I think the reason a lot of us get annoyed on here is because of statements like these.

 

A malibu and pineapple is not $13.00, even with service charge.

 

Also, so many people post the menus on here, and everyone can clearly see that they change nightly and are not recycled. Yes, there are always the 4 or so "classics" for the picky people who won't venture away from fried chicken or regular steak, but the majority of the menu changes.

 

The thing is, when people leave negative reviews of anything (not just cruises), their view is so negatively skewed. They don't remember everything exactly, causing them to exaggerate.

 

Clearly, the OP did not have an ideal cruise, and I'm sure is disappointed. It's just frustrating to see posts like this sometimes where other newbies could read it and go in blind with an already (and incorrectly) negative view.

 

That's all. Other than the fact that $8.00 room service is cheaper than most hotels kthxbye.

hate to tell it was exactly 13.50 for a Malibu and pineapple .

from what I have been figuring out by pricing it out it seems by wanting to pick the UDP u get forced into more expensive categories then those service charges or tips added on to that. Plus both in cabin gets charged those additional fees . So I,m seeing at least a 250.00 to 400,00 a person added on your expense . that's a lot of drinking .

Sounds like a miserable cruiser that we often meet on our cruises. Sorry. :rolleyes:

 

It's up to the OP to decide on the cruise of their choice.

 

We prefer long rides to the 7 day cruises.

No not a miserable cruiser just some one who knows how it was to how it is now. With udp now all u have is a bunch of drunk people walking around loud ,arrogant ,puking in the pools and hot tubs ,and elevators . One guy pooped in the pool on the gem because he was so drunk .Did u forget those events ?The dummies who can`t figure out how NCL is paying for the drunks to drink are PLAIN dumb . Prices gone up on everything and food gotten real cheap . But your a expert I see.

Hi everyone, I live in Australia and we are planning a trip to US next year, around Aug/Sept/Oct. We want to finish of with a cruise out of NY that goes to St Maarten and St Thomas. I can only find one and that is on Norwegian Gem on 31st Oct. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this ship.

It`s a waste as a cruise unless you just like long boat rides ,foods SO SO selection not great unless you want to PAY EXTRA to go to speciallty rest. ports are so so tortola only 5 hours do yourself a real favor because of distance find a cruise out of florida or san juan for a real cruise to caribean

NCL has been negotiating with them for the last 2 hours (we should have docked an hour ago), and the resolution is that they are sending a medical team onboard for an inspection.

 

I checked online and it has been something like 2-3 years since there was an outbreak on an NCL ship. They must be pissed to lose their top health and safety rating...

who you kidding I`ve been a few ncl ships in last 2 years with big outbreaks.

It's hard to believe that someone who has been on Cruise Critic since 2005 wouldn't know the drink prices or a charge for room service.

sorry was on the pearl last march no charge for room service and THe same drink malibu and pineapple was 8.50 also

NO NOT THE CLASSICS the other page they recycle pork tenderloins 4 times in 10 days ,beef sliders a apetizer ,EVERY night . and numerous other items with memory you`ll see

wow so most of yous read my post and think oh habitual complainer wow . NO after 33 Cruise not hardly a complainer but can compare what I had it in the past to what it is now . Service now sucks food now barely edible . ,specaillty resturants not just surcharge anymore now they limit and nickel and dime you for more. Being compensated for missing a port was in the past, guess no more . So stop trying to act like were just complaining because we like too . I could have fun on the ss minnow . As a long time platinum ncl crusier I have to ask what happen to ncl . Just got off the gem march 12th sailing and it waslike I had book a dollar store cruise. Drinks 13.00 dollars for a malibu n pineapple , 8.00 for room service ,we had to miss st. martin do to many sick people and THEY give me a $ 9.76 return for missing a port WOw this for a cruise price of over 4 thousand dollars . I told them I can`t even afford your drinks at the price. So we loose 1 of our 3 n half stops and they compensate me $9.76 cents WOW Start taking my money to another cruise line or maybe resorts . There dinner menus are the almost the same everynight with afew different items changed then recycle 2 days later . TERRIBLE I remember ner seeing the same items for at least 7 days , the people on service agreed with me and told to call corporate they will listen to me because I`m platinum lol lol good luck with that they just don`t care ANYMORE so future cruisers beware not like those hyped commercials ANYMORE

no frickin way , no lobster anymore , shrimp cocktails more rice n pastas half the stuff not even sure what it is. Most is the left overs from previous menus

I totally agree with you sizzle NCL has really cheapened up over the last 5 years . I have over 160 days sailing with them so I can speak from long time experience . Took a carnival 3 years ago kinda gave them up years ago but you know the food actually gat alot better on them. The carnival dream was a great ship good food and there slides were really fun, Grandkids loved the whole boat . The pasta bar was a favorite of all of us.

The only I could add is that after 30 cruises I`d never take this cruise for free . I just got off the costa luminosa 10 day caribbean cruise and between the breakfast buffet n the dinner menu your better off odering the pasta everynight . If by chance your a little late for dinner 8:45:pm late is 8:55 they shut dining room door and tell you pizza or room service . Which is no choice at all . We started buying alot of snacks in ports . Of course these boards won`t let the real truth stay on the boARD SO GUESSING THIS WON`T BE ON LONG . i DIDN`T RUN INTO ONE PERSON ON THE CRUISE THAT LIKED IT . tHIS WAS EVEN FROM ITALIANS THEY TOLD US CRUISE msc INSTEAD .

ARE there dining options in the evenings just room service , pizza ,or dining rooms ?? Any night buffets ???

We are cruising the Luminosa on 3/7, for 10 days. We chose it because we are divers and plan to dive at almost all the ports. And you just can't beat the price, especially since they have upgraded us.

 

I have no doubt that we will experience some disappointments, but that usually happens at some level, on most cruises. Whatever the case, for us, this cruise has really been one of the best options of the season. Very much looking forward to it, even if we do experience a disappointment or two....or more.

SO true were booked too . We`ve been on 30 cruises all cruise food gotten to be CHEAPENED looks good but taste has alot to be desired . But I always say your not gonna go hungry . we`ve been on the alantica n the meditrannea had a good time and went home over weight .
