You are very welcome!  🙂  Yes, there will be taxis at port.  There is usually someone right at the end of the pier and you can either arrange tours or just let them know where you want to go and they will direct you.  As for waiting at the beaches, when we were at Cockleshell in 2013, there was another couple that ended up going there too so we all agreed on a time to leave and our driver actually waited.  I believe we were there for about 3 hours.  When we were at Shipwreck in 2015, we arranged a pick up time and our driver was there exactly when he said he would be.  If you are on a tour and wanted to leave earlier, that might be something you can arrange with the tour operator.  If not, I don't think it would be a problem to find a taxi back to port since those beaches are popular with cruise passengers.  If worse would come to worse, I'm sure you could always have someone working at the restaurant/bars call a cab - at least that's what we would do.

Fantastic!! You have been most helpful!

Cockleshell, yes, it's $28.00, per cab/each way to/from.  The cost is split among passengers, depending on the number of people.  So yes, $14.00 pp/each way if just 2 of you.  Normally when you get a taxi from the port, they will wait for the taxis (mostly vans) to fill first, which it will bring the total number to 4+ people, which will bring the charge down to $7.00 pp/ each way.  Even if there are 10 people, they will still charge each person $7.00.  The trip is about 30 minutes to get there.

Carambola (South Friar's Bay), yes, only $4 pp/each way.  That's what we paid on our second visit to St. Kitts.  We went to Shipwreck, same beach just opposite ends.  It's only about 15 minutes from port.  Be sure to have your driver stop at the Timothy Hill overlook which has great views where you can see both the Caribbean and Atlantic.  If you go to Carambola, be sure to take a walk down towards Shipwreck to see the black sand, if that's something that interests you.  It's only about a 10 minute walk.  Have a great time!

Are there taxis right at the port, and then are there taxis waiting at the beach(es)? I don't think we want to get stuck at a beach for four or more  hours if we book a tour. We would like to go to Timothy Hill for sure. Thanks for your help!

  3. Check your booking, what arrival time did you choose? They won't let you into the terminal until then.

We are Platinum with Carnival so we can board right after the VIPs and wedding parties.

I guess my question should have been "how soon can we get our car parked, or when do they open the garage to let cars in"

  4. We are about to book a Carnival Cruise and I decided to check VIPF to see if we have any loyalty offers.....to my surprise, they are showing that I have no previous cruises but that my husband has 3 (post 2000).....we have always cruised together and have taken a number of Carnival Cruises prior to 2000...how does one go about getting credit for those cruises? It says to send a note with your past booking numbers but I don't have any of those!?

    Thanks in advance!!!

Send in copies of ANYTHING you have to prove that you were on previous cruises. Embarkation or any other photos, sail and sign info, proof of cruise payment, etc. Your past guest number will not be the same as your husband's.

You are the only one who can determine if this is worth pursuing.

  5. Thanks, it looks like I'll have to call. Either they fit more than 2 people per room or are already booked for next year. Are there no connecting balcony cabins? Maybe it's just the ship I chose for next year doesn't seem to have any.

Curious.. what ship are you looking at? We were on a Spirit class ship a couple of years ago and had connecting cabins and were able to have the balcony divider opened!! It was great:)

  6. We are getting ready to book our vacation on the Fascination for the 7 night cruise in May. Going on the trip are me, DH, DD 6, and my parents. This will be the 3rd cruise for the 5 of us. In the past, DH, DD & I have gotten a balcony room with the parents an interior right across the hall. We want to do the same setup on this cruise which is hard due to lack of balconies. We are looking at a Jr. Suite forward on the Veranda deck, same deck as Camp Carnival, and an interior across the hall. However, to do this, we would have to book 2 people in the suite and 3 in the interior room across the hall because the interior room has an occupancy restriction that requires 3+ passengers.

I know we can ask the room steward to make up the sofa bed in the suite for our DD, but she will officially be booked in the interior room. Will we be able to change her card so it will be able to unlock the suite? This has been so convenient because when my parents watch her, they can use her card to access our room with her stuff it in. What do you think?

All you have to do is go to Guest Services and ask for an extra key to your cabin, easy peasy!!

  7. We have booked room 2392 on the dream for May 18th 2014.

    My sister-in-law has booked 2396.

