  1. Still no help for us, Cruise is Sepember 24th out of Bayonne, NJ..............Guess we just have to wait until August 1st , when those who think those sailings will happen doesn't happen and all the dates of no cruising goes for more months past August 1st.

Even that Lift and Shift won't help us, we have another cruise already set to Alaska, same month September 2021 on another cruiseline.

    Oh well, sit and watch.

We are scheduled for the same cruise out of Bayonne, I’m hoping it happens, but I’m just sitting and waiting to find out.

  2. I booked a cruise for myself and my sister, it was canceled due to corona. I received my voucher this morning but it’s only for my cruise fair, not my sisters even though I paid for her, the email on file was online mine. I have another cruise this fall scheduled with my husband and children I was going to apply both credits to that cruise, as my sister won’t be cruising again for years. Has anyone had only a voucher for 1 person received? Help! [emoji846]

  3. That's why its similar. After 9/11-Anthrax Scare ships sailed with many empty cabins, took almost yr before they filling up again. They were giving cabins away, took 5 Cruises from Sept2001-May2002. At most was 6-10 us Diamonds, this on the newest/largest ships. Even though they wont start back up for few months there is already deals to have. Last 4weeks have scored $3500 in reductions of upcoming Cruises, DBP on my Fall sailings going for $39 per, even the Soda plan being offered at $7.99 per for Fall Cruises, and there is never sale on that. We'll see if CV scare will keep Cruisers away or almost equally important how many the 70+ Dr release requirement effects

I have 3 upcoming cruising September, November and December. So far I was able to upgrade to a balcony and save $670 on my September cruise and also was able to upgrade to a balcony and saved $68 on my November cruise. I keep checking daily, these were all booked about 18 months ago so the prices were already pretty impressive! If they continue to drop I will book a few more lol

  4. We normally cruise 2 times a year but this year had 4 scheduled. Although one is the end of April so we probably won’t be able to go on that one.

I homeschool my kids and we love cruising because I get a break but the kids get to see the world. They are 4 and 6, so some of the European trips we are waiting until they are a bit older and can remember them more.

We will continue to cruise as much as financially possible every year, hopefully no less than 2 per year. We live in the Orlando area so getting to the FL ports is very easy.

  5. Thank you! Great info! Regarding the cake, did you pre order it? Was there a charge? I ask because my son (who hasn't been tested for celiac because we eat GF at home) will turn 3 on day 1 of the cruise and I would love to have a GF birthday cake for him if possible! That would be an awesome way to start the trip for both kids. Any advice on how to make that happen would be appreciated!

They just brought out slices of it with candles in it and sang to us. It was a chocolate flourless cake... so more dense/fudge like type.

They also made a chocolate mouse that my daughter loved and gave it to her one night even though it wasn't on the menu. Each night at least one of the desert options is gluten free (besides ice cream)

  6. We just sailed oasis last month and my 2 year old daughter has celiac disease, and both myself and my 3 year old daughter have major sensitives to it, so our whole family is gluten free.

We always order from the regular menu for our kids vs the "kid menu" because I try to encourage a wide variety of foods and healthy eating as much as possible. So I can't really speak to the kid menu itself but this was our experience:

When we first got on the ship we went to the park cafe for lunch because everyone had raved about the roast beef sandwiches. So we ordered them on gf bread which ended up being individually wrapped udi's bagel and then everything else was ok. They also gave udis cookies for dessert.

Every other meal that was possible we ate in the dining room because the wait staff was amazing and would cook our meals separate to make sure there wasn't cross contamination. They had breads available for each meal. The raisin bread is delicious! For breakfast everyday my girls ate the gluten free pancakes and they honestly were the best gluten free pancakes I've ever had! These were made to order. They ate these with yogurt, fresh fruit and sometimes bacon.

For lunches, they would make any sandwich available on gf bread if I requested. Often I could order from the menu (which is clearly marked for gf items) and even though the items are marked they would still double check everything to make sure she was safe.

For dinner, they would give me the menu for the night ahead so we could pre order our dinners so while they were prepping for dinner our meals were modified as needed to be safe.

We celebrated a birthday and an anniversary while on the ship and for both celebrations they made a gf cake for our table which was so kind!

For the windjammer.... we had to eat there for 1 meal because of being in port and I was a bit concerned because of cross contamination as well not so much that oasis would cross but people ahead of you doing it. Everything is very much on it's own buffet which is helpful, we stuck with rice, black beans and chicken which are usually a pretty safe bet.

This was my first cruise taking my daughters so I was concerned about the food as well, it was such an incredible experience we have already booked another!

Oh also for kids club, they will feed them pizza and such if you leave them there during meal times so we were just sure to take our kids to every meal with us and also sent a small backpack with "safe" snacks for snack time.

  7. I just took my 2 year old (she turned 2 the last day of our cruise) and my 3 year old on their first cruise and it was so wonderful! Both girls absolutely loved it and keep asking when we get to go again (we booked another but haven't told them yet) and it was the first time I've gotten a break since becoming a mom... so I say do it!!

  8. I just booked my first time with the future cruise desk and when I came home I found the cruise online for cheaper even with the onboard incentives... they pushed things through my travel agent (Costco) as i requested but it has been an absolute nightmare trying to get it to the same price that it shows online. Last night I spent 2 hours on the phone and Costco came back saying royal corrected some of the issues but there was still a $27 overage (originally it was $2500 so it came down a lot) that they couldn't figure out why as well as $100 on board credit I wouldn't be receiving.... so I called back again tonight to Costco and this agent understood the price issue still and he just spent an hour with royal Caribbean but they were not able to get it to adjust down, and I will need someone who was already done for the day to do it, so I now have to call back again tomorrow! At this point I think both Costco and royal should up their incentives to me... 3 hours on the phone and it's still not fixed is crazy!

  9. I still have no power and my cell service is spotty... can anyone confirm that oasis is still a go for tomorrow?

We lost our fence and had massive trees go down in our yard but thankfully missed our house. We are safe but have no power.... I'm ready to get on the ship already!!!

  10. So someone asked James van fleet via twitter about the now 9/13 sailing of oasis if we could still get on the boat on 9/12 and he said he would look into it... if it's safe to get on 9/12 I'm all for this... anyone think they would actually allow this?

  11. I'm bummed about oasis change to Wednesday but I sort of anticipated it when I saw the storm slow down... my house is as ready as it can be for Irma and we are now just sitting and waiting. I think RC has been beyond generous with the refunds and future cruise credits they are offering. I pray we get on the boat on Wednesday!!!

  12. what are insurance rates like for homes in FL. i'm assuming not cheap. for instance i know a home that has a rebuild price of 400K would be around 900 to 1000 a year around where i live in PA.many variables to each policy but just wondering if policies in FL are a lot more as i suspect they are.

My house value is approx $475k and my insurance is $2600 approx annually but my hurricane deductible is $22k everything else it's $5k

  13. I am on the north side of Orlando (Apopka/wekiva springs area), I wanted to fill my tank up again this morning just to be safe, the first three gas stations I went to were out of gas but the fourth one had gas, I was able to get gas in and out in under 10 minutes, so gas is getting limited but is still available.
