  1. Make sure you go through the cash lane, you're charged a crapton if you use their responder. Found out when I forgot I was in a rental and my car with the ezpass was in the shop on my commute to work.

for sure! we can bring our own sunpass (we live in FL )

  2. Since you have a leased car this probably does not apply to you esp. if you are gonna turn it in when the lease expires. You shouldn't drive a car for extended trips at steady highway speeds for the first 1000 miles of owning a new car. It needs to be a variaty of different speeds. Think driving around town on surface streets and some highway driving.

I doubt RCCL will store the car seat for you. As other say, put your suitcases under the bed and the seat in the closet.

yea, i found dirt cheap rentals and i think we will just make due in the cabin with it, just to er on the side of caution :) thanks!

  3. Your cost of the rental would most likely exceed the excess milage charges at the lease end. At an average .20 per mile thats $100, and that going round trip Miami-orlando.

And reputable car rental excluding FOX, and those other no frills car rental co’s. Your cost, one way surcharge, sunpass activation, car seat rental. Thats assuming you don’t purchase any additional add on’s. Will cost you more.

Why lease a car, and not enjoy it. It’s madness.

well considering the car is 3 days old, I don't want to do that. I would like to save the excess miles for things that I cannot avoid.

It actually will cost me LESS to do 2 one way rentals than pay for parking for my new car to sit in the garage in Miami. Parking is $88, 2 one way rentals, PLUS uber to/from the port is $73

you can put your seat on a magna type cart (about $25), secure it with bungee cords and wheel it through the port onto the ship. The kid can even ride in it:

yea, getting it around isn't my concern. It is where to store it for the length of the cruise.

  5. please-please-please don't ever advise anybody to rely on a rental car seat. You never know if they've been in an accident, puked or peed on and then improperly cleaned, if cleaned at all, if the straps were ever submerged in water or run through the washer. Never ever use your or somebody else's child as a crash test dummy.

    OP,

I stored a Britax Frontier in the closet along with two large suitcases without any problems. And it's a huge, 25# seat.

How old is your child, how tall and heavy? What car seat do you have?

Also, for tips on traveling with children, please check out Traveling with Children board on https://community.babycenter.com/groups/a10635/traveling-with-children and Family Cruises board on cruisecritic (https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=49).

YES to all of that lol. I really don't want to use someone else's seat.

She is 4, about 35lbs 45". I have a Gracco Extend to fit so she is rear facing still.

  6. So i just got a new car and now I REALLY don't want to leave my car in the port or drive it that far (orlando to miami on a lease). I was looking at rentals and i can do 2 one way rentals for about what i would pay to park, but then the car seat issue comes into play.

Does anyone know if there is a storage place that they will hold it for the length of the cruise or do i have to keep it in my cabin?

  7. When I was in Nassau in 2016, I made my own solo walking tour. One of my stops was Graycliffs.

It was about $25. As I was solo, I joined a small family with 2 daughters who I roughly guess to have been 8 & 5.

The tour was great and even though I had no relation to the kids it was sooo much fun to watch their faces light up and their reactions to trying dark, milk, and white chocolate straight out of the mixers.

So your 4 probably will like it. Plus you get to pick a free piece of chocolate from their display case afterwards ... what kiddo wouldn’t like that!!!

that sounds more in my budget lol! is it within walking distance?

  8. Have you priced out two one way car rentals? Orlando to MIA and MIA back to Orlando? Saves you the miles on your car and any parking fees. National, Alamo, Thrifty and Enterprise offer free shuttles between MIA and POM (show the driver your rental paperwork).

yep more than parking. its only a 4 night

  9. Great deal -

Yesterday RC offered me a "waiting list" upgrade on Allure from OV Standard Balcony to OV Large Balcony for $300. I found it humorous.... at best.

lol that is a mess! I saw that the mariner had a bunch of aft cabins avail but on closer inspection, the lower decks have a few hundred feet of floor and rafters in the way before the water. I didn't want that and it was 87 to upgrade to a 7D online so I called and she offered me a 3D instead for way less. We are still outsite final payment and sail so I will probably keep watching it and hope for something bigger possibly.

They also threw in free rice crispie flowers for my daughter. is this new?! i never heard of them doing free stuff in the room

  10. Interesting....assuming a 10 day cruise.....MIA parking would be $170.

Two one-way car rentals (Budget) would total $100.00. Maybe less if you use the 'name your own price' thing at Priceline.

    4 day cruise :)
