  1. We were on Apex with two kids (18,  9)  in concierge. Sofa has a trundle bed built-in that you use at night as fourth bed. When the trundle extended the floor space is tight and it takes some careful walking to go to the balcony area. Beds itself are comfortable and wide enough. When you don't need trundle, it is very easy to push it back in.

  2. Celebrity has two classes of ships, the Equinox is of the newer slightly larger class. We haven't sailed her but have been on sister ships Eclipse and Silhouette. Very nice!

There are rumors that this may change, but one attraction of these ships is the Hot Glass Show. Deck 14, near the Lawn Club. Artisanal glass blowers from the Glass Museum in Corning NY are onboard to put on demonstrations. I suspect your daughter will be fascinated! At the end of each show they give away many of the items they have produced, the highest quality pieces are held aside for an auction late in the cruise with funds going to a scholarship fund.

    Enjoy!

    Thank you!

Funny thing is that we live 30 min from Corning. We usually visit museum few times a year, it got very interesting section on fiberglass and glass in space exploring, and in museum they let public to take part in blowing a glass.

  3. Just to clarify: this is not about food restrictions, she just don't like anything on sample menus. On other hand me and husband would like to eat there. On MDR menu is salmon and it is her favorite.

As diabetes concerned we just need to know carb amount in her dish. And make sure she is not hungry.

On a princess line website I seen that you can order from any menu in speciality restaurant and hoped to be able do same here. It is not a deal breaker for me, but it would be great if we could. I guess I'll ask onboard :).

    Thanks everyone.

Another thought : how different real onboard menus from website samples?

  4. In my opinion cocktail or evening dress on a teen looks silly ( and not a good silly, like they older then they are). Same for black slacks. And everyone seen current teens sundresses and skirts , I don't think it will be appropriate ether. I was thinking of dressy/sparkly tunic and leggings.

  5. Thank you everyone!

I called special need line and has been told to ask onboard and they have no info for me over the phone. It is concerns me a lot. I was looking at French and Asian restaurants, my daughter prefer Italian or Irish. I was hopping that she can eat with us and have something that she eat. I'm wasn't thinking of not paying for her. We probably skip on specialty restaurant idea, I really hate to go to another Italian and MDR sims to have diverse chooses. I wish that X was more responsive on a phone :(.

    Thanks for help!

  6. Hello,

I'm picking first cruise and have hard time choosing between RC (Oasis), Celebrity(Equinox) and Carnival(Magic). I plan to go on last week of June. All of them 7 days and spend about same amount of time in ports. We will have our teen child with us. On negative: RC sims to be overcrowded, Carnival cost about 1k less and looks like Home2 branch, and Celebrity attracts older people. On positive: RC has a lot to do, Carnival chip, Celebrity has 2:1 passenger/crew ratio and I like their food option (at least on paper clear.png?emoji-smile-1742 ) I'm leaning forward Celebrity, but I afraid to be too out of place there. I would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

  7. Thanks everyone for info!

I've been counting carbs for 11years and my main concern with estimating amount of ingredients in particular portion. Did anyone asked for this info on board and received answer?

Of topic question : kgm0612, how did you get second pump? Our pump company refuse to provide backup pump.

  8. We have cruised with our T1 DS, excellent memories. We did estimates of carbs and found he could manage well. Even found we were so active that lows were the issue rather than highs. As nutritional guides are now more common I would suggest contacting special needs. DS hated attention being brought to his diabetes so he did not want to involve the waiter/maitre de in planning discussions. Did have a true medication refrigerator in the room as well as a sharps container. Have a great time.

    Thank you for info!

My daughter was diagnosed at early childhood and is very open on people to know about it. Did you brought you own juice to treat lows or it is available on board? Did your son tried children/teen programs, is staff trained to recognize low blood sugar symptoms and help? I'm planning on using Dexcom, but some times it misses lows :(.

    Thank you!

  9. Hello,

I'm considering to go on cruise with my daughter, who is type 1 diabetic. She is on insulin pump and we need to know amount of carbs and protein in everything she eats. Is it possible to obtain nutritional information for prepared dishes on board or we will have to guess it? I would appreciate if anyone can share their experience with similar situation.

I'm thinking of going on Celebrity or Princess line, is this a good idea or is it a better choice to pic different cruise line or land resort instead?

    Thank you,

    Nina
