15 drinks is more than enough.  So, when I'm relaxing on my balcony listening to the ocean waves, I send DH out to the bar for my glass of wine! 😉

It's totally a personal preference.  I tend to agree with your DH, but I see your point.  I like your solution though. 😉

The 3 and 4 days out of CA tend to be pretty rowdy, sometimes more than others. I can imagine that over a three day weekend it would be extra crazy. I've done that itinerary several times but fortunately, the staff has always been great.

Kind of off subject, but I just booked my second cruise.  The first was a 7 day out of Miami during Christmas.  It was Caribbean.  I now have a 3 day booked out of Port Canaveral.  It's in October.  How do you think the party crowd will differ between the two.  I honestly didn't think of this.  I'm sure no matter what I will have a great cruise!  I'm just curious so I can prepare those traveling with me.  Thanks in advance if you have any answers. 🙂

No.  He said it was the worst cruise of his life (He likes NCL Gem....he has never liked any other cruise line or ship on NCL) but he's been on other "worst cruises of his life".  Here's the list of complaints:

    1. The food was awful.  His steak was 1 sq inch.  His salmon was also 1 sq inch.  He couldn't find anything he liked for the entire trip in any venue.

    2. The ship was rocking the entire time (from the time they left NY until they got back)

    3. The captain told everyone to sleep on the floor so they didn't roll out of bed

    4. Someone spilled wine on his white suit.  He went "somewhere" and demanded that the ship is responsible and NCL should clean his suit (it didn't happen).

    5. There was no entertainment, just a couple of comedians.

    6. They didn't stop in any ports.  (He had an inside cabin and it may just be that he never looked out a window.)

    7.  He bought the acupuncture package (3 visits) for his shoulder at a cost of $500.  But, his shoulder still hurts.

That's too bad.  Some people just look for things to go wrong.  Like all the posters on John Heald's page just disgusted by what someone else wears.  I don't believe I ever paid that much attention to what others were doing or wearing.  I just enjoyed my cruise to the fullest.  Although there was this one girl that was wearing a thong bikini.  lol My husband appreciated that.  Honestly, I didn't care.  I just laughed. 🙂 My cruise was not perfect by any means, but I had a blast.  My only real complaint is that the pop was warm and watered down by the time I got my food to go with it or my food was cold by the time I got the pop.  No worries though. I learned and will bring my own. Problem solved.

  4. Hello,

Has anyone sailed on the Liberty in room 6454 or 6452.  I see in a few pictures that the partitions can be opened between these two rooms.  However, I am told by my PVP that they cannot.  Does anyone have any experience with these two rooms that may have some insight?  Also, any pics of these two rooms would be awesome.  I've seen videos, but I'd love to see someone else's perspective.  Also, room 6450 if you have pics of it that would be great.  I appreciate any help I can get.  This will be my second cruise.

Was just on liberty in May for a 3day and did the overnight in Nassau.  Customs was pretty quick the issue was dependent on how many custom workers they have.  Also if you get a porter sometimes they can speed that process up for you.  I am getting ready to go back on liberty Sept 13th!

I'm doing this exact cruise in October 2020. I'm worried the cruise will feel rushed since it's so short.  Also, did you have a balcony? How was the view while in port? Thank in advance!

There should have been a sign stating that Diamond/Platinums and FTTF can go on through.  Yes, you should have pushed harder on the door.  You paid for this.  This is stated in FAQs regarding FTTF.

I will do that next time.  Luckily I got use out of the FTTF with the tender boats. 😉

  8. I have only been on one cruise.  I got FTTF.  The doors to the rooms where locked and a huge note telling me rooms wouldn't be ready until 1:30.  Should I have pushed harder on the door to get to my room?  I didn't try very hard since the sign was up.  I felt like I was doing something wrong.

    I would think so.

On my last cruise, we had a later flight and wanted to minimize sitting at the airport.

On last (and first) cruise I didn't know what I was doing.  I got FTTF and booked a flight at noon.  We got something in our cabin saying we could leave at 7:00am. They never said what to do if we didn't want to leave at 7:00am.  So we did and took the shuttle and waited at the airport.  Everything went smooth and the wait didn't seem as long as I thought it would. We were about 45 minutes from the airport.

I'm trying to get worked up about this, but I guess I really don't care.  Is this because Carnival wants to save money? Ok. Are the wrappers really clogging disposals? Ok. I seriously don't think it will have any effect on my cruise. I only user butter at breakfast for my grits

I'm with you.  If this is the worst part of your cruise then money well spent. 😄

I didn't feel a bit of vibration. I have heard one or two others say they had. That may be just a fluke or it may be related to location. So far I've always been on deck 7 when I have been in an aft balcony.

Thanks! I would choose a balcony on one of the upper decks.  I'm going to try a short cruise with an overnight in Nassau just to test the waters first I think. 😉

Personally I think the best balconies on the ship are the aft balconies. They are larger than the side balconies, you have a panoramic view and there is nothing as soothing as the sound of the wake. The down side is that they can get warm as there is very little breeze. I look for a floor that has cabins below and above us.

Can you feel the vibration on the aft balconies.  I really want to try one, but my husband can't stand the vibrations that we felt in the dinning room on our first cruise on the magic.

He was embarrassed by you calling them out?  I would have too!  Some people just don't get it.

Yeah he thought I was being unnecessarily rude on our first day on our first cruise.  It's just some people don't look around and see there are literally thousands of others on this ship and a lot of us want to do the same things you do.  First come first serve! The world does not revolve around you.

This type of arrogant behavior annoys the hell out of me.  Why send your child to save 8 seats?  Why do some feel they have the right to take their time and have someone save their seat for them?  I would have sat down just like those couples did.  No different than saving lounge chairs on the Lido deck.

Agreed.  During the sail off party everyone was trying to get a spot by the railing. (my first cruise) Some young 20's something girl was trying to push two loungers as close to the railing as possible to save room for her and her friend!  So rude.  If you want a spot be there. And you are trying to save loungers???  I told her everyone wants a spot and you are trying to save loungers? My husband was embarrassed.

I roll all of my T-shirts when packing. Believe it or not, rolling them takes up less space than folding. I actually took the time to test it. I needed to know...FOR SCIENCE! I'll even roll jean shorts and khaki shorts, but those are a little harder to do. Other things, like button up/collared shirts, jeans & khaki pants, can be difficult to roll, so I'll usually just fold those. I'm very careful when rolling my T-shirts, making sure to smooth out any wrinkles as I roll them. It's a bit tedious, but in doing this, I've been able to leave the shirts rolled up for an entire week and not have any wrinkles when they're unrolled.

I did this on our first cruise last December.  Like you said it took a while, but little to no wrinkles.  I was able to pack more in a smaller suitcase.  LOVE this tip (not hack). 😉
