  1. Hi KPRH921,

Rhodes in an amazing and beautiful island, in my opinion it would be a shame to spend all day on a beach. Think about doing a walking tour of Rhodes town, maybe hire a guide as there is so much history in the city. The ships dock just a few steps from Rhodes town, so if you get too hot and tired you can easily nip back to your ship.

My issue with booking a tour is that they hardly give you any time in Rhodes. Maybe we will just walk the town on our own. Any particular places we should check out?

  2. We sailed on the Spirit in April of 2016 and had an absolutely wonderful couples massage in the spa.

(They end it by putting your hands together and ringing a little bell. When they did that this past April at the end of our massage on the Jade, we laughed remembering it from the last time.)

Did they close the spa since we were on the Spirit in 2016? I've been looking at Mediterranean cruises on the Spirit for next year but will look at a different ship if they no longer have a spa. :(

There is a spa. I get emails about it daily from NCL and you can go on their site and see all the services they offer. :)

  3. I sailed on her in April. I was a bit bored and probably wouldn't sail on her without a balcony. However, she is in excellent condition from what I saw and experienced. Everything was very clean.

Raffles Terrace is particularly good if you want to sit and eat/drink while looking out over the sea or port. The Galaxy of the Stars lounge is equally good in the evening, and seems to have inspired the Bliss Observation lounge.

There's no spa, if that's important to you.

Your itinerary is fantastic, and should be more than enough to distract you from any flaws - but I don't think you'll find anything major!

There definitely is a spa because I've been getting emails about it and when you go on the NCL site it has the spa as an option and all the services it offers.

  4. We've sailed twice last time was Dec 2015 in an aft suite. Probably our favorite ship despite being oldest in the fleet. Find it easy to get around and is beautiful. Rooms are dated especially non-suites. Only had vibration (quite bad) when doing over 20 knots which wasn't much.

Where aft is your room - what floor?

Wouldn't hesitate to sail her again except she is in Europe and moving seasonally to China.

She is getting a aft to stern refurb before then but that doesn't help you. The last drydock not much was done.

We are all the way at the end of the hall on the 10th deck.

  5. Hi!

We are sailing this same cruise for our 10 year anniversary too next month! Congrats on your anniversary by the way! :)

We planned excursions in every port except Rhodes and Crete. I think in Rhodes we are going to head to Elli Beach - apparently it's not far from the ship dock and supposed to be nice.

What did you do in Rhodes and Crete? Any suggestions for us? I agree, the time in Crete is minimal so I'm wondering if we should even bother getting off the ship or just make it a spa day! LOL

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  6. Heartfelt - This is the cabin we will be staying in as well! I was wondering the same thing. I've seen some not so recent pics and videos and it does look to be considerably larger than a regular balcony room. The balcony looks to be almost the length of 2 balconies. The set up is a little odd inside though. Everything seems to crammed into a corner.

  7. We've sailed on POM, Jade (multiple times), Dawn, Escape, Spirit and Epic, with Star to come in November.

Of these we will not sail Epic or Spirit again as neither ship was a happy cruise for us.

In our experience Spirit suffered from vibration, indifferent senior staff, unhelpful guest relations and distinctly average food even in the speciality restaurants, also an awkward back to front layout.

    When did you sail Spirit?

  8. Hi we have cruised on Spirit four times and have another cruise booked for December.

Its one of our favourite Norwegian ships for a number of reasons. Firstly its a friendly ship, it feels good and there is always a great ambience. Secondly, its a manageable size, easy to navigate around and with all the facilities you might need to enjoy a port intensive cruise. It feels at times as if you are on a giant private yacht. The food offering is good with some fabulous restaurants as well as two welcoming dining rooms. We like the aft bar with its open decks and what a place to have breakfast if you use the buffet.

We have not had an issue with cleanliness, either in our stateroom or the public areas. Our stateroom attendants have always been helpful and good at their job.

Yes its an older vessel and no it does not have the 'up to date' facilities you would find on more recent builds or larger ships. It has had minor refurbishments in the last few years. I also accept that others may have had some issues but we haven't and continue to enjoy our time onboard.

The various itineraries around the Mediterranean and Canaries have been superb.

    Thanks for the insight!! :)

  9. Hi Keith!

I noticed in another person's post that you said you stayed in cabin 10686. This is the cabin we will be staying in on our cruise in a few weeks. We are first time cruisers as well and really looking forward to our trip.

I'm just slightly concerned with some of the reviews I've read recently regarding the ships condition. How did you find the cabin? Clean? Bathrooms in particular.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! :):)

  10. I'm staying in this room in August!! We booked it too because of it's size. Looks like your pics and the pics and videos found online are pretty much the same Keith. Was it CLEAN? In particular the bathroom? I've been seeing a lot of photos of the bathrooms on this particular ship and they are gross with mildew in the tiles and such.

  11. Hi All!

My husband and I booked our first ever cruise on the Spirit in 48 days!! We are super excited since this will be our first vacation alone together in 8 years! We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary.

I picked this cruise primarily on the itinerary of the Greek Isles and Italy, but to be honest, I'm starting to get nervous with the less than stellar reviews I'm reading about the ships condition.

We are staying in an Aft balcony cabin - its supposed to be a larger than normal cabin. I very recently found a video walk through of the cabin from 2013 and let's just say.. I'm REALLY hoping the ship has had some sort of refurb since then. When we booked this ship we were told it was going to be dry docked and refurbished this past Jan, but from the posts I've been ready that hasn't happend.

Has anyone sailed the Spirit recently that can give me some insight? I don't mind an older decor, I just need it to be CLEAN.

    Thanks!!!

  12. Just off spirit Oct 1....public areas all look good....furnishings in rooms haven't been changed but soft goods seem to have been....beds were great with comfy pillows...any questions?

    Thanks!

    Couple questions actually!

    - How was the vibe on the ship? Old, young? Couples? Families?

    - How was the food and what was the best place to eat in your opinion?

-Where did you cruise to? We are doing the 10 Day Eastern Mediterranean cruise so any feedback on that would be helpful too.

    thanks!!!

  13. Let's make sure you are talking true aft. True aft cabins are located on the very back of the ship, facing the wake. On the Spirit, the only deck with truly aft cabins is deck 9 and these are all suites. "Last room at the back of the ship" leads me to believe you might be talking about the last cabin at the end of the hall going to the aft. If that is the case, you would actually be on either starboard or port side. Doesn't necessarily change the advice though. Just make sure you're aware of what is above and below you. You say 'nothing' is above you and I'm not sure that is correct. Literally every deck on the Spirit has something above it. I truly am not trying to discount your post rather make sure all giving advice know exactly how the Spirit is laid out.

Yes, the cabin is the last cabin at the end of the hallway, however it is at the very back of the ship right near the Kids Pool (which doesn't bother us as we don't expect many kids on this particular cruise and don't plan on being in our room during the day a lot). The deck below us are cabins and right above us are table tennis games - which I don't see making a tremendous amount of noise especially at night.

  14. Hello All!

I am new to cruising and am VERY excited to go on my first cruise in Sept on the Norweigan Spirit.

Currently, my agent is holding an AFT room for us that is the last room at the back of the ship. Has anyone had any issues with these rooms? Are they noisier than mid ship rooms? More motion?

Any input would be a great help!!

    TIA!
