  1. I liked getting two drinks and taking them to the room. One in the fridge the other to sip on the balcony.

I agree anyone with a UBP has paid the most they are going to pay. They can limit it to just wine and honestly it seems like the cruise line would make money. That would be 4 less glasses of wine to serve and not to mention cups and shorter lines at the bar.

  2. My wife and I have been on around 30 cruises with Celebrity. We are big fans, but over the past two years we have started to change our opinions. Current problem: We have been waiting for over three weeks to have a B2B discount applied to our April sailing along with a Future Cruise Certificate. My travel agent gets nothing but excuses from them, and quite frankly I don't think my agency is doing much to push the issue. You know the one, internet only agency. Been giving them lots of business also. So I will be moving on from them also. Does anyone have email and phone contact for Cpts Club. I expect they will just refer me back to my agency, but at this point I need to press the issue. We have been cruising for over 25 years and yet to find a good travel agent.

  3. If you enjoy food and wine there is a good food and wine pairing dinner. Riscoli Remessa was great! Basílica Di San Climente (Saint Clement) is really cool 11th century church, over a 3rd century church dedicated to Saint Jerome and that is over 1st century Roman ruins. We enjoyed walking there and it is self guided. We also did a bike ride on the appian way which was awesome.

  4. I have only cruised once and it was a full sailing, but it had 1 pool and 4 hot tubs for 2k people. That was really busy. It seems that the Escape has double the people but more than double the water activities. This is what I keep telling myself at least! Ha! We are sailing at a peak time. Week before Easter because I get a few days off. I guess I wondering if anyone has ever been on a cruise (NCL or similar) without crowds?

  5. Its a 'City Mouse' vs 'Country Mouse' thing. A 'crowded full elevator' depends on what your use to back home.

This is so true. Having lived abroad and majors cities the personal space thing will always be a culture clash. I live in a Midwest city and we got our first fixed rail streetcar. It is free to ride and there are days when people are like “sorry no room” And there is 2 feet between passengers. Sorry going to work you may have to touch. But I try not to be mean, but let them know I am going to work and there is room. But the passengers are not going to work on a cruise ship.

  6. Assuming someone isn’t reaching for the tongs in front of you. You may step in. I will say if I’m there getting food and someone tries to swipe in I have thrown a bow or two [emoji23] kidding! I have said excuse me and continued reaching for the tongs very politely. But quickly. If I can avoid peak hours at the squat and gobble I will do my best to do just that.

  7. We got back about a month ago. The Spirit is the oldest ship and I see why NCL has it doing such Port intensive itineraries. We loved it. We did very little in the ship. We also found the clientele to be very international, there was a lot of smoking (again not abnormal with a lot of international clientele) so the entire pool area was filled with people smoking, but the staff kept ash trays clean. Most were adult couples (large age range) but there were a good number of families with young kids. Very few teenagers. We traveled the first week of Sept. But the ship was a bit of an old beauty and great for the itinerary. The food was very good, warm flavorful and nicely presented. My biggest challenge was we ate at port then we ate on the ship. I was very thankful for the ability to get a salad at the buffet. The cocktails were well made Lol

  8. I was on the Spirit last month and that ship had half the people that the Escape does and only 1/3 of the pools. There seem to be a lot of hot tubs and such around. I’m excited to relax in the thermal spa for quiet and the pool for some cocktails and activity. I’m wondering what the docking process will be with so many people.

  9. I understand! We got back Sept 15 and I ended up booking our next cruise Sept 19. The next cruise isn’t until March so we are waiting a bit. We are on NCL and the free at sea it seriously too good of a deal. I’m a beach bum, but first cruise was in Europe so we are going to try the Caribbean this time to see how I like it compared to planting my butt in the sand at a hotel/condo.

  10. We were very happy with the overall service. Plates were cleared quickly and tables cleaned so we could sit in high demand areas outside. The staff making sure we got on and off the boat and making sure everyone had their hands cleaned. I see these services as necessary and appreciated. They always did it with a smile and in a friendly way. We were very satisfied paying the set amount. I would have felt like a bit running around tipping each person for their great service. Lol. I rather keep it simple. Personal preference. I would rather it be included in the cost rather than it being separate. Personal opinion.

  11. Someone posted on another thread the list from a previous cruise and it wasn't on that list, I can only assume that it was changed not that long ago. Unfortunately that really doesn't matter when it changed it looks like anything with a heating element might be confiscated and you probably won't win the discussion with security. The best suggestion is to pack it in your carry on, at least if they take it you won't have to go to the naughty room to get you luggage.

I took my flat iron. I always made sure to unplug it and put it in my insulated travel case. Well worth the purchase!

  12. I was on the Spirit last month. Bring a good color copy of your passport. The ship is under the flag of the Bahamas and while we were in Greece the cruise line needed to keep our passports. Immigration needed to review travelers documents upon arrival at each stop in Greece. I don’t know what other countries that would be applicable to in addition to Greece. Your passport is enough for travel in Europe. Have a great trip.
