  1. Does anyone know what the earliest time you can drop luggage off at terminal 10 for NCL on the day of your cruise? We are driving down and have some family flying into Orlando, then renting a car to get to the hotel the night before. Our van will easily accommodate all of the people going to the port, but not the luggage. Trying to figure out if I can load all the luggage in our van to go to the port at like 8 am while my dad takes the rental car back. I would then pick him up and go back to the hotel to get the entire party. Our goal is to get to the terminal with everyone during our 9-9:30 check in window (I know we can’t board until later, but it’s much easier to wait with a seat than stand). We have two small kids (3 and 7mo) so dropping them off at the port with mom and grandma to wrangle the carry ons associated with kids would be difficult while we take the rental back. Plus my oldest would not let dad and grandpa go somewhere without him. Any info would be appreciated.

  2. We are sailing with our 7mo(will be 8mo at the time of sailing). I went ahead and submitted the special request form to bring water for making formula bottles a while back. Printed our cruise documents this morning and their tagged liquids approved. Does anyone have any experience with this? I don’t want to have to carry the water on if I don’t have to, so hoping it can go in as checked luggage. Last thing I want to do is lug around a case of water until our rooms our ready.

We were on the 1/28 sailing. The Guinness gravity tap was not working. According to the bartender Syg, they are having trouble getting the gas to power it. Probably 30% taps closed. Still plenty of selection and Syg and Dr. Z are great. Watched the NFL championship games there. They have a snack type menu that is ala carte. We didn't order anything to eat but there were bar snack mix.

We are good friends with a local larger brewery owner/brew master and he said that CO2 is a huge issue right now for beer. Nitrogen is even worse apparently. Sounds like they’re pushing the CO2 to the largest consumers and with beer/soda being on the lower end, they don’t get the quantities

  4. We found this out shortly after booking and wasn’t the happiest either. We are sailing in March with our two sons , 3yo and 8mo(at the time of sailing), and was hoping for some parents only time. Luckily my parents and their friends who are like aunt/uncle to me and my kids are on the sailing as well, hopefully we will be able to break away for some much needed parent time.

We sailed with our oldest while my wife was pregnant back in February this year on Royal. They offered under 3 childcare at a fee during the day, you just had to prebook the 2 hour windows and pay a nominal $6-7 for each window. The timing wasn’t always the best, but gave us a great opportunity to have a date night on the ship and get that feeling of what cruising was like pre-kids. Really wish NCL had something similar.

I’m not a rum drinker, but saw some folks drinking it on the Getaway at the Syd Norman’s outside bar.

BTW….given you’re a bourbon drinker, they have Buffalo Trace on board, which is my “go to” bourbon (when I can find it at home).

Buffalo trace and Blantons are my usual go to as well, but living in SC you can’t find it. One of my friends passes through once every couple months coming from his girlfriends place outside Atlanta and brings me a stockpile…happy to hear it’ll be an option on the boat

  6. So we booked our first NCL cruise on the escape in March 23. Typically my wife and I have always been loyal to Royal, but after the worst cruise experience ever in February when we took our toddler on his first cruise, we booked a multigenerational cruise with family for next March. That being said, I’m a big bourbon guy but every cruise I seem to resort to a Kracken and Coke Zero for my go to drink or a rum drink by the pool. Looking at the breakdown for the beverage package, I don’t see Kracken listed. Anyone know if it’s available on NCL or am I stuck with horrific college flashbacks to Captain and Coke…yes there’s a sorry and no I’m not telling.

  7. So this is our first time on Carnival and we booked faster to the fun. My mother-in-law is traveling with us, but booked very recently after Faster to the Fun was already sold out. She is riding down to the port with us in our car, I was curious if they would give us any issue if she boards with us. I don't want to see her having to sit and wait without us when we get to board. Our room reservation is for 3 as our infant son will be taking his first cruise (main reason Grandma is coming along) so I would hope if shes helping us lug the baby stuff along they would allow her to board. Has anyone else had this type of situation?

