  1. Good Morning -- We depart on the Apex this Saturday and DH has booked a small group scuba excursion through Celebrity in Grand Cayman. Has anyone done this excursion and can provide a review, or a similar excursion through another cruise line? Also, it states wetsuit not provided but doesn't mention if there will be any available for rent or if so, the cost etc.,. This lack of information has my DH questioning if he wants to cancel his reservation, so hoping someone here can advise of any personal experiences. Thanks in advance!!

  3. Thanks everyone for your posts. It is in fact a GTY SV, so I think it's the scenario where we'd end up in an open IV, whether that be prime, concierge or aqua, so for now my TA and I both agree I'm going to wait on booking and watch to see if a cabin we actually want to select becomes available. This is what I did for our recent Edge sailing in January and it worked out, if not we'll select a different ship and itinerary. Happy Cruising, all!!

It's not a GTY SV. There is a lot of misunderstanding about Celebrity groups. The TA also sounds confused. The TA can see which cabins are open. I'm not sure why they would have told you that.

Example: If there are 20 SV cabins, 15 are sold to customers who sold through booked through Celebrity. If the TA held 5 SV cabins in a group, there would be no more available inventory. There are 5 cabins open but technically they are allocated since 15 customers booked and the TA is holding the other 5. You could choose any of the 5 that the TA holds. That's somewhat of an over-simplified explanation. For this type of group the TA is not holding specific cabin numbers. They are just holding a predetermined number of cabins within a category.

Thanks for the explanation... I don't know if she's confused or not, but says she can't see them just that it states there are 5 available and she can't tell which ones or which deck they would be on.

Ah, That I have seen.  And there's a HUGE caveat.

Celebrity does offer Sunset Veranda GTY rooms.  The issue I've seen here on Cruise Critic is that on paper, a Prime Infinite Veranda, as well as Concierge and Aqua Class are all considered to be categories that are "higher" than a Sunset Veranda.  Anytime you book a GTY room you're promised that category OR HIGHER.  So, you could easily book the Sunset Veranda GTY, and end up in an infinite veranda room, which is presumably not what you're wanting.

Correct, I definitely do not want to end up in one of the IVs

I would be asking the TA those questions.  😊

Unfortunately I did ask the questions and was told "I have no clue." Which is even more unusual... It's a sunset veranda room on an E class ship, I have never seen a situation where those are sold in a "GTY" cabin, typically I've seen that in the IVs, Aquas, Concierge and Suite, but not typically the SV...

  7. Good Afternoon I'm booking a future cruise and my TA has said she has 5 cabins in a "group" but when I check X's website for that itinerary I'm not seeing cabins of that category showing available. I asked how that gets assigned or how do we know which cabin we'll be in and was told they don't know. Which seems strange to me, we've used this TA for years and never experienced this before, although I have to assume we've had group rate reservations before just in lower pricing than advertised by X. Has anyone had a similar experience that could say how it went? Is the reservation considered a guaranteed room in that category and it's assigned later or will it be immediately assigned out of the group? It seems unusual they are unable to see which cabins are assigned to the group and worry it may mean it's overbooked. Would appreciate any feedback.

  8. With Anytime dining your actual table may change, but typically you are still assigned a particular waiter's section. You can show up anytime between 5:30-9:30 p.m. and do not require a reservation. If you do prefer to have a reservation time instead, which would likely allow for the same table each night, I believe you are able to make them when you board.

I can't comment on the thermal spa, unfortunately.

I hope this helps! Enjoy your cruise. We are going on the Edge in January, we've only sailed SClass in the past. I hope you'll report back your experience!

  9. Hello everyone, we've always sailed in aft balcony cabins without trouble, we have noticed some vibration but overall been ok. We are interested in giving a sunset balcony a try but had read there is "a lot of vibration and ship movement feeling." I am curious if that's just overall when in an aft cabin or if there is a significant increase in vibration and movement feel in the sunset balcony cabin. Has anyone sailed in both and can advise?

  10. Is anyone on board willing to check on the La Petite menu schedule and whether it is the same for every Reflection sailing? We are on boarding 4/2-4/9 and curious the schedule for the original La Petite menu vs the La Petite and Friends menu.

    Thank you in advance!

We were on the Reflection's 1/29 sailing.  The did the original menu the beginning of the week and the Friends menu later in the week.  I don't see how they could do both at the same time.

Exactly right, they won't do it at the same time because the show follows the menu. My only concern was that the app is no longer showing the 2 different menus alternating over the week and so I just want to make sure it's still an option that people are seeing while on board. If it is running the original menu during the beginning of the week would be even better for us because we have the speciality dining package and will need to use one on night 1 or 2.

The two 16 year olds we are taking on their first cruise are very much looking forward to this speciality dining; we are excited for them to experience La Petite as a concept, but really hope to get to eat the original menu and not the La Petite and Friends menu after being lucky enough to experience them both.

  12. Enjoy your cruise...I hope we are as fortunate when we board on 4/2. Are you able to check if La Petite has an alternating menu over the course of the sailing? In the past there were 2 different menus/shows, and then also an "alternate" menu that could be substituted in general on either menu. We are most interested in the show and menu pairing that isn't the La Petite and Friends menu and show and just want to make sure it'll be available for our cruise in a month. Thanks in advance if you look into it. 😄

  13. We sail on the 4/2-4/9 Reflection itinerary and intend on dining in La Petite while on board. Two weeks ago the app showed both the La Petite and Friends menu on nights 1-4 and then the original La Petite menu, which we prefer, with bouillabaisse and filet for nights 5-7. Now the app is no longer showing the preferred menu on nights 5-7, but also isn't showing the Friends menu either. Is there anyone that has sailed recently or is on board the reflection that can say if they will be having both menus going forward and if it follows the same schedule for when it alternates like was previously showing on the app? I had also read that they may have reduced the # of seatings per night for La Petite and this causes some concern as well.

  14. Good Afternoon, we arrive back to port on 4/9 and typically we'd fly out of FLL or Miami, but I'm having difficulty locating flights that work for us. If our flight was scheduled to depart from PBI (West Palm Beach) at 12:45/12:55 p.m. do you think we'd have enough time to debark and be picked up by our transfer and make it there with enough time? I don't have any experience with PBI or how busy it may be and how soon in advance we'd really need to be there to get through security. Thanks in advance for any advice!!
