  1. Just off the Valor last Thursday! It was our first cruise and we all loved it! We did Cozumel and Progreso. If you plan to do any shopping, I feel like better deals were to be had in Progreso! Wish I had known that before. Spent a lot in Cozumel only to find things half price before bargaining in Progreso.

The staff were amazing! Our dining staff became like family and we were sad to leave them! Everybody knew us by name. We went to one show which was a rock and roll show and it was really good. Wish we had gone to more, but we kept so busy. The food was hit or miss but that's just personal preference. The dining room kept things moving, didn't take hours like some people report.

We had an interior room and it was adequate and clean. We loved the bed. It was super comfy. The room had a small cooler/fridge. Kept things sort of cold but not ice cold. Ice readily provided by room steward. We brought a small fan to keep air moving and their is a temp control dial on the wall.

Everybody was soooo nice on this ship! The staff were constantly cleaning everything. They never stopped moving!

My favorites were the Chocolate Buffet, the Warm Chocolate Melting Cake, Deck 3 outside the lobby, and Fun Ship Drinks!

  2. Hello wise cruisers!

Our group is having a panic moment because someone casually mentioned to us that you can't cruise if you have a misdemeanor. We have a group of seven and three of the people have misdemeanors. Two DUI's one over ten and the other over twenty years ago, and one fifth degree theft (bad check) about 18 years ago. Traveling to Mexico, do we need to cancel our trip???

    Panicking!

  3. All of them! We've been to all of them multiple times (my husband and I, but not the rest of the family).

Grand Cayman: We booked Stingraysailing dot com and they were awesome to us. Rough water, so we missed the snorkeling and could not sail, so we took a motorboat and still made it to the rays. Then we went to Paradise Grill for a little snorkeling, Turtle burgers & soup and some cocktails. The only bad thing of the day was the Looooong tender lines. Last tender was supposed to leave the dock at 2:00 pm. We sat at the port from 1:30 pm and got on one of the last tenders at 3:15 pm. LONG wait!!

Roatan: We took a private tour with Rony's tours. We had Carla as a guide, and Arnold as a driver. We had a fantastic tour on a hot day! The kids Zip-lined and snorkeled right at the beach.

Belize: Cavetubing for the family was OK. Not fantastic, but they had fun. We just walked around town. It was really, really hot and humid, so we didn't do much.

Cozumel: Money Bar for lunch and snorkeling. We had a blast here. The kids had one of their favorite days here. The water was amazing and we had some great food!!

Ohhhhh I would love to hear more about the Money Bar. What did the kids do/like?

  4. According to carnivalshipstats.com last years Splendor cruise on that date had 2132 adults and 847 children. I would expect similar this year

Can you verify that web address. We are cruising on January 27th on the Valor and are bringing our kids and am hoping they make a friend or two :)

  5. I was reading some of the other posts about using your Verizon rewards points to purchase Carnival gift cards. We booked through a PVP and have only paid our down payments and are cruising in January. I have 386,000 points! Our balance is somewhere around $1500 due on the cruise. Can I still buy these and apply them to my cruise balance? Can I use more than one (3 $500 gift cards)?:confused::confused:

  6. I've never saw a point in a travel agent past the 1990s. Some people on here swear by them but I have never found one that can do anything exciting. Maybe $50 OBC or something like that but I'd rather them keep the $50 and I do things myself. If you use a TA then they own your booking and you have to go through them for everything. Carnival can't talk to you. If you book directly you will get a PVP that can can help you out tremendously. You don't need nobody to "do something on your behalf" if you know how to email or use a phone. You can contact your PVP with any needs you have and they can help.

I feel so dumb, but what is a PVP?
