  1. Hi everyone,

I have a question that stems from this thread despite the OP having already sailed. We are sailing on Celebrity in a couple of weeks and arranged a burial at sea service (it's done through the shared Royal Caribbean Emergency Travel Team for Azamara, RCI, and Celebrity.

We purchased a biodegradable urn for the service however in my error, I didn't notice on the service approval letter provided by RCI that we need the urn's biodegradable status to be certified. Has anyone dealt with this and know of what urns would qualify in this case? We are starting to panic a bit with the time frame winding down to find a resolution and it was the entire reason for the cruise in the first place....

We purchased this urn: http://www.perfectmemorials.com/dark-blue-ecourn-biodegradable-cremation-urn-large-p-17256.html and I've checked with the company to see if they offer any certification, they kinda dismissed me as being more or less overly paranoid and assured me that they've had customers do the same in the past without an issue. I mean, the urn certainly SEEMS biodegradable and is flimsy at best with it's paper-like composition from tree bark but I am fearful of risking it...

Thoughts? Tips from anyone who has done this? It is much much appreciated!

  2. Welcome to CC. Your checked luggage and carryon are handled (not somewhat) independently. You are in possession of your carryon and you surrender your checked luggage to the baggage handlers outside the terminal. If we don't have the BP then we put our wine in our carryon. We would never pack wine in our checked luggage. With our luck no matter how we packed the wine it would end up broken. Plus we don't want to waste our time in the naughty room.

Thanks davekathy - been a number of years since my last cruise and will admit I've a pickiness in wine so trying to limit myself to which two to bring is proving challenging!! You raise a good point though, not much use if it breaks in the checked bag....!

  3. 2 bottles in each carry on and 2 in each checked bag.

There is no way that they connect them together.

If they give you any problem tell them that you read it on CC so it is gospel. 🤗

    Drink up 🍹🍸🍷🍺

I'm curious, has anyone tried this strategy? It is certainly reasonable to assume that your carry on and checked luggage are handled (somewhat) independently...
