  1. I hope to make this again perfectly clear " No One Asked...There Was No Need To Tell Anyone". Nothing happened...no one cared..the ship (Harmony) left on time...no delays !!

My credit card was refunded for the port fees and taxes for my 3 no shows approx one week after returning.

Ok thanks you have made yourself perfectly clear thank you 😊

  2. You are "imagining" incorrectly...the ship isn't going to be held usually....the only time I have been onboard and there was a brief departure delay was due to the ship contracted shuttle transfer bus from the airport with 30 people on it due to a late arriving flight...and that amounted to only a few minutes.

Being "polite" has nothing to do with this circumstance at all.

Quick question Ashland did you tell them at check in about the no shows or did you say nothing or did you board and tell guests service later on

  3. As above....just tell them at check-in. No big deal. The port fees and taxes will be refunded to the card used for the payment.

Thanks I've just heard of horror stories of people being charged single supplement when telling them there was a no show at check in

  4. Dad got sick right before our cruise (mom stayed with him to card for him) so I ended up a solo. only problem was I was on their SS account so I had to put cash on the card at Guest Services.

Another problem was letting cabin steward know that they didn't have to do so much work. MDR staff were also looking for more people.

Did you let them know at check in or after you boarded I just don't know whether to say nothing or tell them at check in

  5. OP has not posted anything since Feb 2016. Guessing he is not active here?

Sorry very new to this sailing with royal soon and my roommmste will be a no show just wondering how it will pan out reading most of the posts on here it should be fine although have heard of the odd person saying they where charged single supplement when they told the other person was a no show which worries me

  6. Purchasing insurance and then filing a claim is not getting around the single supplement.

In my case' date=' Celebrity was paid in full for two people on the reservation. One person was unable to cruise snd canceled with Celebrity prior to the cruise. There was no refund from Celebrit. The two fares were paid to Celebrity just as if a single supplement was paid.

The insurance company is the entity that reimbursed the person who was unable to cruise. A claim had to be filed with the insurance company, and proof of the cancellation provided. That proof of cancellation had to list the amount that was not refunded as that was the amount the insurance company paid on the claim.

Perhaps you can explain why you see this as an avoidance of payment?[/quote']

Sorry I thought someone had been an no show but makes sense now

  7. We are booked on the Breeze in June and my husband might not be able to go due to work.

I called my pvp who said to let him be a 'no show' instead of canceling. He said we would be refunded our port fees/taxes and prepaid gratuities.

(We did not purchase insurance, but my husband is the 3rd person booked in a balcony, so his rate of $179, is all we would lose.)

Pvp said he was worried that they would reconfigure the rate for the two other guests in the cabin and we would owe more or move us to a cabin that sleeps 2. We have other family in the cabin next door and we can open our balcony partitions, so we don't want to move.

So how does that work? When we check in, do I tell them he's not coming? What about our steakhouse reservations that are under his name?

We are still hoping for the best right now, but I want to be prepared in case he can't go.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Did you manage to board ok after telling them at check in going on a cruise soon and will be in a similar situation

  8. I saw in another thread you've been posting about this for four days and have been told a handful of times that you will not be denied boarding for not boarding with everyone in your cabin. It seems like you don't believe us since you keep asking over and over, so why don't you call Royal and ask? Would you believe them?

Not a question of not believing anyone I'm very new to cruise critic so apologies for asking the same questions I read various different answers on other pages which I haven't posted - apologies I mean no offfence or harm.

  9. My husband realized 2 nights before we sailed that he would not be sailing with me. We sailed last November. When I checked in the day of sailing, I told RCL that he would not be sailing with me. They took his name off the manifest before the ship left the dock. We were credited back for the port taxes in a refund on our credit card. When I returned home, my husband filed a claim for the 75% refund towards another cruise and when the credit came through, we booked another cruise. We never had any intentions of him not sailing until something came up. It would have really been bad if I had had to pay the 100% price for the room without him going with me. We have cruised over 10 years and this is the first time we have filed on our insurance. Hope we don't have to do it again.

    Barbara

I've paid the fare for both of us so it's technically my money anyway I'm just worried I'm gong to be denied boarding or the will try and slap a single supplement fare on to me.

  10. I had this happen to me on Royal Caribbean, which should work the same way. My husband and I had booked a cruise and 24 hours before the cruise, he was not able to go. (not medical reasons) We purchased our cruise insurance thru RCL. When I checked in at the pier, I told them my husband would not be traveling with me. They credited the excursion charges, port taxes and tips back to our credit card. When I returned from the cruise, my husband filed thru the insurance for the "cancel for any reason" and was able to get 75% of the cruise cost toward a future cruise. You do not get any money back. And I did not have to pay the single rate.

Did you husband no show on a cruise thesis year - I am going to have a no show and wondered is it best to say nothing or tell them when I check in that the other person can't make it I am sailing with royal Carribean

  11. You can board without your roommate. No question. I don't always travel with mine. She flies in from another city. So nonissue there

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I suppose I just have visions of them denying me boarding as I have never been in this situation before that's all

  12. Again...No one is going to care when/after you board...and their certainly not going to ask you for more $$'s because you have a no show. ;)

When did you tell them that the no shows weren't coming did you tell them when you checked in or after you had boarded I have the same scenario and am worried they may not let be board if the other person isn't with me

  13. Isn't that what she was saying? That there were no issues?

If you've seen this on Royal...change the payment for onboard charges. If you accept the onboard payneny responsibility it puts people onto the same checkin. So if I say I'm responsible for DH then we are in the same setsail pass. If I don't then we aren't.

So if I check everyone in separately and my name is the only one on my sea pass I should be able to board and not worry about the no snow

  14. Correct, there are no extra supplements and it's perfectly OK to board with no shows.

Ok perfect thank you as I board in 8 weeks and the person I am going with is messing me about the holiday is paid for as it was a gift but I have a feeling they are going to back out but I would still like to go if possible as friends of mine are on that cruise
