fare, taxes, port fees, etc.  Is there such a thing as a seven day NCL cruise that has out the door pricing of less than $500?  According to CruisePlum, the cheapest total price booking currently available on NCL is a 12 day Orlando - Rome inside cabin for one passenger at $1210.

    You're right. I wasn't adding port charges.

If you usually buy inside cabins, I would recommend cruise first over cruise next.  Cruise first can always be used on any cabin so just buy one or two when you see the $500 version for sale.  That way, you always have a net $250 savings on your cruise.  Cruise next double up is not always available on inside cabins, so you're only guaranteed to be able to use one, for a $125 savings.  For the few times that they do allow double up on all cabins, then it's the same either way.  One other thing to know about the cruise first.....if you cancel and rebook the same cruise that had a cruise first, you lose the extra value of the cruise first.

But if I want just the lowest price it sounds like i won't be able to use cruise first? Is there an option to buy just one add-on so it's no longer a sail away rate?

With all these complaints, I will be curious to see if Zuiderdam's impending drydock will bring the ship up to the standard that the "23 WC's expect.  If not, the complaints herein will mushroom exponentially!

When is the planned drydock? I was ready to book the Zuiderdam 73 day Africa for 2023, but after reading this....yikes!

  4. I'm sure in the past I've used my shareholder OBCs in the casino & also for the daily gratuities. But when filling out my form tonight it states "This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities." Has anyone had recent experience using the credits for either of these items? And I imagine these credits are not refundable at the end of the cruise? Thank you.

  5. It's you buy 2 vouchers for $250 each, total of $500. They then give you $250 in obc. This makes the net cost to you $250.

If you also book a cruise on board with your vouchers they give you something additional. I believe it's an in category upgrade for free. Ie book an ID room and get upgraded to IC. It may be different now.

I don't understand, sorry. You're saying I pay $500. I get 2 certificates, each worth $250 towards the price of my next cruise. So far I'm even. Then you say I get $250 OBC--do you mean for each cert/cruise? So the price of my cruise is the same, the OBC is what I've gained?

  6. I have a question about Cruise Next certificates. I understand when onboard you can buy 2 for $250, value is $500. Are there any other discount offers while onboard? Like "buy those certificates & we'll give you OBC"? Or something? I'm pretty sure the price of a cruise itself is not discounted. Help? (FYI my friend & I are in the process of booking 2 cruises NOW. But in 2 weeks she'll be onboard an NCL cruise.) Thank you!

  7. This is odd: Last week I called Princess & the agent told me we could bring on 2 6-pks of beer per person plus 2 6-pks of soda. I told her I had never heard about bringing on beer & she said yes, we could. Well today after starting this thread I called & asked again, & as you can imagine the answer is, of course, no beer. Should've gotten her name last week but what difference would it have made?

So my updated question is: where can I buy a couple 6-packs of soda?

    TY!!

  8. For a long time, I thought you had to buy insurance through the cruise line. For a family of 5, the insurance was over $500. It just didn't seem to make financial sense to purchase it when it costs so much. But, then I learned (from this board) that I could insure our whole family for around $100 and get even better coverage than the cruise line offers. So, now, I do buy insurance.

I think people may not realize how inexpensive coverage can be if they shop around.

I'm wondering from what company you buy your insurance? I'd be willing to pay that kind of price. TY.
