  1. Booked through a travel agent, and final payment was due January 1. So, I have paid in full. I've already found a YC cabin available, and I started to 'hold it' by starting the online booking process but not actually booking it. I quickly called my agent and she was on the phone with another customer. So, I lost the cabin. Wish there was a work around, but I was told that the travel agent is the only one who can make changes.

  2. I'm seeing posts about people canceling their vacations. We are booked to sail on March 31 on Seaside and have a Aurea balcony room (3 people). Would love to get a YC room. Sooooooooo if anyone is canceling their YC room, please let me know so I can grab it! (I check the website numerous times a day to see if anything has opened up...no luck so far and MSC customer service told me that they do not have a waitlist.)

    THANK YOU!!:*

  3. I've inquired about the food allergy issue as well....nut/peanut allergies for my 11 year old. The only answer I can get is that there is a form to fill out ahead of time and that someone from the staff will meet with you when you are onboard to go over menus.

Kids menu in the MDR seems non-existent. My kid wants everything super plain (noodles and butter, grilled cheese, cheese pizza with plain sauce, etc.)

  4. Not expecting a free upgrade...I'm not that dim/pathetic. I will pay for an upgrade. Just wanted someone to 'watch out' for me to see if a YC cabin or some larger type room came available.

I've been checking online and what I see and what my TA sees are sometimes different. (ex. she saw a room with a hottub...I didn't.)

I wasn't aware that the TA 'owns' the booking. That's good to know.

  5. Looking for a TA to help me with an upgrade. My current TA has not been successful, and frankly, not sure she is actually 'trying'. I know it's Springbreak time, but I also know that people have been cancelling their trips, so room availability changes. I'm booked on Seaside for March 31 in a Aurea balcony room. Traveling with husband and 11 year old daughter. Would like to see if we can get a larger room and/or yacht club. Thank you!!

  6. I think that’s fair... well put.

Especially since none of the other areas are specifically for adults only. There’s so much deck space elsewhere, as much as it may not be as easy to get some deck chairs in other places where minors are allowed as hopefully it will be on Top 19, it is what it is. Do what you gotta do to get your deck chairs, get your unlimited drinks with the Aurea package, and make it work. There are SO many places on the ship designed to entertain kids and teens. Let the adults have their one area!

Casino? Isn't that the adult area?

  7. again, first time cruiser so pardon my ignorance. Please explain the dining room experience to me. Is it where everyone is assigned a seat at a large round table then all fed the same thing? Much like a wedding or a charity dinner?

  8. Ok--just so I understand this correctly as this is my first cruise...

You are expected to come 'ready' for breakfast, lunch and dinner? I can't roll out of bed and go to the breakfast buffet with a baseball cap for my bedhead? For lunch, I can't go in my swimsuit and cover up? Dinner--I understand that it's required to be dressed up.

I just want to make sure I have it all straight. I'm not complaining. :D Just trying to manage expectations for my family.

  9. I'm sure your daughter and her friends would like that, but being realistic, I doubt you'll ever find those things on a cruise ship. Maybe someday in the teen lounges, but you'll have to pay for the internet pkg to get You Tube.

Did you not see the emoji face with the wink and tongue sticking out at the end of my comment about You Tube??? That emoji represents that the comment was a joke. Yes, it was a joke.

I guess I need to not joke on the posts or maybe this is a cultural misunderstanding???!!!

  10. I guess cruising its not for your family at all. No cruise line will do prank videos or Taylor Swift show.

Goldenbonny, you have misunderstood my post. I was simply trying to explain that my child is not too 'refined' in her tastes and unfortunately, we haven't had much luck making her 'change' her likes/dislikes when it comes to food, the arts, etc. She likes basic plain food. She likes pop culture, sports and she likes YouTube Videos that are geared for her age. I am not opposed to exposing her to things of a different culture and the arts, in fact I encourage it and continue to try it. However, if she is miserable/bored on the cruise, that means my husband and I will be miserable.

We take one family vacation a year and I want to make the most of it. I want there to be options for all of us to enjoy. After reading posts sent by the kind people on this board, I am feeling better about Seaside and am going to keep my reservation at this time.

In addition, my daughter and her friends believe it would be a good idea for cruise lines to do prank videos and Taylor Swift Shows. ;p

  11. I agree. Plus my 11 year old daughter plays violin. She's been exposed to all sorts of culture and will sit very well with adults for a 2 hour meal because she's been raised with a give and take attitude. Would she rather play video games and dance? Probably. But it's our vacation too and she knows we take turns doing something for everyone.

That's wonderful and sounds like you've done a great job raising your daughter. My parents failed with raising me because I can't sit through a 2 hour dinner!! LOL!

  12. Opera, classical music, violins, Gala/Formal nights, 2 hour dinners....have I booked the wrong cruise for an 11 year old?? I'm worried. My kid loves Taylor Swift, YouTube prank videos, swimming and eating plain noodles with butter.

  13. What exactly does not sound family friendly in those shows?

Many of the shows I've read about on MSC about been Opera related, which will be painful for my 11 year old, and frankly for my husband.

Looking to see what other options are for an 11 year old. (we can only go bowling so many times!!)
