  1. I was in haven on escape last October. We purchase vibe and it was one of our favorite parts of the week. The haven bar is not near the sundeck, and the bartenders weren’t friendly. In vibe, it was relaxing, friendly, AMAZING drinks. In haven if you order anything other than basics they look at you funny and say they can’t. We had a few kids in haven pool area but not many. I say go for it. What’s another $200.

  2. OMG. Being upset you spent $8k on a honeymoon where you planned to spend a decent amount of your time in the spa only to find out you're unable to because it's closed, only after calling yourself and then not feeling really satisfied with the customer service experience literally has nothing to do with not being grateful about the fact you have potable water. Please direct me to where he said he's ungrateful for four walls and being alive because your "can you just be grateful..." **** is rich. No where did he say he's ungrateful for any of that.

You can simultaneously be devastated for the people affected by hurricanes while donating money to the Red Cross and also upset you spent $8k on something that isn't going to turn out as expected. Your honeymoon no less.

I'm incredibly grateful for my life and what I have but, shocker, I'm annoyed that I have a Haven Spa room and have yet to be contacted by NCL. It's not one way or the other.

    Well said.

  3. Mainly because “this instance” then becomes the example for everyone else that has an issue - and in this case, a lot of people have the same issue. To the right person, a honeymoon is just as important as “I have a hangnail.” To others, letting a honeymoon couple switch, but not letting them switch would be segregation! Prejudice! Unfair!

    And they’re right.

A honeymoon is a special occasion, but so are anniversaries, first cruises, “we finally saved enough to get a spa suite” and any number of other reasons. Picking one and not all of them puts you in a bad position.

I think it’s very unfortunate, and if I were in customer service, I would just reschedule them (assuming I could), but it’s a slippery slope, especially when it is something that many people on the same cruise will be unhappy about.

You also have to remember that just as people come here to complain, others come here to crow that “They moved us.” So, being nice to one couple on the sly is very dangerous because it doesn’t stay secret.

But not really...this is a known scheduled down time for the thermal spa-a main draw of the ship. What if your primary entertainment was going to be the pool and they were closing the only pool for the week? My opinion has nothing to do with this being a honeymoon. I'd say the same thing if this was your 15th cruise this year just because. It's rude on NCLs part to not even attempt to rectify it.

  4. What are they supposed to do? What is the concierge going to do? It's a disappointing first world problem. I once was able to snag a large cabana on GSC for $200 (soon after they were built). By the time we sailed, they were going for twice that. I was really looking forward to our day in paradise, and was disappointed that we had to skip GSC, knowing I'd never be able to get a large cabana for $200 again. I got my refund.

And honestly...any concern with a cruise is a "first world problem". Which underwear I out on every morning is a first world problem, but I don't purposely wear uncomfortable ones. I bet he worked hard for the money he is spending on the cruise and if he's disappointed with the product, that's fair.

Letting them switch weeks would be a good start. I understand they are past final payment but if they already booked that part, the line should be flexible to accommodate the guest. In reality, they are still getting paid $8000+ and he's even willing to pay to upgrade. I honestly don't see the issue with doing something for the guest in this instance.

  6. Right??? You are a rich person, and you are in a situation where someone will bring you any food you desire, from Eggs Benedict to a rare steak to sushi to a big fresh salad. And you decide that you want $2 worth of colored, congealed corn syrup delivered to you around the clock? I just don't get it.

  7. I had a friend stay at el convento and loved it! We didn't stay there pre cruise bc there was a 2 night min. We stayed at Casablanca. It was less than $100/night, gorgeous, in a good location, and staff was friendly and very helpful! It's a small boutique hotel so not all the amenities of a big hotel and the room was small but I would absolutely stay there again.

  8. Yes. Mine consistently doesn't respond to my emails, or in the rare case he doesn't only addressed 1 piece of it. We called to upgrade and just asked for someone different. He called before we could even hang up the phone. So not helpful and I educated him ALOT on room, sizes, layouts, etc.

  9. How far in advance of your cruise should you expect an email offering you the opportunity to bid?

I apologize for the asking if this already has been asked. There are 45 pages of conversations so I thought I would just ask again.

    Cheers,

    Tony

  10. That has to be so frustrating. In the scheme of things, it's created a headache for you and they won't waive a $300pp difference. I think that's crazy. Sorry for these other people jumping on you. I found the letter not personal, and $50 on board credit a bit insulting since they just cancelled your entire cruise and it will probably cost you more than $300 to change flights. Overall, it seems you lose and NCL didn't care a bit. Il

  11. Was in aft balcony on the Jewel. I could offer a minimum of $500.00 pp for upgrade to a Penthouse suite aft. I called NCL to see if the minimum bids ever get lowered. They asked me to hold as they checked and come back to tell me they were upgrading me for free. Now that's customer service!

WOW! What did you say to get them to do that??

  12. I do have a question about paying if you when I bid. I would like to surprise my wife if we do get upgraded. NCL has our AMX on file for the current cabin. Can I switch the added payment to another CC if we get an upgrade? I have another card I could put it on so she wouldn't see it

You have to put in card info when you make the offer so you could use any card you want!
