  1. Hi All

Just trying to see what we get with our classic drinks package, which is included with the cruise. However, on the Celebrity website, it says

LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE BY DOWNLOADING THE PDF BELOW (their Caps)

but there is no PDF I can see anywhere. Can anyone help?

  2. We bought a quite rare Tag Heuer watch on board for $3400. Now the thing is, we're from the UK, and at the time it was $2.20 to the £1.00. The cheapest we could find the same watch anywhere in the UK was £2800, so I reckon we made a killing. We've also found Tommy Bahamas shirts on sale too, which are difficult to find in the UK. But Invicta watches? The same as Timex in the UK.

There was a really good scam going on in the UK a while back. A company took out full page ads in high end magazines like Tatler and Vanity Fair showing their watches, with prices over a thousand pounds. Salesmen were then going round stopping people in the street from their cars, showing them the magazine ad and telling them they'd just made a delivery and had a watch left, which they could have for £350 instead of the £1200 in the ad. The watches were worth about £15.00!

  3. That's the first time I've seen that page. Obviously if I'd seen it I would have done something about it.

There was absolutely no mention of it on the invoice, where you would think they would put it.

Even their rep. thought it was on page 3 of the Invoice.

They don't make it easy, particularly as the cruise documents didn't arrive until 12th, BT which time I'd missed a deadline I didn't know existed.

    Catch 22 comes to mind.

  4. Bloody Royal Caribbean.

Booked for 27th Oct., which included free parking.

Got Docs yesterday, no mention of free parking.

    25 minute phone call ensues.

"You should have booked AB parking by 11th"

    Where does it say That?

    "Page 3 of your invoice"

I have the invoice in front of me. No it doesn't. He can't find it either.

"Oh, just a minute" ........ 10 minutes on hold.

    "It's £99 for parking"

No it isn't. I have the invoice in front of me and it says free parking both in the Invoice and added extras.

"Well we can give you $120 on board credit "

No, I want free parking or $150 OBC for the inconvenience.

"Oh, just a minute"....... 10 minutes on hold.

"We will ring AB and arrange parking"

I want an email to confirm.

"Don't worry, we'll get AB to call you"

    So far, nothing.....

    The story continues.

  5. A few years ago, when £1 = $2.30, my DW bought me a Tag Carrera bi- metal (Gold and Stainless), glass back, for $3200 on RC. The watch is quite rare, and it's purchase price in the U.K. was £3100. Bargain.

DW has just won £32,000 in our local casino, so she's bought herself a very fetching white ceramic J12. Got a good price on that too, saved 10%.

  6. Sorry for your accident onboard. It does seem if these doors are heavy that there should be a warning beep when closing. I am glad you had them report the incident although I don't think it will go far. If you really want to make a procedure change you should email corporate head quarters. Not to complain but as a suggestion to prevent it in the future.

I had an incident happen and did not want anything from it but to prevent it from happening to someone else. They went back and reviewed tapes from the ship to see that I was I truthful. ( I had no idea that they could do that. ) I am not sure my suggestion was acted upon but thought it was kind of my duty to report it. I am a seasoned cruiser but if it had happened to a new cruiser it would have left a bad impression. I did not want the crew member to get into trouble but only to be educated how to handle what occurred better in the future . They called me twice in follow up. I felt I was heard.

Thank you for that, I'll email them tomorrow to see if they can improve procedures.

  7. Oops

    Hi

I have terminal cancer. It has spread to my bones, and is in both femurs. I am registered disabled.

I do get around just fine, but slowly and carefully.

I have to watch for uneven flooring so was looking at the floor when the accident happened.

I am not litigious and I have no intention of claiming anything. I was more concerned about how an accident like this could happen. The doors closed at some speed and I was really shaken because of my frail bones.

    Thank you.

  8. We have just left IOS after a great cruise to Oslo.

The day before disembarking in Southampton, we were leaving the Windjammer after an afternoon snack. I am disabled, so walk quite slowly with a cane, keeping an eye on where I walk as I am very unsteady.

