  1. Has anyone done this excursion and, if so, can you tell me which cenotes and zip line it visits? Also, are they on the mainland or the island?

Our family has been to Cozumel, Cancun, and Quintana Roo a few times before and we have toured a few cenotes. Before dropping almost $800 on this excursion, we'd like to make sure that we won't be visiting places we've already been to, but the description on the RCCL website is extremely vague. It basically says "snorkel four beautiful cenotes" and "soar through the Mayan jungle on an exciting seven-zip line course" but nothing about where or which ones.

In lieu of calling Royal and spending half my life on hold, I thought I'd ask here first. Alternately, is there a website someone can point me to that would shed a bit more light on some of the excursions being offered?

  2. Hoping someone can clarify for me because I can't seem to find the answer!

We are sailing on Anthem in April 2019 and one of our stops is CocoKay. All of the information on the Royal site about this port refers to "Perfect Day at CocoKay" but it doesn't look like that will be open until May 2019, a month after our cruise.

I'm just wondering what is on the island currently and what activities will be available to us if all of the new features like the water park, zip line, and the pools and restaurants will still be under construction.

  3. I got it for the signing bonus, but otherwise don't use it and don't book my cruises on it. My Chase card gives me automatic trip protection insurance so I book all of my travel on that card, cruises included. I did not see trip insurance or lost luggage insurance listed in the benefits for the Royal card.

  4. The batts last between 1.5 and 2 hrs. I usually take 2 or 3 with me for a day trip. The aftermarket ones on amazon work fine and you can get a charger with them for the price of a single gopro brand batt. Gopros eat up memory cards, unless you have some way of backing up the cards you will need several. If your shooting at 1080 30 fps you will get about 5 hrs per 32 gig card. Cards are cheap if you watch best buy for sales or they will match Amazon prices. Get 1 card per day if your not taking a laptop. Get your memory cards from best buy thou, there are several fakes on amazon and ebay. I use Sandisk and never had failure with the ones I bought at best buy, but several failures from Amazon. The Acc kits you can get on amazon or ebay are fine for the mounts and stuff. I'd also get a small handle of some sort, a short selfie stick or something.

    Great! Thanks :-)

  5. We are buying a GoPro Hero 5 Black for our upcoming cruise in August.

The camera was my teenage son's idea, and he will be our primary videographer, but we'd like to keep the purchase a surprise from him for now.

Besides the camera, what else will we need? Extra batteries? Will one battery last through a full day's excursion? What about extra SD cards? Can we capture our whole trip on one 32 GB card? How do we get video off of the card? Will we need to bring a laptop? How are those accessory kits from Amazon - are they any good? Clearly, I'm new at all of this :-)

We don't want to do anything too complex with it, just capture our vacation along with some cool underwater and action shots.

Any advice on what else I should purchase would be greatly appreciated!

  6. Have you been able to find any Resort for a Day in St. Thomas? I haven't been able to find any.

Marriott Morning Star used to offer passes but it looks like it's closed through 2018 for hurricane repairs. I guess that's out! We're looking at other stops on our cruise, though, since my husband has a lot of Hilton and Marriott points.

  7. You may not be able to check in to a room in the morning, so you wouldn’t be able to use the room on a cruise schedule.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

That would be ok because we're more interested in just using the resort facilities (pool, beach chairs, sports equipment, etc.) Having access to a room would be a nice plus, but it's not necessary. Cost wise it just seems that we would get more for less by booking a room, even if we didn't use it.

  8. Would love to hear the pros and cons of just booking a room at the resort of our choice versus buying day passes.

We are a family of 4 (two adults, one pre-teen and one teenager) and just want access to some resort facilities while we're in port for the day. I've noticed that a lot of day passes include extras like food and drink, but we don't necessarily need those things.

Some day passes can be 2 to 3 times the price of a hotel room when all is said and done, so it makes much more economic sense for us to just book a room.

Is this practice frowned upon or am I missing something?

  9. We'll be in the Western Caribbean on Allure this August, and I've read in a few threads that the a/c can be pretty cold in the main dining room. I'm just wondering about the other interior areas of the ship. I'm one of those people that's always cold, and I'm most comfortable when the a/c is not on full blast! Obviously I assume it'll be nice and warm in the outdoor areas, and we can control the temp on our cabin, but what about restaurants, shops, casino, hallways, etc.? Will I need to dress in layers or carry a sweater with me everywhere I go?

  10. First time cruiser sailing on Allure in August, and I'm confused about the pricing structure of the specialty restaurants. Some (for example, the Izumi Hibachi Experience) have what appears to be a flat rate (Izumi says "Prices starting from $45 pp) but then certain menu items also have a price next to them as well, while others do not.

For a family of 4 would it be $180 PLUS any "extras" we ordered? I assume drinks are extra as well if we don't have the drink package, but what about sparkling water, soda, coffee, etc.?
