  1. Also on board. I didn't see a whole lot of dis-repair. There was some rust up on the sports deck on the outside portion but pretty much where ANY ship is going to have rust due location and exposure. No problems with carpets. Mini golf did have some issues but not with greens (kids stuffing pipes full of balls and such). Over all very lovely. Crew was very attentive and fun. There were a LOT of rude people. More so than I'm used to.

  2. Best seems to be $50 onboard credit, Early Saver, and if you can get the small window with I think we did $50 dollar deposit. However, that has led us to know having almost 200 in credit for our actual cruise as the price for our interior dropped significantly and they have offered us upgrades more than once now for the cruise.

  3. "Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse Brewhouse is one of a handful of "new to the line" features debuting on Carnival Horizon -- including its recently announced Teppanyaki restaurant. The ship also will boast Carnival staples such as Guy's Burger Joint, the BlueIguana Cantina and Tequila Bar, as well as the RedFrog Pub & Brewery, SkyRide and IMAX movie theater unveiled on Carnival Vista."

But the article then says that it will have a RedFrog Pub and Brewery? Is that a typo? Did they mean the Rum bar thats not listed?

  4. My main "hack" i mixing the Lemonade and Tea to make an Arnold Palmer.

We normally carry sweetener drops. Its like your drops to flavor water but its just sweetener in like a liquid/light syrup. It mixes well. But hardly ever have to use it with the Arnold Palmer.

Also, I guess its a hack. We'll load up on cookies, cheese, snacky stuff via zip lock or tupperware items and keep them for snacks while w're in one of the bars at night or playing games in the library.

  5. (OP here) Thanks...we wouldn't put the kids together...wife would take one and I'd take the other. We're most likely going to pay $200 and get the Balcony + interior. We may only use the interior for sleeping & extra showers, but it's worth $200 to not have the sofa bed out all the time so the room feels less cramped...cheaper than any other upgrade for a room type:)

Quick question...if we do get two rooms, does that mean my wife can get the Cheers package and I don't have to? That would be savings in and of itself since she drinks more than I do.

I believe so. Just make sure you book the names that way so it only shows one adult per room. And before it begins, yes this is a work around to the system in a way but is to the letter of the rules as there is only one adult in the cabin getting Cheers.

  6.

Well you are making it hard for me to disagree with you :) All I got is I doubt that your 40 yr old wife wants to do crafts with children. She may enjoy arts and craft...I've been know to scrapbook, but it is really hard to fully enjoy creativity with kids trying to use the paper, tools, etc. If you do arts and crafts with children in my experience you have to go with doing it for their enjoyment not yours. So I'm betting she won't want to go to Circle C to craft with the kiddos.

I should say that she'd want to do the arts and crafts that they are doing. But you'd be shocked. On our last cruise, she looked more than once at the Circle C activities and complained that she didn't get to make things. When we go on vacation, we like to be kids since the kids are old enough to be adults now. At least by the 18+ standard.

I'll say it again louder for those in the back :p

I think it is pretty easy to see say 16 and 18 would enjoy similar entertainment. Probably not that way with say a 16 yr old and 6 yr old.

And even more odd for a 40 year old wanting to partake in elementary age children entertainment.

See, I agree with you for the most part but this is the two way street thing with this. My DW is nearly 40. In fact, our next cruise is for her 8th annual 32nd birthday as she calls it. But she constantly wants to do that stuff because she loves arts and crafts. There's a whole market for those with those art and wine things.

The real issue is entitlement. Yes, those of us that go, is it a big deal that the 17 year old is there are infringing on rules and feel like we should be entitled to do so because we paid for out cruise. But those that want the rules strictly enforced are acting just as entitled. People get turned away so you shouldn't let your underage child in and I could be one of them. But it may just be full of adults. All apples are fruit but not all fruits are apples.

It honestly is rules in place to protect Carnival nothing else. Its so some parent doesn't sue when they're underage kid is hit on or anything further if they are in the Serenity area. Or if the parent sues or says something because they're underage child was at the comedy show. Its honestly because of how litigious our society has become. The same with the age limits placed for the kids activities.

It would be better if we could all get along or at least agree to disagree with out attacking others.

    :D

  8. I've never looked at 18+ as a rule for the comedians but like a rating system like at the movies. Those are not rules. Its a rating. Yes, some people perceive it as a rule but its not, its a warning that the subject matter may not be appropriate for someone under the age listed.

The dance clubs and Serenity are different. They do have ages in place to get in. And there's various reasons for that. That being said. Without carding, it can be hard to read at that older age limit. If someone whose 17 or 18 comes in there. Isn't loud. isn't causing a problem. While "breaking" the rules, 10 to 1 no one would know except the people their traveling with. So there's really no harm done. Yes, I know there's limited seating. There is everywhere. I've not actually had the opportunity to sit around the Serenity area or for that matter even the pool other than port days. The ships are crowded. Everyone is on vacation. Everyone wants to sit and relax. What I've usually come across is busy pools with families with children and young teens taking up most of the pools and chairs and enjoying themselves within a certain limited noise level. And Serenity has been full of middle aged or older people very inebriated and being anything but serene. I wouldn't want to bring someone under age there to begin with in MY experience.

  9. A hidden gem of quiet the last time I was on board was the Alfred Bar. Very rarely was anything organized going on in there and most people don't seem to realize its there because of its odd location.During the day. I don't recall ever being in there at night. Its has some beautiful architecture to it though the ceiling is a bit low. Between two elevator banks. Its a great place to go with your food from the Buffet is the seating is too crowded for you at lunch time as well.

  10. There's also potential comfort to the cruisers/passengers.

We were going "full" according to what we were told to make up time from bad weather. Seas were still kind of rough. Sitting in MDR for dinner at rear of the Conquest. Vibration from engines and seas was so bad that multiple passengers including my DW left and fought over bathrooms to throw up in due to motion sickness. My DW never gets sea sick and has been on boats all her life. But that extra vibration made it unbearable and even I was queasy.

I'd rather miss an excursion and two hours in a port than deal with multiple complaints due to the level of comfort that had been brought down due to going faster than scheduled.
