Hi Cassandra, I can't view the schedule downloads. Is there a way to send it to me? I can enter my email in the profile and then delete it after you write it down. Thank you- Lynn

  3. My wife and I have done the round trip out of Los Angeles twice. We enjoyed it a lot. It's a nice mix of relaxing sea days, coupled with a sampling of the four main Hawaiian Islands. Princess has a very good Hawaiian cultural program during sea days. There will be hula lessons, ukulele classes, Hawaiian music, etc. The cruises out of LA usually have the husband and wife team Elua onboard. They are wonderful musicians and excellent ambassadors for Hawaii. If you're interested, I have the photos I took on both sailings below in my signature, along with the daily "Patters", which will give you an idea what to expect onboard.

Hi Jasperdo, I looked at your pics of your Hawaii cruise on the Star. They are great! Can you tell me if you took ship excursions and which ones? I would like to know what days were the formal nights? I'm taking the Ruby out of LA to Hawaii in April 2019 and I'm so excited! I'm thinking about taking my ukulele with me so I can participate in the lessons. Do they have several onboard or should I go ahead and bring mine? I'm looking forward to the sea days and the activities!

    Thank you so much!

  4. A flight to LAX?? With respect.. [emoji4], the check in to SAN, the wait, that 21-min segment, the baggage claim and the drive on I405 to lovely romantic San Pedro is worth it? [emoji848]

UBER would be appx $155, and far far quicker with personalized door-to-door! Time has a value!

Yes, it is a crazy amount to pay for a 20 minute flight! But I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with a long Uber ride with a stranger! Still lots of time and options to consider. :)

  5. The 3 for Free is my favorite promo. I'm on the Princess site nearly everyday to compare cruise and flight changes. My flight fron San Diego to LA doesn't change much. Right now my Hawaii cruise is more than $200 more than I paid for with the current promo. I got the $300 OBC and I come out better than the free gratuities current promo. But when 3/Free comes out, I'll ckeck that out and compare all the final figures.

  6. Hi Rabbit, How do you find the huge discounts on the long cruises? Was it on a cruise you already had booked? Or do you have to just keep looking at cruises? I'm retired now so length of time is not an issue.

  7. FYI, we're booked on the Royal Alaska cruise Sept. of '19, should be in San Pedro at end of Sept. '19.

That will be so nice! It's hard to have such a long wait! My Hawaii cruise is April 2019 and seems like forever!

  8. I thought I read that the Royal was to be in LA by Spring of 2019, not end of 2019? Where did you see that it was end of 2019?

Yeah we want a certain type of cabin too which is why we like to book early and then wait for that fab 3 for free deal!

I think you're right. It is spring. I also love the 3 for Free!

  9. From what I can find so far is the Royal comes to the west coast the end of 2019. Hopefully we get another good one with her for 2020. Schedules should be out April 20 from what we're hearing on here. Sure hope so because I'm excited to get a good cabin I want early! Then I'll wait for the promo I want.

  10. We live right off the 67 by Bradley and Prospect. Gilespie field is right across from us..if only we could fly out of there for our cruises...lol. We are looking to MR in fall of 2019...and in Juneish we are hoping to do Alaska with the land tour first. Who knew there were so many cruisers near us!!

Hi Cassandra! I know right where you live. I lived in El Cajon and Santee many years ago. I'm sure the area has changed since 1977! It's built up quite a lot! If you look for a Princess MR cruise in the fall 2020 maybe we'll be on the same cruise!

  11. Hi Lynn...good 2 see a fellow San Diegan and a cruise lover 2...mind if I ask where abouts...we are in the El Cajon/Santee area.

Well prices will probably be higher in the beginning and will drop...has happened for us on other itineraries. Right now for this October to MR is running about 829pp for interior..i think it was the ruby.

Hi Cassandra! I'm in Chula Vista. Actually the east side of I805 between Southwestern College and Costco on H street. In Rancho Del Rey. We're pretty close!

I'm on the Ruby April 8-23, 2019 15 day Hawaii. I'm so excited about that! I'm waiting for the 2020 Princess schedules to come out. I'll probably do the Mexican Riviera in the fall 2020. Looks like the Royal is doing that route. Ruby goes to Australia and Crown in going to Europe. I really like those 2 ships. I hope the pricing on the Royal won't be outrageous since she is so new. After Hawaii I'll have to scale back a little! Cruising solo is expensive! But I am pretty sure I'll be staying with Princess. I like their ships and the service.

    Hi Bob!!

  12. I'm looking for Mexican Riviera for fall 2019! Possibly hoping for the Royal but taking any ship out of LA....

Hi Cassandra, I'm also waiting for the Mex Riv out of LA. I also live in San Diego.

I think it will be the Royal. Hope the prices aren't too much higher since it's such a new ship.

  13. Brand new ship - Panorama - will be on the West Coast starting December 2019. Currently only Mexcio itineraries listed.

WOW! Thank you! I'll check it out. Not sure it can beat my love for Princess!

My favorite Ruby and Crown are going to Australia and Europe so I'm thinking of other options.

You wrote a great review and it is exactly what my daughter and I experienced last year on the Inspiration. Still prefer Princess but I will look at the Panorama. I like to compare whats out there. Thank you.

  14. I have cruised on the Miracle and the Splendor :) going back on the Splendor Sept. 8th 2018 :) Solo cruise .............https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DZaBLleVoAANCzP.jpg:large

GTV I have a few questions for you. My favorite ships are the Ruby and Crown Princess. It looks like the Crown is going to Europe for 2020 and the Ruby to Australia. The Star and the Emerald have needed refurbishing and I don't know what their status is or where they will be. It sounds like the Royal or the Regal will be on the west coast for the Mexico cruises but the schedules for 2020 aren't out yet. Those Royal and Regal may be more expensive since they are so new. Since I live in San Diego I've thought about trying HAL. Have the Oosterdam and Eurodam been updated in all their cabins to the new light neutral beige colors? How would you compare the 2 for experience? Since you also live in San Diego have you sailed either one out of here?

  15. In 2011 I was getting my divorce and staying with my daughter. I told her I was going to the grocery store and I'd be back in awhile. I went to a travel agency and walked in. The lady asked how she could help me. I replied- I want to take a cruise! 3 hours later I returned home and my daughter asked what took so long. I told her I went to AAA. She asked why and I said- I'm going on a cruise! In shock, her eyes bugged out and her jaw dropped. She said-you're doing what?? I repeated- I'm going on a cruise! She asked- and who are you going with?? I said- myself! She barely could speak to me for about 2 weeks! I was so excited but after the shock of her mother going on a Caribbean cruise, going out of the country, alone, she took interest in everything I was looking at on my laptop. Now, she just asks me if I have a cruise booked anytime soon! I keep changing plans all the time. I definitely discovered my independence! It was a huge thrill that first day and as I counted down the days, I was beyond ecstatic when I stepped onboard for my first cruise!! That was 7 years ago. I go at least once a year and that walk through the entry walkway, that first step onto the deck, and that feel of being onboard never changes after all these years. I have that proud and sassy smile on my face and I whisper to myself- I'm here!

I have since moved on with confidence and book my cruises, transfers, and air directly with the cruiseline. That first agent has since retired but we became great friends and she calls me her "cruising diva"! I smile and tell her- it's all her fault and I love it! Happy cruising everyone! -Lynn
