I hope my response did not cause you to feel this way but if it did, I am most sincerely sorry. Please don’t keep your comments to yourself! I’ve felt that way on here occasionally but as long as we are all polite, vive la difference. How boring would these boards be if post after post read exactly the same.
I am still a little touchy over the riding Captain Serena took over our bad weather. I witnessed very rude and unkind behavior from guests and found myself completely frustrated with the rumor mill.
We had great conversation with her and would never start the rumor mill. Thankful and blessed we can travel the way we do. Again, never from from my first blog putting the Captain down. 💃👍👏❤️🥰

Nope! The answer did not make any sense to us. I am not hiding behind a screen and thanks to this blog that provided us a great idea! Go ask her.

No you are awesome! We are staying away from the rumor mill on the ship and as stated we are huge supporters of Regent, we feel so blessed!

I love that idea! Thank you for it. Again I wasn’t slamming Regent or we wouldn’t be Platinum members and have traveled over 200 days with this cruise line. We have many other opinions as well.
Again, we were disappointed missing two ports as many others. We have traveled a lot and know what we saw and I am not questioning the Captain or putting her down. Miscommunication can happen and it did on this trip about the blinds. It was strange and I like positive feedback and action plan. Love your idea and we will act on it. 🙂
All the best!
In the future, I think I will keep my comments to myself - YIKES!

We have spent 200 days with Regent and have the pleasure to do so! Very happy with Regent. I have to say it has been very strange! We are on Explorer now and missed tendering into two ports Taormina and also Sorrento.
We have been in much rougher seas and have tendered. It was only five foot seas and sunny in Taormina on May 5th. I do trust the captain and the safety of the passengers. However, things are not making sense.
What continues to be more strange we are not in rough seas, she put us in port in Naples and decided to close the drapes on port side in Compass Rose since yesterday. After crusing in the past in 30 foot seas with Regent and the drapes never pulled.. My husband and I said she is a newer captain and doing her best.
However, then we went this morning for breakfast and typically Regent does a nice job when you are in a port dock to position you to a better view. Again we are at dock, not anchored and the weather is not that bad. We questioned why were the blackout blinds and drapes pulled over the port side of the view. They were concerned about bad weather and that is why the blackout pulldowns and drapes were pulled in Compass Rose. We missed out on two really cool stops and now sitting in Naples at a port dock with Compass Rose blinds down on...
We have a stop tmo in Gaeta, Italy and the server said the drapes may be pulled up by Livorno the following day.
Asked the manager like so many right now on Explorer and he can’t explain saying it was the captain decision. He seemed baffled like many others on the ship. Strange. If we haven’t spent 200+ days and being Plantinum members, I would understand others commenting back saying the caption is doing their best. We have traveled around the world with Regent and this is very odd.

Great, thank you for the info!

We are looking forward to going back on Explorer this Spring. The last cruises we have been on Regent have been all male fitness instructors. Have you been Explorer recently and if so any female instructors for yoga etc?
As as much as we cruise we have to workout or we would be huge!
Many thanks!

We sailed from Southampton this summer as well and had a direct flight into Heathrow. We opt to make our own reservations and stayed in Southampton the night prior. We also booked our own driver which was awesome! No bus and reasonably priced. We have been to London multiply times, thus we decided to head directly to port.

We will be on the Mariner on Oct 4th from Montreal to NYC. This is our 3rd Regent cruise, but I don’t know what a Code Red is. Could someone please explain exactly what that means and how it limits your cruise? I read Travelcat’s post that it was a virus, not norovirus but what kind of flu? Thanks, any info will be helpful.
We have traveled almost 200 days on Regent and this has been our first code red, yet actually second...since we have been on Mariner from San Francisco through New York up to Montreal.
From my "new" understanding sadly.. [emoji52] Once we boarded in San Fran they had an issue with flu. Per maritime law it needs to pass 48 hours and then you can let red code go. If you review the prior blog not by myself, check out the numbers as she explained more than I want too.
What changes on the ship (Pain for guests;
However, Regent does an amazing job to try too minimize the issues):
- Any buffet you cannot touch any plates nor tongs they serve you. Sounds very small and I appreciate what they are trying to diminish the spreading. No salt and pepper on the tables. You need to request from our server and they can only do it.
- All public bathroom doors are open and they have signs stating so.
- Viewing staff sanitizing everything,
BIG Yeah!
- No Menus, only paper menus.
Most of and not Regents fault, the last thing you want to think is having an outbreak.
Ready for code Red to be done!

Holy Moly Andy! Our daughter and son in law live in Newport. That was a nice shot of their yacht club!! I can't see their boat but it's out there somewhere. I'll be missing you by a day. I leave for Newport in the am.....girls weekend!
Beautiful town! Kudos to your family. I imagine if possible they were hopefully out today as it was a beautiful sunny day! [emoji137][emoji12][emoji136]

Golffan, thank you so much for continuing your reports on the Mariner. I've read every one and enjoyed your photos as well. As a "New Yorker", we've passed the Statue of Liberty many times on our way out of NY harbor. Still gives me chills!! We'll be on the Mariner as well as the rest of the gang in November. Her "make up" may be a little smeared, but she's still a lovely lady!
Wow, it was so meaningful! I can see what you can still say as a "New Yorker" that it still gives you chills. It moved me more than words can express. Proud to be an American and our great country!

Compass Rose has also been hit and miss for us. The servers are doing a terrific job; however, the food has been questionable.

Your food pictures are wonderful. We tend to take lots of food pictures as we definitely enjoy our food. While those of us in the Pacific Northwest get amazing Dungeness crab, halibut and salmon, the East Coast gets the yummy clam chowder, lobsters, etc. Keep the pictures coming!
Oh, I do have one question. Has the food in La Veranda been warm enough? We had an issue with that earlier this month (along with lukewarm side dishes in Compass Rose). Hoping that this has been remedied.
Will do! Sadly, the food in La Veranda hasn't been up to par and cool at times. Since we are still on code red right now they are serving everyone when you go up to the buffet; which, slows things down even more. We have had hit and misses from ordering eggs in the morning that were delivered to our table absolutely cooked perfectly to other times way over cooked or not. Inconsistent.
We are going to Sette Mari tonight.

The leaves haven't changed yet; however, we viewed a few trees with some golden leaves. We are happy, again beautiful sunny day!

SGolffan, thanks for your continuing reports from the Mariner. Pictures are great.
Thanks!

Also!!! Something we learned...we had fog very early in the wee hours and maritime law requires to blow a horn every two minutes. Needless to say I have been awake since 3:30 AM.

Disappointed.. 200+ days on Regent. Weird on Explorer

Totally agree. We spoke to the General Manager and there was a communication problem on the ship. And Please!!! Nothing against our Captain.
