  1. We have stayed in Webster and  League City, and for our next cruise we're staying in Seabrook.  We've also stayed on the island - it just depends on cost and how much time we have before the cruise.  It's usually a lot less expensive to stay off the island, and it's still close enough for lyft, uber, or use a transportation service.  Sometimes we do a one-way car rental from IAH to League City (Hertz) or La Marque (Budget) so we have a car to go shopping, visit NASA, get dinner, and then get a lyft from the car rental drop off to the port to next morning.  Enterprise does have a location in Galveston, but they always seem to have a $100 one way drop fee.

  2. We've used Bodden's Best of Roatan private tours twice since January.  We loved ziplining and the sloth monkey experience.  We had Denry as our guide both times (we requested him the second time) and he found fun, different places for lunch on each tour.  My brother's family also did the Best of Roatan last week.  They loved the monkey and sloths, glass bottom boat and iguanas.  Their guide was George and they were very pleased.

  3. We had a fantastic experience with Roberto Whitaker of Robtad's Tours on April 2, 2023!!!  Highly recommend!!!  He had several (a huge amount) of tours to choose from.  We chose Agua Clara Locks and Fort San Lorenzo.  It was a four hour tour and the price was $200 for four people - there is per person pricing after the first four people, so you can save a bit of money by getting a group together.  Roberto had a sign with our names as we exited the port area, and took us to the air conditioned van. He was a wealth of information about Panama history and the locks.  He also had cold water and soda for us!  We really enjoyed our tour - all his tours are customizable to what you want.  We felt very safe, and wouldn't hesitate to book with him again!

  4. Hello!  I was wondering if anyone has recently reached out to Mr. Whitaker.  I e-mailed the above address last week and have not heard back.  He sounds like exactly what we are looking for.  I always prefer independent tours and have not really been able to find any for our stop in Colon.  We will be there on the Radiance of the Seas on April 2nd.  We may end up staying on the ship, but we are traveling with my aunt and uncle who have never been to Panama, so I would like to arrange something (my husband and I have been to Panama a long time ago when he was stationed there briefly in the Air Force and a few years ago on a cruise - we did a ships tour that was packed with people.)

Thank you for any suggestions or advice!

  5. Our family had a fantastic time with Mark on a tour to the Blue Hole near Ocho Rios.  Mark was was easy to book with, and we had clear communications.  We had no problems following his directions to find him at the port in Ocho Rios.  We always prefer private tours to ship tours and this was no exception.  At the Blue Hole we had our own guide and were able to explore without having to stay with a large group.  After the Blue Hole, Mark took us to shopping to find some sunglasses and coffee.  Highly recommend!
