Very dissapointed. They just want more sea days to re coupe thier loses

It's clear as day what the problem is...... You're going out of New York City. Try to imagine saying it with a southern drawl, and you'll understand. Just giving you a hard time. ...... To me best part of cruising is at sea. I should have been a fleet sailor, not a dirt sailor. Hope you have a very fun and great time in spite of your disappointment.

  2. I'm literally having this same discussion in another thread (although the other poster is claiming that people with bits of tech actually negatively impact her cruise experience), so I have to ask: how do you know what people are doing with their phones, specifically?

I'm often listening to a podcast or audiobook on mine. Is that okay, or is it worth laughing at? How will you know if I'm texting or simply picking the next book to listen to? Or for that matter, what if I'm reading an ebook?

I'm also a writer and often use my phone or iPad to edit whatever I've written that day at sea. Is that okay? Can you tell if I'm doing that or checking Facebook? Never mind that I don't use Facebook, of course.

    Yep.

  3. I'm not quite sure why there are those on here that felt like it was their responsibility to tell people what they are and are not suppose to be doing while they are on a cruise, or that they cannot accept that there are those who can't disconnect from the grid for a week or two while they are on THEIR vacation, but it really is none of your business, is it?

I've ran across quite a few instances where people had sick parents back home where they needed to stay in contact with family members at least daily; or a small business owner that was the only one authorized to release payroll for her company, and could do so using the internet of the ship; or after having left home for vacation a natural disaster struck, and they were checking on the status of their house from neighbors during the week; people who had family members sitting with their kids that chose not to go with them while they were on vacation, and were checking in daily to make sure everything was OK; those that like to update their daily blogs for their loyal followers; or upload dozens of images taken that day to their Flickr account to free up some space on a cell phone; kids who like to check-in with their friends on FB back home to let them know how much fun their having on their Princess cruise; or to check the daily news, stocks, or maybe the weather report for your flight home.

There are an infinite number of reasons why someone may want to log onto the Internet. If none of them are yours, or you choose not to partake of the Internet while at sea, then fine. But do not presume to tell those that do so that they should be using their time better spent doing something else.

I will agree with your post in substance. I think it's ridiculous to go to dinner and texting. Or carrying your phone around all day. Going to a nice dinner at the resturant and a young couple be texting on their phones. To each his own for whatever reason. But I still reserve the right to laugh at the self important people out there, just like laughing at the guys with pants on the ground.

  4. So, we booked a cruise on the Victory for a quick getaway this month and paid extra for an Ocean Suite for my grandmother and I and our roommates, her sister and her husband. Well, we booked the cruise around 50 days before departure and were promised to be paid the next day. Well, it's been 4 weeks. If I cancel, I'd only get about $300 back for them. I'm just trying to weigh my options. I just don't want this to be an ill vacation where I have to stomach the fact that the lied and used us. It's not like they are going through hard times, they lied when they said they would pay me back. She just happened to tell us that she maxed out all her credit cards and has not had money for months!

Next time, we will require it up front. It's put my grandmother in an emotional situation. So yes, our fault, but it's just hurtful and deceitful. Money isn't a problem, it's the fact that they used us.

    Lesson learned.

Don't you just love family. The death of a loved In a family brings out the worse in people. So this is mild. Just life. We are careful about suggesting and inviting people and family to join us. It's expensive for us. I can't afford to pay for others. If you want to join us. This is the cruise line, this is the date, if you like to go, join us. I feel your pain. Will I see you on Judge Judy? I'm just giving you a hard time. Good luck.

  5. Right? Why would anyone think about canceling their cruise due to what's going on right now?

I'm sure eggs and meat are plentiful.

Sorry to be snarky but come on now let's use you brain.

I agree with you, but I don't think your comment is snarky. This whole post reminds me of the lyrics in a song. "If I only had a brain". Now I would say that is snarky. I should really be nice, but sometimes I can sneak one by my adult supervision. [emoji482] [emoji482] [emoji481] [emoji482] [emoji2] [emoji476] [emoji476]

  6. You can use your boarding pass to make purchases prior to getting your S&S card.
    So I'm good to go. It's all about the beer. [emoji476] [emoji476] [emoji2] [emoji2] [emoji481] [emoji481] [emoji482]

  7. I don't like the idea because I like having my card to get my beer. But security concerns should be minimal. Your picture pops up on the computer. Unless your an ugly old man, you wouldn't be able to use mine.

  8. We met one lady who had a horn on her scooter and would use it if people were in her way. I think the scooter only had one speed - fast.
I would agree about someone on the scooter blowing a horn. But I handle simple. I don't move. Smile, turn around in their path and say you are hard of hearing. I usually point to my hearing aids. My adult supervision usually tries to reign me in. She does have a tough job. But that's why I love her and take her on all these cruises. She'll tell you that she takes me. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Looking forward to our cruise in December.

  9. Yes you do go to the Atlantic side.... I'm told .there's even a lunch stop the bus makes where you can purchase food.
Maybe I've got the wrong island, but I was under the impression it's the carribean sea, not the Atlantic. But I spent a lot of my life being wrong.

  10. I took a small igloo cooler. Holds a six pack. Asked the room steward if he would keep it full for my beer. Had iced beer the entire cruise. I tipped him and his crew extra in cash. But I usually do tip extra for a very good job by our cabin stewards. this I do also for the wait staff and bar tenders.

  11. My cruise is Oct 29th thru Nov 5th. I have flown out of the MIA airport but had a later flight. Our group usually is off the boat by 8:30 and the port is less than 20 minutes to the airport I believe. If we missed it, we could always rent a car and drive home I guess.

We always look at the most important part is getting on the cruise. Going home is optional.
