I didn’t know the Miracle was going to dry dock. We sail her in January. Does anybody know any changes that will be happening with her in dry dock?

I doubt it's anything big, just the standard 2 week dry dock they do every 3 years or so, new carpeting, paint, engine room maintenance as needed.

Hotel Maya seems to have a 2 night minimum.  If you only want one night, it will indicate "no rooms available", but if you put in two nights, there ARE rooms.  We wanted to stay there prior to our upcoming January cruise, but we're flying in the day before, so there's no need for two nights.

Their cruise and park package doesn't have the 2 night minimum and even says so on their website.  You can call them directly to make a reservation under that package also.

    Hello,

We will (hopefully) be sailing out of Long Beach  5 nights on the Miracle Nov 4th, 2021.

We live in CA and have never sailed out of Long Beach before.

From what I understand, the Carnival cruise terminal Lot can be a nightmare, slots cannot be reserved and it is expensive.

I am wondering if there are any good parking garages for Long Beach Airport that we can keep our car and Uber or car service to cruise terminal?

Or if anyone has any other Long Beach Parking suggestions or tips? (I do not want to stay in hotel w parking pre-cruise, as there are 5 of us)

    Thank you!

Part of the parking problem there was related to the Queen Mary which shares the garage/lot.  The Queen Mary is currently closed and I doubt will be open by the time you cruise, it needs lots of work!

Just heard that they removed the casino bar from those ships.  Interesting move and didn't expect that to happen.  Suppose to help with the smoking situation and it adds more games.

I read somewhere they removed them because of complaints of smoke smell on the deck above because of the design of the funnel, etc, even though there was glass all around upstairs.

Heck, I usually over analyze and over plan our vacations. I book most cruises about a year in advance. I booked three Princess cruises between December 2021 and November 2022, pretty close to the day their schedule was published. Two are the longer Princess cruises in my signature below, another was a 7 day Princess in December 2021 from Port Everglades.  I made EZ-Fare reservations the first day it was available for the December 2021 Port Everglades and 2022 Mexico cruise from San Pedro. I also booked hotels <pay at the door>, making sure it was reasonably close to the Princess pier. We are pretty familiar with SoCal since my wife was born and raised there, and I lived there during college, so I know what you mean about booking something in the Las Angeles area. It's a HUGE place with lots of options for everything, including airports, cruise terminals and hotels.

Our travel plans for this summer changed a couple of weeks ago, so I cancelled the December Princess, and substituted that shorter Carnival one from NOLA. It's an easy drive from home, no airfare or hotel involved, lesser category cabin, etc. IOW, less expensive! We were unwilling to wait to cruise until February 2022!😎

Doug, I think you're covered!!   That's why we cruise so much out of Long Beach, about a 5 hour drive from home, way easier than flights, etc, etc.....  Have fun on all your upcoming cruises!

Duh, yeah. That's what I get for posting here before I've had enough coffee.😝

Yeah, good catch - our Mexico cruise isn't until February 2022! I'm reasonably sure all will be well by then. I THINK San Pedro cruises before then have a good chance of sailing, and I' be monitoring this thread to see how it goes. But to be on the safe side, I've gotten Princess and Carnival's vacation protection insurance to provide some protection in case I want to cancel after the final payment.

    Doug

Haha, I only noticed that because I've run into a couple cruisers over the years who never cruised out of CA before and had hotels in San Pedro area and were surprised the hotel shuttles wouldn't go to Long Beach!   Ooops.....

Thanks for starting and continuing this thread as your experience continues. We're on a San Pedro cruise to Mexico also, but not until December 2021. Still, it's good to hear things are progressing for earlier cruises!😎

    Doug

Doug, looks like your December 2021 cruise is on Carnival which cruises from Long Beach, not San Pedro, two different ports.

  8. I've been on this itinerary many times, most of the time you cannot see the shoreline except passing the point Guerrero Negro off in the distance and then Cabo, then of course the mainland as you get closer to that.

I kept on hearing luggage trains for maybe a couple of hours last evening inside the dome. What I am thinking it was the two or three head porters/longshoremen driving the luggage trains and trying to get everybody’s checked in bags. All the other porters were already long gone.

Of course everybody was looking for their luggage but there wasn’t really much to update until they found a place for everybody to pick up their bags. From what I heard from the staff, there were many bags left since quite a few people probably left for hotels without their bags.

We were in the Captain's Lounge and couldn't hear them in there, but our friends were outside and everytime I walked out to talk to them later in the day, she'd say, can you hear that?  It ended up being those luggage trains like you say.  There was lots of luggage when we went to get ours.  Then when we walked outside to leave at 8:30 or so, there was a huge line at the main entrance to the dome, apparently the folks who got off the ship earlier before they found the sick woman and shut the whole thing down.   I've seen a few posts on FB about people who left their luggage there and were worried about it.   One older guy we were talking about needed his meds from his luggage, bad idea, never pack that kind of stuff in a checked luggage.

So for those embarking passengers who checked in earlier today and now need to get a hotel tonight, does anyone know if Carnival has finally returned their luggage?  Earlier this evening I heard Carnival as of yet hadn't returned it, but that was before Carnival made the announcement they wouldn't be embarking tonight.

We were in and around the dome waiting to board from 10 am to 8:30 pm and finally got our luggage about 9 pm.   Some folks wanted their luggage earlier but couldn't get it until the 8:30 decision was made to not embark last night.  Apparently some folks had needed meds in their checked luggage, not a good idea, and others were in shorts and tanks and it was getting cold.

We are on the Carnival Panorama leaving out of Long Beach on June 20th. If our flight arrives at 847am in LAX that same day, we should have plenty of time right? It says the ship departs at 4:30 pm.

Maybe, but you have to be on board 60-90 minutes before departure.  They have to turn in a passenger list to Homeland security and do the muster drill before sail away.
