I'm on May 24th. I see you must be on the 11 night Alaska. I see Sapphire is doing a 8 day starting May 2nd.  I'd call them.

Princess originally had an 8 day Alaskan cruise departing on May 2nd.  But in February 2022, they changed it to an 11 day departing on April 29th.  I was booked on the original one and rebooked for the current.

Hopefully it will be completed before May 1st.....we're embarking on April 29th.

I agree.  I'm on the same cruise.  That cruise was originally supposed to begin on May 2nd and only be 7 days.  Then they switched it to what it is now.  At least with it being right out of dry dock, they should have the cabins ready early.

  3. I won't be sailing until April 29, 2023.  Leaving from Vancouver sailing to Alaska.  I will be flying in from New York the day before.  I also will be staying overnight at the airport prior to the flight because of the early flight time and my distance from home to airport.,  Really don't want to get up at 2AM to get 6AM flight.  I am really hoping that the tests required (PCR or Antigen) will no longer be needed by then because of the time frame I have. I am fully vaccinated and 2 boosters.

Another thing I see is that Sapphire Princess is scheduled for dry dock.  Ending on May 1, 2023.  The original cruise we booked began on May 2, but got cancelled and they created the April 29th itinerary instead.  Never sailed on a ship that close before/after a dry dock.  Any comments?? Thank you!

  4. I am currently booked to sail on Sapphire Princess. It was originally an 8 day cruise leaving on May 2nd, 2023 but Princess changed it to an 11 day leaving on the 29th of April.  I see that it's supposed to be in drydock until May 1st.  Should I contact my Princess agent about this?  Please advise.  Thank you.

  5. cruisingator2,

We had an aft suite on NCL and we did see our butler.  However, I will say that our concierge did so much more for us.  She was absolutely wonderful and whenever she saw us, she would ask how things were and if there was anything she could do for us.

I am hoping the staff of YC are just as accommodating.

     Enjoy!

  6. Thank you so much for posting this.  Last cruise we were on the NCL Gem and were in the Penthouse Suites Aft.  The cabin was nice (nothing special) but the amenities you get being in a suite were wonderful.. From the butler, the concierge and all the staff in general.  Having had a taste of the "suite life" we booked MSC Splendida for Sept 2020 back in February of this year.  We loved the itinerary (northern Europe) and couldn't find any other cruise line offering the same.  We will be in Deluxe Yacht Club suites on the 15th deck.  Having read your post - I think we all will enjoy the Yacht Club experience.  Thank you again for posting.

  7. We have eaten at specialty restaurants on RCI and NCL. I can't say I was particularly impressed with either for the cost. We did the Winemaker's Table on Regal Princess and it was fabulous. It was mid cruise, and that was nice for us. We plan to try Carnival's steakhouse on our next cruise since we've seen good reviews (and it's our anniversary cruise), but it will be first night not last.

I don't think the up-charge restaurants are necessary, but if you want to try one I would not chose the last night. The last night I am more focused on packing and getting back to "the real world" - I doubt my mood would be right to allow me to enjoy the full experience so I'd do the splurge on a different evening - maybe next to last night.

We are getting 4 meal upgrades with our suite on NCL. We only have 2 sea days during our 12 day cruise. And wanted to have reservations during those sea days. We will do the other 2 on other days I suppose. Thanks for your input.

  8. Can they, yes.

Will they, probably not. Fire hazard among other things.

Ask your cabin steward, it might happen but do not bet on it.

thank you. They did it for us on Princess 2 years ago. Our cabin stewards simply tied a rope around it to keep it open.

  9. I love the penthouse rooms but they do not include the spa which is a separate charge. I have always had a king size bed in that room with no way to split them into two beds.

Thank you so much for your information. Do you also happen to know if the suites that are side by side can unlock the partitions on the balconies? My sister and her husband have the suite beside me but they are not "connecting suites". On Princess they were able to unlock the partitions for us.

  10. Does anyone know if you are booked in a penthouse suite, do you have access to the spa area or do you have to pay extra. Also, trying to find out if the bed in HA penthouse suite can be broken down to 2 beds. I have 2 yes and 2 no from NCL associates.

  11. I have a question that I can't get the same answer to. I asked 4 different NCL people and answer is split. Maybe someone here can help. I will be sailing in Oct on the Gem in an aft penthouse suite that is handicap accessible. I would like to know if the bed can be split into 2 separate beds. As I stated, 2 NCL reps said yes....and 2 said no.
