  1. I read the cruise ship life books by Tobias Biddick while cruising last month. They were a fun read because he starts his career on the Grand Princess and that was the ship we were sailing on!

  2. I am recently off the Grand in Alaska with multiple food allergies. I cannot have any dairy (including butter, yogurt, cream, etc.), jalapeños, or walnuts. Embarkation day we ate lunch in the main dining room - I just ordered very cautiously. I think I had a salad and french fries? I inquired about talking to the MD and was told I could talk to our dining room head waiter at dinner. I met him in the dining room and he was amazing. He gave me suggestions for safe ordering for the first night and then every night after brought me the lunch and dinner menus for the next day so I could pre-order. I ordered several dishes for each meal just in case what I felt like having changed or something was gross. He also put a standing order in for breakfast and high tea for me to have allergy-safe options.

  3. I just got off the Grand on Monday and overall thought she was in fine shape. Loved having a real promenade deck to sit on and watch the world go by

We were on the same cruise!

Our room steward's supervisor was saying that there would be a lot of stateroom work done - balcony railing replaced, pipes that run along the decks repaired/replaced, new carpet and refinished furniture in the some staterooms, new tiling and bathroom fixtures in the Aloha deck accessible staterooms among other tasks. I found our stateroom A302 to be pretty tired but clean. The public areas of the ship really looked pretty great for a 20 year old ship!

  4. I am pretty sure that Star & Grand are the same and I just stayed in A302 last week on the Grand. There is a ramp onto the balcony and back inside. However, the balcony is not super deep so depending on the dimensions of the power chair you might have issues with navigating. My push chair fit ok but there wasn't much space.

Overall the stateroom is very spacious and the bathroom was very mobility friendly.

  5. So glad your daughter found items that work for her! I have gone a little Eshatki crazy over the last 6 months. I am short and round and have a hard time finding off the rack clothes that fit me right. The custom sizing is fabulous!

  6. Hello Princess Cruisers,

My husband and I are going on the Grand Princess in June for our 20th anniversary. We have been getting more healthy and fit and want to keep it up while on the ship for 10 days. I have found photos of the fitness center as well as searched through message boards but I can't find all of the information we are seeking. I have seen photos of treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, dumbbells. Can anyone who has cruised on the Grand answer some fitness center questions?

Will we find any of the following on the ship?

    • jump ropes
    • exercise bands
    • medicine balls
    • kettlebells
    • bosu balance ball
    • pullup bar
    • conditioning ropes
    • pylo boxes

Generally, what is the best time of day to use the fitness center facilities?

Thank you in advance for your help. :D
