So we have been to CoCo Kay in the past and have always enjoyed it as "beach day".  With the new "for charge" activities, is there still a free beach to just go to and relax?  We have plenty of waterparks here and have no desire to pay for the day, just looking for a relaxing beach experience.  Any advice?

Heading to the port in a few hours, just wondering what was the status with the Noro virus? Any special measures in place? Just wondering what to expect. Thanks!

They sent out notification last week of a delayed check in but we were checked in by 10:30 and on board just after 11.

 

Cabins weren’t available until 2pm.

Just curious, were u told check on would be after 1? I'm trying to figure out what time to get to port tomorrow...we were told after 1 due to cleaning and maintenance, is this similar to what you were told? Thanks for the info.

Noro...cleaning for sure...I would be more than happy to let them clean as much as they want/need ;)

Anyone ever use a CPAP on Anthem? On past cruises I have been on there have been limited outlets by the bed to plug it into it. I have brought extension cords in the past, but I know Royal is particular about what extension cords are allowed. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Most places in Dallas/Richardson/Plano/Mckinney are out of gasoline. Diesel still widely available. $2.50 is the prevailing price but regular is uniformly out. So $2.90 premium is what you get. I filled up before the hurricane landed. Not sure how the school bus logistics will work, though. --

 

 

 

Modern civilization appears to be very robust but is actually very fragile and depends completely upon readily available gasoline, diesel, electricity, pure water supplies and operating sewer plants.

 

Remove any one of those key components and chaos happens immediately.

 

This is why the EMP threat is considered Doomsday. And I absolutely agree that it would be.

 

Remove any of those components listed above and civilization panics and immediately goes into hysterics.

 

In San Antonio, we have 2 vehicles. I filled up one yesterday when all was still normal and calm. The other was only half full. So, hearing some news of lines forming I went to the 3 big gas stations near my house. All already had.. no gasoline.

 

I then went to pick up my grand kids from school to take them to their house.

 

I am normally gone 1 hour and 15 minutes each day to do this. Today it took 2 hours and 15 minutes. Most gas stations already have no gas but any that do...then lines immediately form and these gas lines then spill out into the street for blocks and take out a traffic lane, so traffic immediately becomes snarled. Some in line won't make it to the pumps before the gas is depleted.

 

The school districts all issued alerts to parents and the media that due to traffic jams forming around every gas station still having fuel, kids would be 45-60 minutes late getting home. Er, I saw a school bus still dropping kids at 6:45 pm. And when the bus fuel supplies are depleted???

Home school???

 

Many here will remember the gas lines of the 1970's...I sure do...today in San Antonio and Dallas were just like that. A friend who travels the rural areas for a car parts dealer said the small towns are already mostly out of fuel because city folks drove out into the country and drained them dry. It is a full blown panic.

 

I pity anyone who had low gas supplies in any vehicle today after 10 am. That vehicle is now worthless.

 

Of course the Mayor went on TV and said, "Don't fill up if you don't need gas." Yeah, right.

 

Soon we will see fill on "alternate days based on plate number" and "no more than 10 gallons per purchase"...watch and see...

 

Because of the large amount of refinery capacity idled by Harvey...this could spread outside of Texas very soon...

 

Good luck all...( If you are in Texas and have a vehicle that is not filled to capacity...do that...now.)

Being from NY, we lived with this after Hurricane Sandy....No gas for about 2 weeks! We did have to go the alternate plate system and the lines were crazy. I work in healthcare and our hopsital actually supplied tractor trailers filled with gasoline so that essential employees could get to work, we actually filled our cars stright from the tanker truck. Crazy! I wish all the people of texas a speedy recovery!

Just got an email for a sale on the deluxe beverage package and Voom (1 device) for $54 pp per day, total of$433 for our 7 day cruise on the Anthem....offs this a good deal?

Also I think I read on the boards that if I do decide to buy the package and it drops cheaper I can refund this package and purchase the cheaper one...anyone have any experience with this? TIA

Anyone know if they will open the balcony partitions on connecting cabins? We have 3 cabins in a row (2 connect) and would like to open the partitions for 1 long balcony.

Just off the Gem today, never had a wait for the MDR for the 2 of us, and we went at varying times, also no wait for orchid garden. We did have reservations for Moderno, Cagney's and Le Bistro, which i recommend even for two people. Also if you make a reservation on line before your trip, make sure you carry a copy of your confirmation (I screen shot mine on my phone). When we showed up at Le Bistro they didn't have our reservation, the snooty maitre de said they have problems with reservations transferring over to the ship system and unless i had a copy of our confirmation, she couldn't help me (Even after admitting there was a problem) . Thankfully i had the screen shot on my phone!

We missed their private island on the April 30 sailing… And they said it was due to the same problem, maintenance on the Azipod I'm not sure what it is or how long it takes to fix it but it does seem like it takes quite a while! Yet it doesn't seem to affect any other part of the ship but putting the anchor down at their private island? I don't get it

They need the azipods to control fine positioning, in GSC the have to anchor and position the ship so ot blocks the tenders from on coming seas. Wouldn't be safe if the azipods weren't working. I enjoyed following your posts from the villa!

going to the private island was one of the things I was looking forward to, as long as the weather is nice will have to make do and have a great time see you on the ship tomorrow

Thank you for sharing this information. I am also sailing out tomorrow but have not received any email yet. Did you book directly through NCL? I had been preparing myself mentally that we would probably miss the island. Now this information gives me time to start planning out things and pack according to the new itinerary.

Maybe it's just me, but this seems to be more than just maintenence, now i saw another thread that they cancelled the stop on the 5/21 trip too

And it's canceled for tomorrow’s sailing as well. This seems more than just maintenance

Leaving tomorrow on the Gem and just got the dreaded email! Giving us the customary $50 cabin credit. Pretty bummed as this was the port we were looking forward to the most!

I personally think a lot of these promos are just another tool to hike the cruise fares. I booked 2 weeks ago for the Gem leaving this Saturday. When I was choosing my cabin selection there was an option the book with no promos. I booked a balcony guarantee for half the price of what it would have cost to have booked with their promotions going on. When I did the math it would have cost us close to $2,000 more to book with the " free promotions" i booked a "no frills" rate. I don't drink too much, maybe a few since I'll be on vacation, my wife drinks more than me but I don't think she will drink $2,000 worth of liquor in a week!

I also think that shower head is detachable which should make it pretty easy. You should join or roll call for this Saturdays sailing, we have a M&G scheduled for Sunday, maybe we'll see you on board!

Just got an upsell email and caked the upsell dept, I'm currently in a mini-suite (which i booked dirt cheap , no promos though) and they want an additional 500 pp for a balcony penthouse.
