1. Hello fellow cruise lovers,

I am in the organizing stages of a group cruise for co workers, friends and family.

While I have been on the Summit 2 years ago (and loved it), I've been to Bermuda enough times to safely say they will love Celebrity and Bermuda.

What information can anyone give me for making sure everyone is happy.

What kind of special events did you create (if you did).

I'm thinking about a Cocktail Party for one of the sea days.

I'd appreciate any/all information you can share.

    Thank you!!

  2. Every time we go to Bermuda I always have a problem using my cell phone. I always call ahead and switch plan to international, they give me instructions as to what to do and can never call home etc...

    WHAT am I doing wrong???

It's verizon cell service that I have.

    HELP!!!

    lol

    Thanks,

    Carrie

  3. Thanks so much,

I actually just called celebrity this morning. They emailed me a request form. It's nothing crazy. As long as I have one or two staples I need to have I will make the rest without problem knowing what I can have is easier than what I cannot have.

Do you need to request certain foods that aren't usually on the menu? That might be difficult. If you need to avoid certain foods, they can usually accommodate you pretty easily. You can contact the Special Needs department, but you'll want to consult with the Maitre D once you are on board, and keep your servers informed as you go along.

If you want to eat gluten free, or lactose free, or vegetarian, or low salt, or vegan, or whatever, do a search of Cruise Critic and you will find hundreds of posts about how Celebrity handles their special needs requests.

  4. First time trying Celebrity and the Summmit.

On embarkation day what/where are your choices for lunch?

I have to put in a call to Celebrity, how are they with special requests for certain foods? (health issue)

4 weeks from today is sailaway.... this is one cruise that I really need :0)

    Cannot wait to getaway.

Please start my excitement level and fill me in on this ship.

    Thanks so much,

    Carrie

  5. Thanks so much for taking all the time you did with your review, I enjoyed reading so much. Your pictures also fantastic, you are so photogenic :0)

We're heading on the Summit in June. First time on celebrity and excited to try something new. We've been to Bermuda many times, but never with any of the recent warnings that have been posted about the raw sewage dumping etc... Did you get any notifications onboard, or see any posted at the beaches?

This will be the first time going that we won't be taking that dip in the ocean.

If you did comment on this and I missed it somewhere I apologize in advance.

    GREAT REVIEW!!!

    Carrie

  6. It was somewhere either in this thread OR on the main pages under the celebrity board.

I read thru it all today as we just booked the Summit.

Been to Bermuda many times, this upset me.

Where did you read the north shore has had greaseball? I've only read about the south shore this year so far.
  7. Thank you!

It's really not an issue, I'll call celebrity. If no, he can buy it onboard.

You may bring 2 bottles of vino per cabin.....I don't want to give you

the wrong information about The O'Doul's........maybe someone can

    give you the correct answer.

  8. Thanks so much !

What else are you allowed to bring on board with you? I know some people like to carry on their wines, this is NOT the case with us lol

My fiance drinks only Odools non alcoholic beer. Can you bring a 6 pack on or is that against rules?

Hi:) I will take some of your questions...I have sailed Summit 6

times...she is one of my favorite ships:)

Yes, upstairs all the way AFT, outside of the buffet are tables, chairs,

umbrellas and a bar. You can sit outside and eat and drink;)

    I love that bar:D

Yes, you can bring bottled water.

As for your diet and what you can eat? You might want to speak with

the Maitr'd about things.......I can eat anything but I do know folks

who are allergic to certain food, diabetic, etc...etc.....etc...and

normally, they can get assistance for foods.

As for good choices? Well, on the main menu in the dining room they

have standard items every night on the left side with the varying

    items on the right side....

You can get salmon, chicken, steak every night........not sure about

whole grains in everything.......but yes, they should be able to help

    you with planning your meals.

Hope you have a great cruise:)

  9. If you were interested in switching hotels you can stay at the Hyatt or Westin in downtown jersey city nj which will be a quick 15 minute drive to the Bayonne cruise port.

You can take the path train or ferry over to NYC to do all the tourist things. The Hyatt JC is on the hudson and you have the beautiful views of Manhattan directly across.

    Just another idea for you.

I'm sure the hotels have transportation to the pier also.

