  1. We were on this cruise last year.  FYI we had 10 days and 10 nights of rain.  This is not the Carribean where it rains for an hour.  Nobody cares what you wear.  Don't think that because you spent a lot of money for this cruise that people dress up.  Wrong.  I'd be hard pressed to visualize anyone wearing anything more than they would if they were on one of the big F..tubs.   Everything was informal.  For the reservation restaurants it was dressy casual.  but no-one even said that.  Wear what you would at home going out to a nice restaurant.  And if it rains.  keep an accurate account of all the excursions canceled to get your money back.  It took us two months.

Hope it is sunny.  Have fun!

  2. My husband and I are well, thank you all for your wishes.

Yesterday they ran out of bottled water, replaced later that day and we haven’t had fresh lemons for a while.

Today we returned to cabin to find silver trays removed and baskets from the bathroom.

If this ship isnt clean for you all when you embark,I will be very upset.

I am observing staff in some bars, using their whole hand to put small straws in drinks.Yuk!

The wi fi is ok and once connected,it is a bit slow but works ok.I can FaceTime my children ok.

Are you sure you are on Marina not Carnival??

  3. The restaurants and tenders are all being steam/chemically cleaned.

Suddenly all the waters by the disembarkation platform are covered. You are not allowed to take one yourself. Also tender tickets are now disposable (that caught out a few selfish people who store them up and use them to get early tenders)!

Not sure why they have left this so long, surely if they are following any code of practice for this,it should have been brought in earlier...

Disappointed yesterday to be given a dirty glass,a teacup with a dried rim of coffee inside, milk jug that clearly had old milk on,all curdled and a tablecloth that was only fit for polishing the floor!

I do try had see things positive but it’s wearing thin now..

Still we have continual, non cleaning use of umbrellas, slot machines and outdoor games.Just don’t understand it..

Things are slacking as time goes on and the staff are obviously miserable. Its good to be able to leave the ship daytime...

So much for our first small, luxury cruise on Saturday. Hope you are feeling well.

  4. Yesterday we were notified that the incidence of ‘gastric’ problems had reduced ‘drastically’.We cannot see us getting back to normal before we disembark as the deep clean will follow in Papeete. The dining rooms, public rooms and tenders are already being ‘fumigated’ as we call it.Sprayed with some chemicals and steam cleaned.

All outside gams still being used.Golf, ping pong, tennis and croquet. No one is cleaning them after use...

Anyone embarking in Papeete, please bear with them.It is so much better to get on late than to go through this..

Meanwhile life goes on and we have had two beautiful days in Fakarava and Rangiroa...Today is Bora Bora.

Thank you for your info. So helpful.. We got notice today from the cruise line telling us much of what you said. So now we have to figure out where to collapse after a night on Tahiti Air. Landing early in the a.m.

    Enjoy what you can.! Thanks.

  5. We are on the 2/3/18 Papeete cruise and I'm wondering if my husband needs to bring a sport coat for the dinner restaurants.

I realize dress pants and shoes are required, but can he get by with button down collared dress shirts and no jacket?

No Jacket no tie. That's what i've been told. I'm packed and they're not in the luggage.

  6. We are on Marina at the moment and I wrote on my half cruise comments sheet that I was disappointed that hardly anyone uses hand sanitizers, public areas or wipes (in the gym).On all the other cruise lines that we have been on,there is always a member of staff prompting people to do so.I was told that this company treats adults like adults and expects them to do it themselves.Well clearly they are not.Now what?? No salt and pepper pots, paper menus etc etc..and people still not taking any precautions that may have some effect.

Too bad !!! Just heard that the Marina has many people sick on the ship. We will be boarding On Feb 3. What's your take.??

  7. Hi all. We are just back from the Baltic Cruise on Marina. A couple of things I think might be helpful if you are sailing on her. We were in concierge level cabin for the purpose of this thread. There are both U.S plugs and European plugs in the cabin. I had brought my own multi charger battery so that helped. There is one set of outlets U.S. at the desk (2 individual plugs) one useable plug at the tv and one in the bathroom if you take out the nite light. Apparently if you want another type of diet drink other than just Diet Coke, like Sprite Zero or diet gingerale in your refrigerator you have to request this well in advance of your sailing. They do have soy milk on board but would not provide coffeemate for me even when requested in advance. We were not able to add any extra dinner reservations for the specialty restaurants for more than once. We were on waiting lists but never able to get one. We even requested to add 2 people to an existing reservation and they couldn't do that. We were able to add the 4th reservation to the one restaurant that I did not book in advance. There is a self laundry on every cabin deck. The cost is $2 per machine. So $4 to wash and dry a load. The detergent is included and is located where the machines are. You purchase coins but be careful where you put them in on the machines as where you put them in on the washer and dryer are right next to each other. The dryer I used didn't quite dry everything. I used the tub shower all the time because the regular shower is way to small. Think put bar of soap on wall and rotate to clean. No way or room to shave legs unless you are a contortionist. The bath shower was perfect. There is a hidden drawer in the bathroom right next to where they hang the hand towels. Baristas closes at 6 no exceptions. Disembarkation in Southampton was a nightmare as British immigration insisted on face to face passport inspection on the ship in the Marina lounge. The line weeny out The door and into the reception area. It was mostly due to the fact that the passengers did not listen to be called down for their inspection and instead got in line out of turn. So it's important to not get in line until your color code and number or call. If you fly out of Heathrow be aware that they will not let you check your luggage until two hours before your flight. So if you get to the airport early you essentially have to sit around with your baggage. These are just a few of my thoughts. If you have any particular questions please ask them and I will be very glad to answer any of them that I can. All in all we had a wonderful cruise, great weather, great ports of call. We also met quite a few very nice people, one couple we even hope to stay in touch with. Moral of this story is to share tables whenever possible when dining. They were also quite a few older people on this cruise as well. One gentleman we dined with was in World War II. One more thing, one of my friends on board went to get her hair washed and blow dried. The hairstylist did a wonderful job however at the end when she went to pay he pressured her for an additional Gratuity in addition to the standard 18% standard add on as he said this did not include a tip for him. Even though she questioned him about the 18% add-on. She felt embarrassed and left an additional tip. So a wash and blow dry ended up being around $80. When she thought about it she went down to the reception desk and inquired about whether indeed the 18% included the gratuity and was told it did. She explained what happened and they told her to take it up with spa Canyon Ranch as they had nothing to do with them. She told them that she was a passenger on their ship and that they should advocate for her but they refused to do so. She called the manager at the salon and was told that the 18% plus any additional gratuity is all the salary that the stylist get. So please be aware when using the spa Canyon Ranch of these concerns. Wow this turned out to be a lot longer than I thought it was going to be so I'll and here.

    Thanks. Helpful post.

  8. This is the first time we've used Oceania air. Our TA sent us confirmation that our flights have been ticketed, and we have the record locator number. We are on American Airlines. I went on the American website, and I can't figure out how to add these flights to my account. Can anyone help?

We booked through Life on Oceana. The tickets were booked a week ago or so. But, yesterday I finally found that they were confirmed by looking in my United account. They were there but I have no control to change my seats until next week or so. My TA said he will get early ticketing for me if he can. then I can mange my res by myself. Hope this helps.
