  1. Please tell us what you thought of the Steakhouse. My husband and I along with my parents (their first cruise) will also be on the Conquest in October. We have never had the new Steakhouse menu and would love to know what you all had and what you thought of it!!

We have done the Steakhouse once before and throughly enjoyed it. The Conquest Steakhouse did not disappoint! I think I like the the new menu much better.

For starters we had: shrimp cocktail, tuna tartare, stuffed mushrooms, ice and smoked oysters, beef marrow & beef tartare, crab risotto, and Caesar salad. We all shared and everything was delicious, with the exception of the oysters. It just didn’t suit my taste. It could’ve been the type of oysters. If you’re into to raw foods I highly suggest the tartares.

For entrees we had: the grilled lamb-exceptional, surf & turf, and filet. We had multiple sides, mac & cheese, baked potatoes, garlic rapini (very garlicky and kind of reminded me of broccoli rabe).

For dessert we had: chocolate sphere - very very nice presentation, but extremely chocolaty, obviously, and the other girls had the cheesecake which they did not like. It had a lemon flavor and also had coconut flakes, neither of which was in the description.

With dinner they also had a wine tasting option, I had not noticed it before. At just $18 total (we didn’t purchase cheers), I thought that was a STEAL!

  2. I am sailing on the Conquest in September and also staying at Marriott Harbor Beach the night before! Never stayed there so don't know what to expect. I would love to see the Funtimes and also learn about what the nightly theater shows are like.

Got it!! The hotel was very very nice. So much is included and our rooms were ready at 12:30 (I requested it). I will be posting fun times and will try and check out a few shows.

  3. Hi. I’m fairly new to CC, but like many others I’ve learned so much. So to pay it back (and forward), since I’ll be sailing on the Conquest today, please let me know any information you are looking for.

It’s me and a group of 4 other women, all in our early to mid 30’s. All, with the exception of one of us, has cruised before. We have two side by side balcony rooms and we purchased FTTF.

The itinerary is: 5 days to Nassau, HMC, and Grand Turk out of Ft. Lauderdale/Port Everglades.

    Nassau - Breezes

HMC - beach day, I’ll be doing the bike and hike tour solo

Grand Turk - Snorkeling tour through White Sands, with (hopefully) some time to spend at Jacks.

In Ft. Lauderdale we are staying at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort - it is fabulous! We got a great rate (under $200) and the service and other perks just phenomenal. I would highly recommend a stay here.

So far onboard we are only scheduled for the Steakhouse, tonight. I’ll definitely be taking advantage of the 50% off wine deal! None of us have any spa time booked and likely won’t this time around.

I’ll probably do a very small review later, but I’ll be somewhat connected and I’m happy to answer any questions along the way!

  4. Thanks for reporting back. I’m thinking of doing this on my next cruise. But I will be solo. Is the bus a safe environment? For comparison, I don’t feel comfortable on most US city buses. Maybe a taxi would be better. Glad you won and had a great time! Did you eat there too?

If you don’t feel comfortable on most US busses, I would not recommend that you take a jitney. Not because I think it was unsafe, but because of your own comfort level.

  5. I have not done Lucayan so I can’t comment on that, although several posters have commented on how great it is. I do intend to try it next time I pass trough Freeport.

I did a day at Paradise Cove, booked directly through their website. It was a great day. We saw lots of fish, including a mystery fish, and also a turtle. The food was just okay...we had burgers as it was included in our price. Next time I would not choose that option and just get whatever I wanted (grouper sandwich). Anyway, small crowd and everyone was very friendly. Highly recommend it.

  6. I was reading on another site about a common issue with Cheers - non drinker getting Cheers because the other 2 cabin mates are drinkers. It dawned on me that an easy solution is to refund after the cruise. Carnival can easily that this person did not take advantage of the package in any way, here’s a refund. It eliminates the issue of sharing. Do I expect Carnival to do this? No. I’m not sure if they’d lose money or actually make more. But I think it would work and would be a good move from a customer service perspective.

  7. To clarify, go to the carnival website. If you don’t have an account create one. Then add in this cruise with your booking number. With the site you can do a variety of things including, check info and checking for FTTF. It will be found in the shore excursions section when managing your booking.

People here have had success around the time final payments are due - 60 days prior to sailing.

    Good luck.

  8. Just went directly to Breezes website after seeing an increase in price on a third-party site ($104). Breeze has the day pass at $100. I will still use the site I used last year which has a price of $93, with a 9% deposit and just pay the remainder (whatever that may be) when I get there. Just passing along the info.

  9. At home we play video games together...that is actually how we met. We are fairly young. I am 27 he is 35.

    Yikes!

Based on this and that it’s the first cruise for both of you, I suggest stepping out of the box. Use this as a chance to try new things that you wouldn’t ordinarily do. Of course some of those things will not appeal to you, but some of those things most certainly will! There’s plenty to do but it sounds like you both could afford to branch out quite a bit.

P.S. I’m 34....27 and 35 isn’t that young!! But it certainly is too young to place limits on activities. I suggest branching out and trying new things as a lead up to the cruise - make this important vacation as a new opportunity to expand yourselves and grow.

  10. I also do not prefer sea days but in my very limited experience I’ve noticed that they are good rest days, especially if they fall in the middle of a cruise or at the very end. There’s plenty to do. If he’s interested in massages or something like that. If he’s not interested in spa treatments, it might be a good time to give it a try. If he’s into fitness, the gym is a cool place to kill a little time.

Perhaps pack a few small games...I recently played uno with my boyfriend and we had a blast. Lol

There’s ton to do on the ship, but failing finding a few good activities, perhaps just do what you’d normally on at home. Watch tv, if you have a tablet, download some movies or shows, read a book, pack, lounge around, etc etc.

  11. Because of this thread and the fact that I own a full face mask, I decided to do some more research. I stumbled on some great YouTube videos discussing proper usage and why people are having issues with them. One video illustrated how the mask works - co2 and oxygen flow through different tubes. What I got from these videos is that these masks are meant for light use, they are not intended for intense activities where you may experience heavy breathing, and that inferior ,aka knock-off brands may not be built right to ensure proper removal of co2.

I will continue to use this mask and am grateful for the information. I suggest researching the brand to ensure that it is designed properly, watching some videos, and spending some time at home getting comfortable walking around in your mask.

  12. Somewhere between $1.25 and $1.75. I am not certain of the cost because I thought it was one price, but it was posted in the bus as another, lower price. I had brought what I thought was exact change and just handed that over. We walked around a bit before catching the jitney on a side street.

  13. Agree with the suggestion of Melia. It’s a much cheaper beach day. The con is that food and drink aren’t included, but honestly with that price, I wouldn’t expect it to be. I enjoyed the resort, the beach area was beautiful. I recommended Bahamian Cookin for a good bite to eat (not open on Sunday’s) and the Daq Shack across from Melia was nice. We took the #10 jitney, it’s an interesting ride that takes you a bit off the tourist path (I never felt unsafe).

  14. I also agree that it’s a nice courtesy. I did think that if you have speciality reservations that the MDR is notified. I only say that because one night I had dinner in the steakhouse and the next night my MDR waiting asked how we liked it. Has anyone else had this same experience?