  10. Just booked a celebrity cruise for june to Bermuda, our favorite island!

What the heck is going on with this raw sewage problem?

The south shore beaches are the most popular ones, and the north shore has grease balls. If you plan on swimming your advised to get a hepatitis a plus another vaccine.

Will monitor these boards closely now. Such a shame.

  11. Hello all,

It's been a while since I've been on CC.

Going on the Summit for the first time ever on Celebrity in June.

Would love to start getting excited about the ship. Got a fantastic rate for an inside cabin. We love our balcony, but this rate was not to be missed.

Been to Bermuda many times. Really want to hear about the Summit.

What not to miss etc..We love the open backs of ships, are their areas with tables to sit and enjoy the wake views? Buffet out back at all?

Questions about food for me.... I have a health issue that requires my food choices to be limited.. Do they offer a good choice of seafood, chicken, fresh veggies, any whole grain products, any dairy free items at all. I have to have all my food plain which I know they will accomodate.

    Looking forward to your replies.

    Thanks so much,

    Carrie

  12. This is good to know, thanks. We have brought water on carnival, NCL and Holland without incident. Will be doing the same for explorer.
just wanted to confirm that we each took a full case of 30 bottles of water on board... taped the packaging better and put on a luggage tag... NO PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS.... DELIVERED TO OUR CABINS WITH THE LUGGAGE...
13. We are on the same sailing. In Bermuda there is so much you can do on your own. Unless you plan on sunset cruises , scuba tours etc... than you can make reservations on the RCCL site when you log in to do your online check in. All shore excursions are listed there.

We cruise to Bermuda every fall and have never done anything thru an excursion, just on our own. Bermuda is so easy to navigate with their transportation system. It's a very safe, clean island with the friendliest locals. So different than the Caribbean.

Do you have any specific questions ?

Hope this helps a bit . Let me know.

    Carrie

We will be on EOS at the end of September with about 30 people in our group. This is my first cruise, and I'm wondering when/how I can make plans/reservations/excursion requests before we board.

    Thanks!

  14. We're sailing on EOS in September to Bermuda, while we cruise each year to Bermuda this will be the first (DH) on EOS.

I always bring a case of water on carnival or ncl and it is allowed. I check it with my luggage. Can the same be done on EOS ?

I know I sound boring but that's pretty much all I drink. No soda, no iced teac etc.. Can we bring non alcoholic beer onboard ? Holland America is great with that.

We got a GREAT rate for this sailing and we'll be in an inside (so used to balconies) but hey ! I was impressed that RCCL price was lower than NCL to Bermuda. Competition . Works for us . I'm also thrilled RCCL decided to do the 7 night runs to BDA.

I always wanted my DH to see the differrence on a BIG ship and now he will.

I sailed EOS out of Miami about 8 years back and am looking forward to coming back and seeing whats changed. I honestly can't remember much from when I sailed her last.

This is a great thread , glad I found it.

  15. This will be our 6th sailing NYC to Bermuda of which 5 of them have been in october . We lucked out each and every time and PRAY we do this october as well.

Our experience has been that when you wake up the morning after sail away it's warm enough to lay out and use the pools on the ship. We've never had a problem. The beach weather in bermuda has also been perfect.

When you sail the end of october depending on NYC weather you will use the pool coming back from Bermuda and possibly the next morning.

All but one time we've had great/smooth seas. ONCE we hit a storm going and it was bad. 26 ft. seas for the first 30 hours. It happened only once as I've said and it doesn't deter us from going again and again and again !!!

I don't get sea sick (thank God ~ but my guy can get queezy). We bring the dramamine along w/ wrist bands.

Bands go on (him) as soon as we set foot on ship. If it's smooth he takes them off.

Only that one time I even put them on and he used that with pills and was fine.

Bermuda is magnificant. Thats why we keep going back for more , can't get enough !

    Have a wonderful cruise !

  16. Loved reading your review of Sapphire beach only to finish it off with amazing photos, thank you !

What did they charge you for the beach , chair rentals etc... ?

Looks like Sapphire will be our choice . I have been to coki a few years back. My son LOVED the snorkeling there but it did seem a bit seedy even then. Once you're on the beach it's fine . Just pulling in and getting there was not the best.

How far of a drive from the cruise ship to sapphire ?

Thanks for any more info you offer.
