  1. I've sailed Cunard, Holland America, Carnival, Royal Carribean, Norwegian and will sail Celebrity next month.  The only info I have to share is that on our Cuba cruise with NCL the dinners in the MDR were definitely not up to par with any of the other ships we have sailed on.  It could be that they were filling up just due to the destination, but it was definitely disappointing.  Neither of us are the kind that complain at restaurants, but one day my husband actually ordered a different entree after his was delivered because it was so bad.  Other than that, not too much different from our other cruises.

What I think you were asking about is a time of when the price of drinks is discounted. Generally you don’t find that on Celebrity. Once in a great while you will see a discount hour from 10 to 11 PM. Much more rarely, much much more rarely you will see an adternoon deink special hour poolside.  Like five beers for the price of four. But as to a 5 PM cocktail hour special, no.

  3. Does anyone know if they have a happy hour on the Equinox?  We were on Holland America last fall and loved being able to go enjoy the piano bar before dinner with a discounted glass of wine.  We're hoping Celebrity has something similar.

  4. We've always booked inside cabins and they have never bothered us.  We love being outside and have tons of windows at home, but we are only in the cabin to sleep, dress and bathe.  We love being around people so don't need a private balcony, we'd just as soon sit on the deck.  If I was assigned an ocean view I wouldn't care, just isn't a priority for us.

  5. This is our first time sailing on Celebrity and have some questions about their drink packages.  In the past, on Holland America, we have always purchased the bottled wine packages which included 8, 12 or 16 bottles.  Since that is our usual drink, it worked out well, but I can't tell what the wine packages are for Celebrity.  Is the cost for a certain number of bottles, certain number of days, or certain number of glasses?  Also gratuities for the bottles were included, it appears they are separate on Celebrity. Your responses will be appreciated.

  6. Just got back from the Canada/New England cruise on the Veendam. We had a wonderful time and saw NO problems with the ship. The food was superb, service was excellent and the ports we stopped in were all enjoyable. I would not worry about booking this ship for any cruise. Our inside room was spacious compared to other lines that we have cruised on. I did not smell any "offensive odors" and did not see anything that appeared to be needing repair or seemed neglected. Enjoy your cruise, you should have a WONDERFUL time!

  7. We'll be heading out on the Veendam on Sept 8th. We specifically like HAL's smaller ships. We love the promenade deck and the fact that we don't have to walk miles (I do exaggerate) to reach the dining room, bars, etc. We will let you know if we experience any problems, but in the past we have loved HAL. We've taken cruises on Royal Caribbean, Cunard and Norwegian and prefer HAL if the itinerary is one we are interested in.

  8. It's been awhile since we've cruised with HAL and I can't remember if they offer wine by the glass. If so, does anyone know the approximate costs. We usually drink the house wine at restaurants and always like a full bodied red, Malbac or Cabernet. Debating whether to buy a wine package or just go with wines by the glass on board.
