  1. I would suggest finding a hotel that has a "park and cruise" package. I live in Tampa but have done this both times from Canaveral. These packages are a flat rate that include the room, (usually) breakfast, shuttle to/from the port (I LOVE not having to deal with that traffic!) and your car is safe at the hotel parking lot for the duration for your trip. There are many of these in Tampa.

Ybor is a lot of fun, the Historic Cuban Quarter, lots to see and do and a *very* active (and sometimes dangerous) night life. Channelside, which is where the ships port also has some fun shops, some really great resturaunts. The close by downtown area is great too.

  2. It is nearly 60 miles from MCO to Port Canaveral, over an hour drive easily without heavy traffic. Both times I've cruised from Canaveral I stayed at a hotel (driving from Tampa) that had a "cruise" package (including a decent breakfast, shuttle to the port, and could leave my car parked there without having to worry).

A taxi from MCO to Canaveral could cost you a fortune. A google search will show shuttle companies, I have not used any in this area however I have used Super Shuttle (supershuttle.com) in the Tampa area and had a great experience.

  3. most/all bars will have menus out with drinks like above, The Cruiser, Kiss on the Lips, margarita, rum runner etc, and they are always great, as well as the fun ship special that changes daily. Anything from Alchemy will be fantastic, the mixologists there are happy to make up something that you'll like based on your preferences, they have a menu as well. The remedy is a great place to start!

  4. I’m a bit of a coffee snob. The room service coffee suits me fine, but maybe sitting on a balcony makes it taste better? 😁 Coffee in the MDR is a little better, and the small upcharge for the coffee bar is worth it, part of why I get Cheers now.

  5. Will be overnight in Havana in August, wondering if there is a time limit on when we should be back on board on the first day? Or is it ok to stay out very late before heading in for the night? Will we be allowed on/off at any time during the stay or only during certain hours? TIA!

  6. Looking for ideas of stuff to check out in December, we don't typically like the regular 'touristy' spots and prefer to see things that are a bit more... authentic? I guess? Would love to check out some amazing local hole in the wall restaraunts for a casual lunch while exploring. Neither of us have been to either port, and this is BF's cruise ever.

  7. In Roatan a few years ago, we booked in advance a private cabana on the beach right at the port. We had a sectioned of chunk of beach just for us, a little cabin with AC and a few chairs, couch which we used to change, a hammock, and some out door seating. TONS of room for 5 of us, wait staff visited us frequently, we had some great drinks and food (not included). I think it was around $200 for the day, and was so well worth it.

  8. We're just off the Liberty 3-night cruise today. I know it's not the 4-night, but just wanted to mention that our cruise had Elegant night on day 2 (Nassau) and Chef's Table on day 3 (sea day/last night). Chef's Table was worth every penny, and if you have questions about the menu, fire away. I have the menu right here. :)

Also, Liberty had some cool experiences that I've not seen before in 20+ Carnival cruises: we were randomly tapped to head in to the galley in the early evening on Elegant night and have the Sous Chef talk us through the menu and let us sample 2 appetizers, 2 main courses, and 2 desserts. Yum! It was very personal - just our party of 3. We had just returned from Nassau and were enjoying fruity cocktails in the lobby when the Maitre d' asked us to come back. We were also (randomly?) selected to be escorted to the bow of the ship (through the crew areas) during the arrival in to Nassau. There was a complimentary drink station (mimosas, bloody mary's, water, soda, etc), senior staff to chat about Nassau's history, and a ship's photographer. I have no idea what we did to rate the invites, but they were pretty amazing!

I'd love to see the menu! Have reservation for the chef table on Liberty's Dec 3, 4days to bahamas.

  9. are gratuities included with this package? If I recall, all drink orders have a gratuity added automatically (15% I think?)

Just trying to decide if it will be worth it for a 4-day....Since the coffee bar is included I'm sure I'll make it worthwhile! :D
