This is not going to go well. $350 for the super bowl on a ship that has a European flair sailing out of an American port. A event, that Americans consider "the holy grail of sports" between two teams, the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.
New England, the spark place of the American Revolution, Philadelphia the berth place of America. MSC wants to charge $350 per couple to watch the game in their sports bar. I hope MSC has a lot of security on hand.

Great review Cruzeluver,
Will be hopping aboard the Seaside this Saturday. Been on ~ 15 cruises Celebrity, RCL, NCL Princess and Carnival. Like you, I saw the ad and figured I would give it a try. Was getting a little concerned about all the negative reviews. The concern level has now dropped.
Thanks,
EJD

Very, very little, if any. And in any event, the Captain has so little experience steering the ship at sea (as opposed to docking), that it is left to the professionals, the Able Seamen. "Heaving to" as the Anthem did is very tricky, as you have to have a "feel" or instinct for what a wave is going to do. The optimum is to have the ship pointed into the seas at a slight angle, which will minimize both pitch and roll. Doing this, however, causes the seas to try to "throw the bow" away from being pointed into the seas. So, the helmsman needs to anticipate the wave action and yet not overcompensate and cause the ship to veer the other direction. Typically, a ship like this would have one or two helmsmen who have the experience and the instinct to do this kind of seakeeping, and they would have been on the helm all through the storm.
The Captain's expertise would have been utilized in monitoring the weather and anticipating the wind and sea changes in direction, and advising the helmsman what "base" course to steer, giving the helmsman the freedom to meet the seas as he sees fit, while keeping roughly to the Captain's heading.
Thanks for the info.

Interesting question. Would think manual to keep the ship head-on into the waves and because sea conditions/directions would change quickly.
Also don't know if navigation systems were damaged or reliable.

Very cool idea "Seeing who can lost more weight by the START of the cruise"
I believe there is a scale in the gym. I hope to drop another 6 by the start of my cruise in 3 & 1/2 weeks. Usually put on @1 LB per day on a cruise

True that

I usually take the stairs, which makes the DW crazy, she is always asking why I insist on taking the stairs, and I tell her "because I can"

Hi Guys,
Gene & Jackie here. We are booked on this cruise. Already got 1st vaccine shot, 2nd due on Feb. 10. Was like buying a ticket on Ticketron for a hot show. Just kept trying until I found an opening on one of the many sites giving it.
The DW got hers in Dec. Nursing Director at Major NJ Hospital. On the upside she says, we are now on the offensive with the battel against COVID-19. We are turning the tide. Just hang on, we can and will win this battel/war soon.