Just as we were leaving, a crew member must have pressed a button to close the large wooden doors at the entrance. One of them slammed into me with considerable force, and if it hadn't been for the support of my wife, I would have been knocked to the ground. I was totally shocked and badly shaken up, needing to sit for 15 minutes on a bench dragged over for me to sit on. The crew member was apologetic, but I had to insist he recorded the incident. He did offer to take me to the doctor, but I didn't want to end up with a bill for something that wasn't my fault.

We received a call later at 6.30 to see if I was OK. I confirmed I was badly shaken, but didn't think there was any serious damage. Today, back at home, I can now see serious bruising along my right arm and extremely sore knuckles where the door struck me.

What should I do about this so it doesn't happen to someone else?

  9. Our first cruise about 17 years ago was a reposition from Miami to Rome, on Norwegian Dream, so lots of sea days.

On the third day, walking through the casino, I put $20 in a slot and dropped $5000. As we're Brits, no tax.

The following day, same thing, walking through the casino and my DW says "go on, have another go". So I put $10 in the machine next to the previous days, and won $3000.

We've done quite well on cruises, more often than not nearly winning enough to clear the cabin account.

  10. Gorey Castle is really good, great seafood restaurants nearby, but not suitable if you're disabled. Gerald Durrell Zoo on the island is good too, with an interesting restaurant.

Local buses are really cheap, you can get a day ticket from the bus station, 50 metres up the road from The Pomme D'Or Hotel.

  11. My DW and I decided to upgrade from an ocean view to an ocean view with balcony, so I ring customer services. They've got a 30% discount and OBC offer, so we choose a cabin on deck 8, and then we work on the money.

I've already paid for our original booking, so he wants the balance of the new booking, less our payment.

He says can I hold, he will speak to reservations, then two minutes later comes back to the phone to tell me he can't give me the 30% off deal, as my original booking was a deal.

This sounds crazy, so I ask don't they want my money?

I give it a bit of thought and ask "if I cancel my original booking, will they refund my money?"

Yes, he says, less the £50 deposit.

"And then, I can have this new booking with the discount and OBC?"

    Yes, he says.

So I'm prepared to lose £50 to get 30% off and $100 OBC.

So I can't upgrade, but I can cancel and rebook.

    Madness!

  12. On our very first cruise some 15 years ago, we were on a reposition from Miami to Rome with NCL. On the third day at sea, I put $10 in a slot and won $6000. The following day we were walking through the casino and my wife asked me to play the same machine again. I told her no way, I'll play the machine next to it and with another $10 won $3000. As we are British, we took the lot in cash and didn't have any tax deducted. The rest of the cruise was a dream.....

  13. THe Pound has already strengthened back to where it was against the Euro last week, Dollar just a bit down, but nothing to worry about. Its about profiteering by speculators, not the real world. Business as usual here in the UK. The EU has some serious problems now. For a start, one of the biggest paymasters just pulled the rug - the UK.

Holland next, then France, and so on.

The problem with the EU is it became a political entity without democracy, rather than the Common Market it was supposed to be. It can't last in todays world. We want a say in our country's management.

  14. I too can recommend TJ travel. They have their own website, and are quick to respond.

We got into museums early, and into places like the room where Rasputin was murdered, plus a hydrofoil trip to the summer palace. They didn't ask us to pay until the tour finished. Our guide spoke excellent english and was very knowledgeable.

They handled the Visas, and it was a 12 seater minibus so not overcrowded.

  15. I've got no intention of making anyone suffer whilst I'm struggling with this piece. It's very difficult to play, and means constant repetition of sections, enough to drive even the best music lover insane. Luckily, my wife understands my obsession with this piece. Look it up on YouTube. Chopin Ballade No 1 in G minor.

  16. Hi Everyone

On the last few cruises we were on, we managed to find a room with a piano so that I could keep up my daily practice. Does anyone know if there's a piano anywhere on board that's a little out of the way so i dont annoy too many people. I'm presently learning Chopin's Ballade No 1 which is a killer and really needs daily catchups.

    Thanks in advance

    Martin