  8. This November my wife and I will be bringing our son on his first cruise. He will be 9 months old at the time of the sailing and we are worried about getting stuck at the Magens Bay with him getting fussy taking a standard excursion. Plus side is we will have a party of 7 total including the little man, with both grandmothers coming and a close family friend to help with care for him onboard. We are hoping to not break the bank and so far all of the private tours I have found searching around are $125 a person.

Also would like some input on car rental if any of you have done it. Not sure if they offer car seat rental like the rental companies do at airports.

Overall we just want to have the flexibility to come and go from the beach on the little man's schedule.

  9. My wife and I are in our mid and late 20s, she’s 26 and I’m 29. We are cruising Oasis November 25th as her 2nd Cruise and my 3rd.

Our go to drinks vary depending on what we are doing, we love to drink rum runners by the pool. I’m a Big bourbon guy so I’ll grab a higher end Bourbon neat for dinner, she’s a big dry red wine drinker so that’s her late night go to. We also always start the day with mimosas. We never pass up a chance to try the drink of the day or ask for something we’ve seen others order to try something new. Royal does a great job with the fruity and frozen drinks I’d typically not order unless on a beach or vacation. My wife favorite drink on the ship was a habenero grapefruit daiquiri that they serve at the schrooner bar, it’s amazing and worth a try.

Also it’s awesome to see other young people cruising. Too often we are the minority on ships and feel RCCL hasn’t shifted to cater towards our demographic much yet. But even with that we love cruising and caught the bug. Already booked 2 sailings for next year, one to Cuba in May and a 2nd over Christmas with all our family. Hope you enjoy your trip, the alcohol package definitely makes it more fun.

  10. Does anyone know if you can bring your own skates? I know it’s an odd question, but I have oddly sized feet(super narrow land large) and last time I tried skating on a RC ship the skates fit me horribly so skating was miserable. We are driving to our cruise in November so not concerned about added packing space.

  11. I am looking to book a beach bed for our cruise in November. We are traveling with my wife's father and step mom as well. Do you just book a bed for one person then you can get 4 wrist bands or do you have to tie all 4 people to the reservation like the other excursions. When I went to put all 4 people in, it was charging me like it was 4 beds. Just trying to clarify this so I know how to book early enough to get this on our sailing.

  12. This is going to sound like a rather odd question. On our last cruise we were on Adventure of the Seas out of Puerto Rico last fall, the Schooner Bar had this Habanero Grapefruit Martini (I believe it was a martini) on the menu. My wife absolutely loved it, to the point I have to now go about once every other month buy a bottle of Titos and infuse it with habanero for her to make a close replica. Coincidently found out no liquor stores in the Charlotte, NC area stock/or can get a Habenero vodka. Does anyone know if they still make this drink on the ship, she has been looking forward to it for months now? We sail out on Oasis on November 25th.

  13. Just an FYI to everyone coming in early

I booked my hotel prior to the hurricane, confirmed it a couple weeks back and today received an email from what appeared to be expeida, email and everything looked legitimate (booked the hotel through Expedia to save $25 for the night at the San Juan airport hotel), stating my hotel accommodations could no longer be honored and to call a number given in the email along with a whole group for every country making it seem more legitimate. I called it seemed odd because someone answered immediately with no automation after selecting language. The connection was crappy and I couldn’t really hear the person on the other line, so I hung up and decided to called the hotel directly. They confirmed my reservation, so I then contacted expeida through their customer service number on their website. Turns out this has become a common issue following the hurricane with reservations made through online booking companies. They believe the information is being sold to credit card phishing schemes. I am incredibly protective of my card info and if it wasn’t for the spotty connection the likelihood of getting caught by the scheme was high because I didn’t think anything of it and was panicking because I fly out Friday morning.

Watch out for emails like this in the coming days if you booked through the online hotel retailers as you may be getting an email as well.
