  1. I follow Murphy's Law, that if anything can go wrong it will go wrong eventually. Being a Weather and Oceanographic forecaster I know that Weather can change fast, planes can breakdown, or not show up at all. Have been delayed twice by Planes that couldn't start their engines because of a computer problem that delayed my flight from 3 hours in Honolulu and 13 hours in Spokane. Wish you Good Luck!

  2. Possibly, but I think it would have to be a hammock with its own stand - I have not noticed any fittings on HAL Vista ship balconies strong enough to support a loaded hammock. Perhaps if you arranged with whoever had the balcony above yours you might be able to run a rope around his railing - but ship's personnel might notice and object.

    Thanks..

  3. When were you planning on using the hammock? No way you would be allowed to string up a hammock while the ship is at sea--it would be confiscated by security. And both ship's security and the local authorities might take exception while the ship is in port. Plus if any of your neighbors complained you would certainly be ordered to take it down; their concerns about both noise and safety are legitimate.

(And I am curious about one thing: your posting history, while brief, includes discussion oft the jogging track on the ship and your wearing a wet suit on beach excursions. Yet you are in a handicapped cabin???)

MY WIFE NEEDS A SPECIAL NEEDS CABIN.....think before you post please sir.

Did a search on Google images and it is possible on some Lines, not sure if HAL would approve though.

  5. I see availability with DHCR for your date ... try using "Cruise Passengers - Lahaina" as your pick up/drop off location.

The rental agencies in W. Maui are about 5 miles north of Lahaina (per Bruce's description) - they are off-site for West Maui Airport (code JHM if you want to try booking through another site.)

On DHCR's website, they provide info on shuttles - click on "Maui, Lahaina Harbor" in this link, and you'll see that Enterprise and Dollar provide shuttles (including instructions for shuttle contact) - and Budget and Avis do not (therefore requiring a taxi each way. ) http://discounthawaiicarrental.com/cruiseshipreservation.shtml

Have there been any changes to the above information on Lahaina rental car availabiity? I read one post that mentioned that Shuttles from a couple of rental companies to the Lahaina Tender dock...?

  6. I don't mind lanyards, but since I carry my phone and my hand sanitizer as well as my key card and now a player's card, I use one of these neat things. It allows me to just flip the little bag over and play games or read on my phone if I want to. For on shore time, I throw it into a cinch sack that I loop over my rollator.

Surfed their and computer said File not found. Could you please try again?

  7. Since I will be swimming at beaches near the ship and wearing a thin sun-shield wet suit all day, even at an outdoor Hotel bar I need to wear a waterproof lanyard with cruise ID, CC, small waterproof camera and cash. Is the HAL ID waterproof plastic?

Is there a waterproof lanyard that will carry all the aforementioned items?

My wet suit doesn't have pockets.

  8. The deck above the mid-ship Lido pool has a jogging track. Not quite sure how to answer your question if it is "dedicated" but that's where joggers are supposed to jog, not on the Lower Promenade deck which is for walkers. The jogging track is a softer material, but it is out in the weather - sun and wet. m--

That's what I was wanting to hear, a cushioned surface. Like to jog in the fresh Ocean Air.

  9. Except Granville Street does not go north beyond Cordova, and even if it did you'd be a block too far east for the terminal. Howe Street is the one that leads to Canada Place.

Google Map here - and given the hassle of getting into and out of Canada Place on a cruise morning, I'd 100% be making two trips with luggage from parking rather than drive around the block!!!

    Thanks MartinCath,

Looks like I will be driving in to Canada Place to drop the luggage off and my other half, then I plan on driving to YVR to park the car, then I have to find a SKYTRAIN ticket machine and the SKYTRAIN headed to Canada Place from YVR...and if I don't get back to Canada Place in time, I will have to fly to Kauai to meet the ship (if they will let me board).

Is the new unofficial cruise parking downstairs or upstairs at Canada Place? and one more question for now...what streets if any are one way on the google map you so kindly attached?

  10. Hope this helps

The besy at Canada Place is park the car and take your bags downstairs to the porters.

If to many bags or people , then drop bags and people with the ports then park the car. To do this you'll have to go around the block to get back to the parking garage.

Thanks for the info. Not quite clear on the second option of having too many bags. Understand that I drop the bags with the Porters...not sure where the Porters are located? Then I have to leave the area where the Porters are and go around the block to get back into the parking garage.

Might help if I knew the names of the Streets to go around the building and come back to the parking garage.

  11. Are there coffee makers in the staterooms? We will be in cabin 5140 on the Westerdam.

If we don't get the Soft drink or any drink package is it possible to get one Diet Coke or Pepsi?

    Are shower mats available?

    Are the MDR meals included?

We will be driving to the Port of Vancouver BC. I assume that we drive up the ramp and unload our bags near the ship then Park the Car in the same building at Canada Place?

Is there a annual fee for the HAL CC?

    Thx......Lite Seas

  12. Currently on the Westerdam for a 12 night, Civitavecchia to Barcelona. If anyone has any questions, I'll try to answer. I'll attempt to post some pics of the updated public areas as well. I'll review later. Only day two, but in ports the first four days, so may take a little bit to respond.

We will be in Stateroom 5140 and are wondering if it has a coffee maker and if a shower matt is included?

    Thx

Scheduled for the MS Westerdam April 12th to Hawaii and return to Vancouver BC
