  1. Hi

On the off chance anyone is reading this on an RC cruise right now, can you give me specific examples of how much some "essentials" are in the on-board store, like shampoo, toothpaste, Advil etc.

I know they are going to be obviously higher than on land but just wanted an example of by how much.

    Thanks

  2. Hi

This might sound like an odd question but has anyone ever had to buy "essentials" (shampoo, toothpaste, Aspirin) on board only to find they have had a crazy mark-up?

I'm not going to name the line but I had that experience recently and just wondered if it was widespread. I thought they might have misprinted the price label but they hadn't.

I totally appreciate there is going to be some mark up on a cruise ship, of course, but this was nuts.

    Thanks

  3. Hi

Just so I can work out how much I'd have to drink to make a drinks package worthwhile, (I'm not a big drinker) can someone tell me the price for a Coke, a glass or red wine and a beer on any Celebrity ship in the Caribbean. (And I know there are different prices for different types of wine and beer of course, so just what the lowest prices would be for a small glass of wine/bottle of beer.)

I can find drinks package prices on their website but I can't find this information.

    Thanks

  4. Hi

We are doing the above cruise soon...once on board the ship, do we need any local currency; specifically I mean for when we are on shore in the various ports of call, or will local bars/restaurants/stores take either US dollars or credit cards.

Just that we are coming straight from England and not sure where to get Panamanian Balboas or Costa Rican Colons, and more to the point if we actually need them.

I appreciate though in many countries some people think it's a bit "high handed" if you just use dollars, although I guess money is money wherever you are.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  5. Can someone tell me some drinks prices on board Windstar - for a beer, cocktail and "average" glass of wine.

We're trying to figure out if it's worth taking the drinks package on board ($32pp per day for wine; $54 for wines and cocktails as well).

I think per person, we'd probably have a cocktail, a beer and two glasses of wine each per day on average and wonder what that lot would cost, and if buying those drinks individually would work out cheaper than a package.

Thanks in advance for your answers and merry Christmas.

  6. Hi

We are booked on a Windstar cruise that arrives into Puerto Caldera in January, and need to get to a hotel about two hours further north, near(ish) Liberia airport.

    But we are struggling!

There seems to be no car rental place at Puerto Caldera, and I believe the rental depot that was at a hotel nearby has closed down.

Someone suggested Vamos Car Rental in San Jose that would bring a car out but they have said they only do a 7-day minimum rental in January.

    Help!

Does anyone know of a car rental place that will deliver to Puerto Caldera, only has a 2 or 3 day minimum in January and will do a one-way drop off (for a fee of course) at Liberia airport?

Does Windstar offer transfers to Liberia? (I know they do to San Jose, but that doesn't really help us).

Or does anyone know of a reliable driver or car service in Costa Rica that would take us north from Puerto Caldera?

    Many thanks for your help

  7. Hi

Does anyone know if there is a car rental depot at Puerto Caldera? (Or if there is one close by that we can reach by taxi?)

We need to drive up to El Mangroove hotel afterwards, and eventually do a one-way drop off at Liberia airport.

So we can investigate options can anyone also recommend a local car and driver company that do the one way Puerto Caldera-El Mangroove drive for us, and how we contact them.

    Thanks

  8. Hi

Can someone who has done this sailing please tell me the best way to get from Panama City to Colon, and at the other end from Puerto Caldera to San Jose airport.

(Including how long it takes, and cost).

Is this something I can organise via Windstar or do I have to do it independently?

On the way back, I see it says the ship gets in at 6am...would I be safe catching a flight from San Jose at approx 11.30am, or the next one after that which is approx 1.30pm?

We would have one night on arrival in Panama City - any recommendation of a hotel to stay at? We'd only arrive in to the airport about 10pm so would it make sense just to stay right there and go on from there in the morning? I don't think we'll have any time to actually see the city itself?

Many thanks in advance for your help
