  1. We sail on Allure on Sunday in a Grand Suite. I just got a call from RC. It was a 1-866 number, which I never typically answer, especially when I am at work and running to a meeting, but something/someone told me to answer it. Thank goodness I did! They offered me the opportunity to upgrade from a grand suite to a grand loft suite. At first I said no, not realizing it would put us in Star Class (we are pretty infrequent cruisers so am not well versed on what fits where). But then he told me it was Star Class and I quickly did the math. There are 4 of us sailing, and by the time I put in what we would pay for the beverage packages (already bought), the gratuities that Star Class includes as a perk, and a specialty restaurant, the cost to upgrade was only about $400 for all 4 of us in total! So for Star Class, that was a STEAL! So excited! I was going to try to keep it a surprise for my family until they opened up the door to the room, but I think the concierge might meet you at the pier, so that would blow the surprise.

I did ask him if I hadn't picked up the phone would he have left a message, and he said no. He said they continue to run down the list if someone doesn't answer, and if he left messages the room might be gone by the time the person called back, which would have resulted in a bad customer experience. Better to never know!

Can't believe it! We have sailed in a grand suite once before and loved it (2 years ago), so I was very happy with where we were, especially with the new suite perks, but am so excited for this room and to try out Star Class, which we will probably never do again!!

Just curious. Did you book directly through RCCL? Just wondering if one is more likely to get an upgrade offer if one books directly through Royal Caribbean as opposed to using a TA?

  2. It was my girlfriend, we're actually in different parts of Italy and meeting up tomorrow. She lost her wallet, money, credit cards, and passport. She does have a work ID and a virtual passport, like an App thing. She called Royal and they said they won't board her. Cruise leaves sunday and US embassy is closed tomorrow, she thinks her only option is to go to embassy on monday and fly to Santorini to hopefully board there. She's staying in civitavecchia, tomorrow she'll go down the RCCL office there if it's staffed on saturday.

Surely there are other options, she can't be the first to be pick pocketed a day before a cruise. She does have a work ID, she's Diamond level so taken many cruises, and I can vouch for who she is. If we can get her on the ship, I'm thinking we can get an emergency passport in Athens later in the week.

    What are the options here?

Do you have a photo copy of the passport or could one be faxed to you? With the setsail pass in hand and a copy of the passport, I was told boarding is a possibility.

I would definitely give it a try. Wishing you both the best. Praying for you both.

  3. As my DH was removing our items from the safe in preparation for departure today, he found a pair of earrings in the corner of the safe. They may be from the previous sailing or they could have been there for a period of time as they were hidden by the rim of the safe. We took the earrings to guest services and gave them to the head manager of guest services. I am posting this in the hopes that the owner will see this and call the main office in Miami, as this is where we were told the earrings would be sent. We also wrote down the stateroom number in which the earrings were found.

  4. You give your room # for CK, no wow band needed. The wow band will open the door to access the Suite "sun" deck. The wow bands only come in 4 colors, Blue, Black, White and Yellow, no special colors for Suite guests. Suite guests do have special colors for their seapass.

Does complimentary wrist band include a junior suite? In a junior suite in August.

  5. I have the 2nd to the end aft boardwalk balcony cabin overlooking the Aquatheater. The RCI rep said I might want to monitor the very end cabin to see if it becomes available (our cruise is still about 2 years away). Is there a better/easier/more efficient way to do that other than trying to do a sample booking everyday for the next year-and-a-half to see if the one of the two aft-most cabins open up?

I might be able to save you some time? Is your cruise in June 2017?:):)
