  1. We also sailed on her the month before as first timers and were completely satisfied with everything. Also rented a lido cabana and really enjoyed the week of pampering. However was not blessed with great weather but made the best of it. Service was great except outside pool area but like you, had to listen to alot of negativity from other passengers.

  2. Hello,

My DH and I are also on the 11/4/17 sailing of the Rotterdam. We went to the HAL excursions (generic version) for Cap Cana, since we don't have specific excursions listed yet. The HAL 5-hour Sail & Snorkel Adventure looks good to us.

I tried to determine which vendor HAL is using for this excursion, but wasn't able to determine that. It would be nice to know the vendor and their reputation. I considered booking privately on one of the top-rated vendors on TA, but I've read that tendering at Punta Cuna can be "iffy," depending on the wind and swells.

Apparently, all or almost all cruise line excursions that end at a beach day (not the catamaran or snorkel excursions) go to Juanillo Beach. My back-up plan would be to try to get a taxi to Juanillo beach, since it is "open to the public." Apparently, ID may be requested. That may be just for vehicles entering the beach area (that ID is kept by the guard station until the vehicle leaves) or it may be requested for everyone. In reading comments on TA, it appears that they are trying to keep "riffraff" out.

Can anyone visiting Cap Cana before Nov 5th give us answers to the following?

    • How far is it to Juanillo beach from the tender dock at the Cap Cana marina?
    • Is it easy to get a taxi both ways? What was the fare? Other options?
    • Who is the vendor for the 5-hr Sail & Snorkel Adventure?
    • Was anyone successful in booking and participating in private snorkel excursions? (Details, please)

    Thank you!!

    Diana

  3. Sail the ship is there, but you have to be referred by a hospital and some people still have no access to medical care. You also have to be taken to the ship by boat, so it's hard for anyone to get there on their own. They are doing an incredible job, and more people need to be able to get help there. There are also a lot of Veterans on the island, and the VA is open and providing care as well.

From a VA nurse please take care of our VETS. TIA

  4. we are sailing on the 12th on HAL Eurodam and did not get notification of changes yet. Changed yesterday on line I guess originally for St Marteen then St Croix now St Thomas. Again I do not believe they are ready for ships either. Go to St Thomas face book hurricane updates. Tells the real story of the condition of the :(islands.

  5. it was posted today on HAL website with port updates/changes. Husband received email also. I never got the email even though i am the primary contact. Doesn't matter to me where we go as long as I'm not working, Ship can sail around in circles for 7 days as long as I have sun and a drink in hand and someone else is serving my meals. Can't wait for first cruise 37 days and counting.....
