  1. Just a quick tip to anyone struggling with a weak or unreliable wifi signal: make sure your device is set to treat the connection as metered.  Most phones will do this automatically but it is my experience that laptops do not and tablets vary.  Setting the connection as metered means that your device won't download updates and other nonsense in the background while you struggle to check your email, and can make a real difference in speed and stability.  Used to be the only way I could do anything online on pre-Starlink QM2 was to be in metered mode, but these days the signal strength and speed is much improved.

  2. The Tasting History channel on YouTube recently did a series on food and drink of the Titanic, and I thought some folks here might find it interesting.  There are 6 videos, one each for first, second, and third class meals, as well as one for the crew, a cocktail episode, and a palate cleanser.  The host makes the dish and tells a few anecdotes about the ship.  I found the first class dish a bit odd; it's strange to think that things floating in gelatin/jelly used to be the height of culinary style.

  3. I've searched high and low, and so far haven't been able to ascertain if it's possible to book pre- or post-voyage packages via the VP. We're thinking about booking a transatlantic crossing using a third party website, which naturally does not include these packages. From searching this forum I gather that the popular choice is to make use of a car service or else go by train, but as it's our first cruise we're a bit nervous and want to take one of the "official" transfers.
