We are in a B9 Spa Balcony on NCL Getaway and we received the upgrade message at precisely 80 days. We have 2 rooms booked with 3 pax each. Minimum bids (per person for 2) were:
1. H2 - Deluxe Owners Suite: $1,500
2. H3 - Owners Suite: $1,500
3. H4 - 2 Bedroom: $1,000
4. H6 - Aft Penthouse: $750
5. H7 - Forward facing penthouse: $400
6. Spa Minisuite: $50
I originally placed a bid on both rooms, but have since cancelled because I would only be interested in upgrading to the Haven, but only if BOTH rooms were upgraded which is not guaranteed. I also wanted the 2 bedrooms because we need the extra beds and I think the $2K price is way too steep for a minimum bid. We only paid $3,100 per room including tips and since we booked on black friday we got free drinks, 3 upgraded meals, wifi, and $50 credit per excursion. We would lose spa access which would cost over $1K for the 4 adults traveling. I got so excited to try to bid to upgrade the room until I realized it was ridiculous to pay so much - we could go on another cruise for the cost of upgrading to the Haven.
But is it worth upgrading to the spa minisuite? It sounds like the only difference is a slightly bigger bathroom and better shower. I'm not sure that is really worth $100.
Also, has anyone had any luck addressing bidding issues by calling the upgrade number, or does that get you nowhere? (I saw an earlier post that someone asked if they would take less and ultimately NCL did reduce the upgrade cost, but that was many months ago when NCL was still transitioning to the new system).
We are sailing on the Breakaway Sept 23 and upgraded from a spa balcony to a spa minisuite. I thought since we are 3 adults in the cabin the bigger bathroom plus moving from a very forward cabin to midship near the stairs was worth the cost increase. It was less expensive than paying for this when we booked.

Where can you check on the status of your upgrade bid? Some people have mentioned that they see “pending” but where is that?
-
This is great news! I hope all of those people who were previously unable to bid because they were already booked in spa rooms see this and get their bids in!
I am in a spa balcony on 9-23 Breakaway and have not received offer to bid.

Can you purchase thermal suite passes before you board the ship if you are not in a spa cabin of some kind?
Yes, you can. It is cheaper to buy it prior to boarding

They did Haven upsells today.
What dio you mean by Haven upsells? We are also on your cruise

Thank you for the great review. We are going sept 23 and can’t wait.

We are in a spa cabin and were given the opportunity to upgrade for one week but it was then rescinded. I had not yet placed a bid. I called NCL and was told it was a technical issue. It has still not been resolved. From the discussion above it makes sense to me now that upgrade offers are not being given to those with spa cabins.

I asked about the same issue several weeks ago on this site. I received an email and a “let’s get you upgraded” on my ncl page 80 days before sailing. It was removed a week later. I called NCL and was told it was a computer glitch and would be fixed. Nothing has changed after 2 weeks.

Did you pay $400 more per person above your previous cabin or $400 in addition to the cost of what the upgrade would be?

Trimone- Thanks for the review. I think we will keep our spa cabin then.

When is your sailing? It could be that bids have already been processed so they are no longer taking new ones.
Our sailing is sept 23.

Has this happened to anyone? On July 5 I received an email stating I was eligible for the upgrade advantage program. I was able to view the cabins I could bid on as late as this afternoon. This evening the message about starting the upgrade package that was displayed on my log in page is no longer there. When I opened my email it said I wasn’t eligible for an upgrade bid????? What happened????

Lost spa privileges, but didn’t pay anymore in DSC.
I originally booked spa balcony because I thought it would be a cool cruise, it was sunny and hot
Trimone, Were you happy with your H5 cabin and experience? We are currently booked in a spa balcony for the sept 23 baltic cruise. Since the cruise is so heavily port intensive I thought that we wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the Haven experience and would enjoy the spa more. I am not sure if I can justify the added cost of the cabin. What are your thoughts?

Our winning bid was £405 each from spa balcony to H5 Haven on Breakaway Baltic cruise.
Did you lose your spa privileges when you moved from spa balcony to H5 haven?

We are currently booked in a spa balcony. If we bid on a haven cabin and accepted will we still receive spa privileges?
What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

We just received an upgrade on the Getaway, 4/27 . $200 pp from minisuite to spa minisuite. This saved us $79 pp for the spa pass which we were going to buy anyway.
