Ok, you are in port a for a nice time. 😀

Tortola is a beautiful island to tour, and drivers at the dock will be offering island tours on the share safari taxis at reasonable prices, ~$25/pp for a 3 or 4- hour tour. Some of these include a beach stop, or you can get off at a beach like CGB or Brewers Bay and take another taxi back to the port later.

You do not need to reserve ahead for these shared tours...you can get help or directions from the friendly ladies at the information center.

Alternatively, Arnold offers private, more personalized tours at prices that are similar to private taxi hourly rates. If interested be sure to check his availability early as he is very popular -

This would be our choice if we were showing friends Tortola for the first time...

Thank again.  I just spoke with him, he was available. GREAT!!!  I told him what im looking for and he is very accommodating. I appreciate your help. :classic_biggrin:

  2. we are going in Nov.  6pm to midnight NCL ENCORE - San Juan - This port of call is the most difficult as we get there at 6pm and leave at midnight. I heard about the Bioluminescent Bay, but my fear is going out so late at night. Has anyone did this tour, if so with what company. or Is there anything else that can be done in San Juan this late at night. I would rather go with a company vs going on my own that late at night with teenagers. Like someone said, the ship took the excursion off their site. and the companies I have ran into only pick up at hotel sites.

Can someone recommend a company they have used for this excursion?  Or I'm willing to do a land excursions as well.

This is the Tortola forum, please provide your port times in Tortola?

You will want to post questions specific to SJU and STT in those forums. We stay on St Thomas after staying on Tortola so I can help with ideas there, just need your port times there as well.

    8am to 5pm

I read about Pusser's landing and Cane Garden but i'm looking for a land excursion. Most I have came across are Boat charters. are there any companies that can do a land tour to difference places in the island. maybe even go to the highest point of the island for a good picture view.

If asking about Tortola, there are a variety of excursion options to take and you can learn about these very quickly just by reading some of the recent threads just below yours. If you can provide your port date and arrival & departure times you can get suggestions that work for you. If you just want a beach with jet ski rentals just taxi to a cane Garden Bay. But I would suggest doing that in another port as Tortola offers so much more...

  5. We are going on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, i am having a hard time trying to find activities and or Tour Companies to do these with 2 teenagers (age 16).  Does anyone have any tour companies they have used or any activities that are interesting to do, Jet Ski, etc?

Also We land in Puerto Rico at night, What is there to do at night when the boat arrives 6 to midnight?

  6. I didn't spend a ton of time on the balcony, but I don't remember the wind being an issue. For me it was the Sun. This past cruise in August we were in 18102. Depending on the time of day the Sun will be directly on the lounge chairs. I fell asleep without sunblock and woke up with a red nose!! Also, there is a smaller balcony that can be accessed from the master bedroom. That balcony has two chairs and a table. It's pretty well protected from the elements.

    Ah Man :o...

Speaking of sun, does the Haven come with cabanas on the private island?

  7. If you can swing it definitely go with the Deluxe Owners Suite. I cruise with my mother, sister, and my adult daughter. We've stayed in the 2BR suite twice and the DOS twice. The 2BR is ok with 4, but you'll feel crowded with 6. Tell them you're not paying extra for the room space, you're paying extra for your sanity!! I'd be pulling my hair out with 6 in the 2BR. The DOS is perfect for 6 adults. It has two full bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a powder room. Yes, someone will be sleeping in the living room with both suites, but the DOS has one hell of a living room!! You'll be glad you have that extra space, especially if you plan on having meals in the suite. There's plenty of storage for 6 in the DOS. Not so much in the 2BR. Plenty of space to move around comfortably. There's nothing like walking into your small apartment to relax after a long day. You won't regret it!!

Thanks this was my thought exactly. I dont like being crowded. and i would rather have too much space than not enough space. and I was thinking exactly that, the storage space for 6 adults luggages. plenty of area closet to store luggage and clothing that would also take up the space. i think at the end of the day it would be worth it. and we are bring a cousin of ours who's a firat time cruiser. I dont want her to have a bad experience.

Question: Are you able to sit on the balcony while ship is in motion, even though it's in front of ship, concern about it being too windy?

  8. I have been back and forth with my family on deciding to go in the Deluxe Owner suite or 2 bedroom Haven on Escape. We are 5 adults and 1 teenager (age 14). so we r close to 6 adults. I want the Deluxe owner suite so everyone can be comfortable with the extra space and not be on top of each other, but others fill, it's a waste of money, being the seating and sleeping count doesnt change, that all we are paying for is the room space.

Would u recommend the OS or 2-bedroom with the amount of Adults going in 1 room?