Can you remove the dividers between the balconies on these 2 rooms.

    Thanks

    Tania

Doesn't look like it, but the cabins connect

  8. Anyone with info on cabins 8459 and 8461 on the Liberty would appreciate getting a definite answer whether or not the balcony dividers open up or can they remove them? I see a post from 2007 where someone said they physically removed the panel between both balconies and had it stored somewhere?

Bummer. It might have to do with the divider blocking the cabin door out to the balcony.

  9. I am seeing many posts here referring to folks booking aft balcony. Any reason for that? I booked a midship Balcony on the Conquest on the Empress(7) deck. Did I do anything wrong?

We have always had midship balconies on decks 6 or 7 and have been just fine with them.

I don't understand all the hype about the aft balconies but everyone seems to enjoy different things during their cruises.

IMO midship on Conquest Empress is the way to go. We did one aft, and weren't all that impressed. The balcony felt more cramped to us than a regular balcony. Part of that may have been due to the fact that we usually cruise with my DB and SIL and book cabins so that we can have the divider opened to have one large balcony.

Like riffatsea said though, everyone enjoys different things on their cruises. If the price is right, you may want to try an aft sometime. For us, the aft-lovers can keep their afts!

  10. I would like to print labels to stick on our luggage tags so that I don't have to spend time filling out the info by hand. Who can tell me what info is requested? Hate thinking about the last day :(-but want to have as much fun time as possible! :)

    Here are my thoughts...

If you are flying after your cruise, list your name, airline and flight#. If you're staying at a hotel the night of debarkation, list that information. That way, if for some reason your luggage is not in the baggage claim area when you go to retrieve it, at least they would know where it's supposed to be going.

  11. Thanks so much for the comments. :)

Um, hmmm...well they always allow you to smoke on one side and the other side is non-smoking. From what I can remember, I'm pretty sure I seen some people standing back there smoking when we went back to see the jets go by, but of course they were on the smoking side of the ship. I don't recall seeing any ash trays though. So I'm not really sure if that was a smoking area or not or people just happen to be smoking there.

    Thanks.

  12. Thanks everyone for posting your thoughts & experiences. It is very much appreciated. My husband just took me out for fish & chips for dinner and I'm going to go lay down, food coma time. I look forward to reading more in the morning.

My DB and SIL renewed their vows for their 40th anniversary two years ago on the Pride. Not sure what package they ordered or what it cost. Captain officiated in the chapel. They may have signed some log book on the ship and/or got a "renewal license". I served as matron of honor and my hubby was best man. Photographer took pictures of the ceremony and some inside and outside on the deck. Champagne and cake. Glad they did it on day 3 of a 7-day cruise. We ate that cake the rest of the cruise at dessert!! Oh, but that cake was SO GOOD!!

  13. I hate to ask this, really.

My friend just got off Dream Saturday, found out Lido is now no smoking.

When did this start? She and others were upset because of it as they were unaware of it.

Bummer!! We were on the Magic in May and could smoke on Lido deck, aft, port side. (same deck as the bar, hot tub and pool) Why would it be different on the Dream?

  14. We stayed there in May, and would not hesitate to book again. Remember that this is a Motel not a Hotel. Friendly staff, rooms were clean. Free breakfast. The gals in the kitchen worked their butts off to please the guests.

Only (very minor) "complaint" is that there are no hair dryers in the rooms.

  15. Just off the Splendor last week. Ordered a bottle of wine the first night. On the second night at dinner, one of the servers brought a cheese plate shortly after we sat down even though we didn't order one. Spoke with Dessi, our Maitre 'd, about it. She told me that she has instructed her staff to provide a cheese tray whenever a bottle of wine is ordered. What a nice touch it was. I never understood the wine and cheese thing:o, but now I do:). THANK YOU, DESSI!!!:D

  16. Well we did it...we booked an aft wrap. When I went back in a few minutes later the room I wanted was available. Anyone have pics of E238 on the Sensation? We booked it for a quickie 3 day cruise so we can test it out. First balcony so we shall see! Thanks for all your help guys!

Glad things worked out. Congrats!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

There's a website somewhere that people are posting actual photos of cabins, but of course now I can't find it:mad:
