  1. We noticed that - are booked for January and others wanted to join our group.

Several of us called and we all got different answers…..ship was sold out and website maintenance were the primary excuses. PvP was the one that said website.

We have a large group and we booked this one specifically for Havana. I hope they say something sooner rather than later so we can try to plan something else if we have to.

  2. Just did that cruise last week…..sigh take me back

Aruba - check out Lucy’s for Taco Tuesday. $5 margs and tacos were $1-$5 depending on your filling. Followed up with a relaxing sunset cruise.

Bonaire - loved this port. Not too built up yet. Took the carnival bike tour. I think it was 96 out and the bikes were ummmm challenging. That’s a one and done.

Curaçao- we had a day pass at the Marriott. Contact them direct for a much better deal than resort for the day. It poured but we still had a great time.

We had an inside in Havana so we barely left that area during the day. The staff in Havana are fantastic.

Food was ok. Go to Jiji’s early in the week for lunch. Last two sea days they were on huge waits to get in.

  3. For my 7 day cruise I paid gratuity of $65 and change on the cheers package.

To make it easy that is roughly $10 a day and I drink 9-10 drinks per day. My drinks cost $10-14 per drink and if I did not add more I would feel I was not tipping appropriately as would be around a 10% tip in consideration of the price of the drink.

I do not add additional tips to bottles of water or canned beverages.

  4. Recently visited La Romana on the Carnival Horizon. I wanted to paddle board in 2017 on a previous trip there but a rotator cuff injury changed my plans.

Fast forward to 2019 and I found the same company I wanted to book in '17 was still up and running with continued great reviews. We reached out to Bayahibe Sup and was promptly responded to by the owner Mari. Our excursion was set up quickly and no money was requested up front. Mari arranged the transportation as well and the costs were reasonable. Future correspondence was responded to quickly and we waited anxiously for our cruise.

The day of the excursion was bright and sunny with a warm breeze. Transportation went off without a hitch and we found ourselves in the relaxed village of Bayahibe. Another couple that had booked the tour was unable to make it so we had a personal tour for no additional cost. Equipment was well cared for and our guide was Mari the owner of the company. Mari is from Sweden and is a sweetheart. She knows the reefs and guided us safely through the marina and more shallow areas. We paddle boarded for approximately an hour where we at stopped a secluded beach for a snack, water and fruit that Mari had prepared. Mari walked the beach…all the while picking up refuse. You can tell she cares deeply about the environment and residents of the island. After a rest we returned to the village. Return to the port was easy and under 15 minutes. Mari surprised us by taking photos and e-mailed them to us for no fee.

Will definitely consider another tour with Mari in the future.

  5. Hmmm that is interesting. I was on the pride in October and ordered a robe. It did not come until the last night and the steward told dh they were out of the one I wanted but brought me another one that was “better”. Took one look at it and said no thanks - definitely not the same quality.

  6. We had had a boozy day in New Orleans and when we returned to the ship my husband and I feel asleep. Hours later my husband woke me up with "if you ever wanted to see the sun rising over the Mississippi now is the time." I looked out the window and it was a street lamp right next to us - we were still tied up at the pier. He did not have his contacts in.....we still laugh about that one.

  7. I think the low deposits are leading to some of the higher prices. Think about it......more people book because it's such a great deal so the ship looks fuller equating to the appearance of higher demand. Then there is a small deduction in the fare.....people request the price protection but they then usually have to cough up the balance of a full deposit. The marketing is pretty brilliant.
