  1. What is served in Cafe Crema? Is that a place I should spend very little time or fly through fast?

Are they showing anything on the big screen that I saw pictured under the glass dome?

Do they play movies on television? We like to relax in our cabin and on our balcony. I might try the pool on this cruise. I had more questions but they have left my mind at the moment.😏

And even if you can only get one under the bed, they will take the other one away for you and return it in time to pack up for your departure.

    Not a problem!

Thank you for that information. I am sure I will need to do that.

Yes...whilw we were having lunch on embarkation there was an alarm called for man overboard.   This was in addition to the medical emergencies

We will be sailing on the Rivera one month from tomorrow. We live in the next town north of you. I have been reading many different posts trying to get an idea of the workings of Oceania. We have sailed several lines (mass market) and one luxury line for years. I like to pretend I know what I am doing when I get on a ship. :classic_love: I might have a few more questions for you.

We live in NJ just outside the city. Both my husband and I were born and worked in the city. We know another person who lives in PA outside the city who will be sailing too. Maybe we can meet during the cruise. My email address is classy stuff at hot mail dot com. If you join the words and use @ and . in the proper place you should be able to figure it out.

  5. Thank you both. We are early diners. We have a friend wanting to dine along with us. I just have to choose which day for the restaurants. I have about two weeks to go before choosing. We have stages we go through that being close to cruising, really close and we on our way to the ship.

    You both have been helpful.

    Yes...luckily...came up again last night

all reservations completed...and very happy with booking times.

    thank you

I see you are not too far away from us, we are in Burlington County. We are taking our first O cruise. I will be able to make our dining reservations soon. What is the earliest time that one can make dinner reservations? Is it easy to book the times you want?

    Thanks

  7. Carol, we are on the same cruise and we are thinking about staying in SFO for a few days as we have friends there. We love the Bay area.

Looking forward to meeting you both. We have figured out SF and most of our plans there. Now working on our LA plans before we take the train back home.

  8. We are booked on the Anthem for Thanksgiving 2015. Our gratuities were not included in the base price of the cruise. When we gave our deposit the TA calculated the gratuity cost and then added it onto the cost of the cruise so it became a part of our final total (all due at the time of final payment.)

When we first booked the Quantum in May of 13 there were no tips included on our reservation. Once DD came into play our gratuities were added to our reservation and will have to be paid by the final payment date.

  9. We have (non-suite) guests dining with us, and their reservations show Coastal Kitchen. I'm pretty sure the wife just added some more recently.

Well I had no luck getting booked for myself and friends in the Coastal Kitchen way back in May, if I wanted something around 8:30 then they would try. They claimed they called me for early booking not. Booked JrSpa on opening day.

I am I seeing six drawers for storage and one closet? Looks like the standard's have two closets.

    I just found this thread.

  10. Biscayne Blvd is a wide, major street with wide pavements and has traffic lights. We stayed at ICH and walked down regular streets to get to the Filling Station. We did have to cross a highway but there were lights that stopped the traffic. We were disappointed because it was a Sunday and the Filling Station was closed. So we went around the corner and had a great meal at the Brazilian Restaurant.

  11. Benji---Hi, I noticed you were sailing on the Paradise this month and needed a place to store your luggage before your late flight home. I do as well. We are sailing 6/24. Would you mind posting here and let me know how that worked for you?? YEARS ago I was able to check my luggage early at the airport before my flight but now I understand you cannot. I'm getting alot of mixed answers from different sources saying yes you can store it at the pier or no you can't. Just need to know so we can make decisions for our sailing.

    TIA!

    Karen

We were able to store our luggage on Jan.27th 2013 at the Destination location. They will store luggage until three. It is right across from the Aquarium. If you call the number at the link provided in the prior post they can answer your questions.

  12. I've been doing a little more research on the cherry and found it is also a natural form of melatonin. I'm wondering if it will make one sleepy after taking it? Or if the does to combat the swelling is not enough to put you to sleep. I guess we'll find out.

Coming in on the end of this discussion. It does not make you drowsy, it just makes you sleep better.

The swelling ankles caught my attention so now I will read on and might start taking the cheery cherry juice.

  13. Medjet is a critical part of your insurance, but it does not actually replace any part of your travel insurance. Let me explain....

Medjet will fly you from anywhere in the world to the location of your choice, should you need medical evacuation or continued treatment.....but the will not pay for your evacuation to the point of medical treatment (they say this more eloquently in their fine print). For folks who are cruising, that does NOT include transfers from the ship to a hospital or doctor ashore. That part is up to you and/or your travel insurance. Once you have been treated and are medically stable, they will then arrange transportation to wherever you want...eg back to the US.

Why is this important? Let's say you have a stroke while abroad. Your travel insurance will cover the cost of getting you from the ship to a hospital...and they will pay for your care in that hospital. But what they won't pay is your travel back to the US, UK or wherever you live....and that's where medjet comes in.

We carry medjet thru aarp (no they are not affiliated, they just offer a discount if you purchase thru AARP). We also have Medicare J (no longer offered) which covers up to $50K of foreign medical costs (normal medicare A/B does not cover this nor do most medigap policies). We carry travel insurance as well to cover that first flight from ship to hospital (can cost $25K or more), lost baggage, trip delay (yes we were on the century when it had it's mechanical breakdown and the trip delay insurance helped defray some of our costs).

If you don't want to be stranded in some foreign hospital, you should strongly consider medjet or equivalent.

Thank you for your clear explanation. This is good information to have and then act on it.

  14. I am glad this thread was brought back to life. I too am African American. I usually do not get into the water so I do not have too many problems with my hair. I wear my hair cut very short after years of dealing with the same problems mentioned. I would agree that Carol's Daughter products are great. My DD uses those products with the gds.

This thread will be very helpful to new AA cruisers and new CC posters.

Faith, can you give me the locaton of John's Limos mentioned in your blog?

  15. Dawn............I'm a brave, brave person because I'm cruising with Suzanne - we join her on Thursday!!! I never took anything for seasickness and never had a problem but I'm debating whether I should take Bonine or not!!! Suzanne said I should, but I told her she needs to behave this cruise and keep the sea calm!!!! Not sure what to do........I don't like taking anything!!! LOL

Well I guess she was having a little fun with people last night with all that wind, but she is used to that.

I always carry ginger tablets. When we had that big I took ginger and it worked great. Usually I am good with nothing. Once on a cruise to HI a lady told me she neede something to ease her stomach and I tiold her to try some ginger. I thn forgot all about it. She later came back to thank me.

  16. Last fall while on our cruise we had luggage damage to start. But On the 4th day of the cruise while we were in St. Martin's I fell off the segway( the human transporter). I hit the ground head first and got a gigantic bump on my forehad. We ferried back to the ship and saw the dr. He said take tylenol and keep ice on my head. So our lovely room attendant Tess kept a constant supply of ice for me. I rested in bed for the rest of the day. The next day I was bound and determined to see San Juan and we did.

I was walking around the ship with purple circles under my eyes much like a racoon. We still had a great time on that cruise. We were back on a ship in Feb, but no more daring excursions for me. I still have a tiny lump to remind me no no.
