Two Wheels answered my question and quoted the policy to my question and it was appreciated because I apparently mid-read it when I looked it up myself. It was very helpful to a first timer and his knowledge was appreciated.. not taken as rude

You will be fine. I just got off the Escape yesterday and I saw t-shirts, gym shorts, hooded sweatshirts, flip flops, and baseball hats on men, women, and children in the Manhattan all four nights I ate there.
We want to be us and be comfortable, but also don't want to "offend". :)

Thanks.. we wouldn't wear shorts and Tshirts except maybe lunch. I usually will always have on Capri pants but he usually lives in Jean shorts.. I just wanted to double check if he can bring jeans for dinner of if we actually had to go buy him clothes just to go to dinner in..

My fiancé and I are not people that love to "dress up" .. we are on vacation and just want to be comfortable. Are we resigned to the buffet for the entire cruise? From everything I see, we are not allowed to wear shorts in dining rooms, and that is fine.. however what about jeans? Does my fiancé have to wear "shoes" or can he wear a nice pair of sneakers with his jeans? Does he HAVE to wear a polo or button down shirt?
First time cruisers which is why I am trying to get clarification

I have a question.. since I've never cruised before.. When we get to a port.. what if I wanted to buy local rum to bring home? Does it have to be bought at a duty free shop or can I just turn it into the ship until we get home? I really don't know how that works

Can I bring water or soda on board? - FAQ
Effective for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages -- including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soda and juices -- on board either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older).
Thanks.. I read all that and stopped after "Liquor" .. I didn't read far enough to see the wine part heh .. Sorry .. first time cruiser here going out on The Escape on Oct 7th. :)

There is always a corkage fee when bringing on wine on NCL. This is not new and you probably could have saved the hassle if you had it packed in your carry on bag so you could have paid it when embarking the ship.
I thought NcL had a strict no beverages of any kind allowed to be brought on board policy?

I was excited about possibly bidding for a balcony room for our December cruise. But yesterday there was a price drop, plus we would get another free perk if we just paid to upgrade ourselves for $350. Seems like that would be a better deal than trying to bid on something we may or may not get.

I'd go for the upgrade then.. this way you get a balcony if you really want one.. then you can bid on a mini suite or Haven later .. :)

Do you get notified that you didn't get it?

We sail out on 10/5 and haven't heard anything on my bids hehe.. I booked my balcony that I wanted anyway.. was hoping for an off chance of a cheap Haven or a very cheap mini suite .. but either way I am happy with the room I booked. :)

It seems like we have many consistent themes...wondering if the newer cruisers are reading?

Is the UBP good only in complimentary places, or is it also valid at say.. Margaritaville for just going to the bar?

Do you drop off your luggage somewhere or do you have to lug it around with you until your cabin is ready?

So basically the answer is.. get there early and try but everyone else has priority over you and most likely we will not get one

Yes I realized after that it was a dumb question about Haven as I forgot that kids would be in that space also.
