  1. Yes, this is my problem. I had in mind to see the trulli houses in Alberobello, but then upon looking at different excursions discovered Matera. It looks like such an interesting and unique village with so much history! Maybe we'll just rent a car in hopes of seeing some trulli houses on the way from Bari to Matera.

  2. Thanks for the in depth review! : ) We're an American family cruising with Costa for the first time next week. I know your kids didn't participate in the kids club, but do you happen to know if they have hours during the day so my husband and I can do an excursion alone? We have a 4, 7 and 11 year old and were really hoping to not have to haul the 4 year and 7 year old through all the streets and towns we want to see.

  3. How is supervision for the kid's club on Costa cruises? What kind of activities do the kids do? I have a very hyper 4 year old and am debating leaving him with the kids club for my sanity during our excursions off the boat.

  4. First off, welcome to CC.

Five in a cabin - ouch.

It will depend on some factors:

How big are the kids? The actual layout of the cabin?

I can't remember ever seeing bunk beds in a balcony cabin, you have restrictions because of the room wide windows, the side wall where the balcony door opens.

If there are no bunk beds, then would that be the couch folds out to a double bed and you get a foldup bed for the fifth person.

I personally would have gone for two inside connecting cabins.

Whatever you get, have a great cruise.

Ours doesn't have bunk beds, so the couch folding out and a fold up is what we will be dealing with. Hopefully, the couch is comfy! ; )

and I do have our cabin number so I'll have to check out the forums and look for info.

  5. In your opinion what would be the better bet during a 6 hour stay in Bari:

    Alberobello and Polignano Beaches

The Sassi di Matera and Polignano Beaches

Am I stretching it trying to do 2 things?

Are there Trulli huts located close to The Sassi di Matera or Polignano Beaches instead of taking the drive out to Alberobello? I've read that they are located in other places besides Alberobello. Does anyone know where these other places may be?

  6. We wound up using the public bus system which is super cheap.

I think it was 5 euros for an all day pass. Took Bus No. 15 from Port to the Old Town. Walked to San Rocco Square. Took Bus No. 2A from San Rocco Square to Kanoni and saw Mouse Island. Then took the same bus back to the Old Fortress, and explored the Old Town at our leisure. Easy and super cheap.

How long were you at the port in Corfu? I think we'll go this route, but want to make sure we have enough time. We're only in port for 5 hours.

  7. Taking our first cruise with Costa Deliziosa next week. I'm a bit nervous as our travel agent placed our family of 5 into a regular balcony cabin. I was hoping for a family cabin, but she insisted this would work. Looking at picture is making me think it's going to be a very tight squeeze. Has anyone fit 5 people into a regular balcony cabin? I know the couch folds out..does anyone have pictures of the couch folded out into a bed?

    Thanks!! : )
