  1. Sensible people - PLEASE, I beg you to leave this thread die.

This a textbook example of an agitator and a troll. The OP has not bothered to post a second post and this pittiful thread lives on with 10000 views.

She is sure getting her moneys’ worth.

Most of the replies here have no longer anything to do with the original topic.

Please - do not give this imposter any more advertisement and let this thread slowly disappear from page 1. That is, unless we hear more explanations from OP.

    Thank you

I am new to this forum and I have noticed that this happens a lot. I don’t get why they do this.

  2. It means your boarding pass and luggage tags are available to be printed. In the past, the cruise documents used to be delivered by DHL or UPS or Fed-Ex delivery people - their arrival brought great excitement to this household, as I'm sure it did many others as well. Now that paper documents have been eliminated, they are now placed on HAL's website and can be accessed electronically - thus E-docs; not quite the same, but it means your cruise is a little bit closer!

    Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

  3. Well, I'm afraid it's one of 2 things, if you don't want to play the game.... don't play! It's your choice, really it is. If you want a spesific cabin... call, offer to pay for it, otherwise, stop bidding! It's NCL's game now. If you don't treat it as a game... you have no chance of winning... sorry...:(

Wow you do know I was joking when I said that right? Sheesh

I am very well aware its a game and there are no guarantees.

Also, I am a first timer and booked a cabin I no longer wanted and tried to upgrade it. They told me since they no longer offered the same promo (3&4 free, my kids 2 &10) I would lose that promotion and end up paying a whole lot more. So I figured this would be a good way to get the cabin I wanted. If I don’t get it, I won’t slit my wrist or lose any sleep. It would be nice though. I’m just as anxious and everyone else waiting for a response on this bid. So you can have a drink and relax!

  4. Roaming is potentially any time your cellphone is connected to the ships or another countrys or even regions cell network. Depends on your plan and your phone settings - if it automatically connects to strongest signal you could be paying through the nose for 'cellular at sea' before the ship even leaves the dock; if you manually select the provider you could be cruising along the coast and still able to get your 'home' network. Cruiseships usually don't have the 'cell at sea' turned on at the docks, but the exact time they turn it on and off will vary in every port.

Not knowing your phone provider, phone model, OS, data plan or your cruise route all I can suggest is to contact your provider and ask them - get it straight from the horses mouth about whether they have a plan you could change to, or an add-on you could pay a fee for, that will let you get 'home' privileges in your various ports if that's something you want. At sea proper the only available option is the 'tower' onboard the ship so be sure to turn off any auto-connect Roaming options on your phone!

Also, if you do plan to use your phone even for WiFi access only in ports, be aware of the time settings - often the default is to swap to the time zone that the WiFi access point or cell signal is using. If you have a watch for timekeeping, no worries - but if you use your phone as a clock and it changes in port you may end up arriving back at the dock after the ship left and a whole world of hurt opens up for you! Not a super common scenario of course, but sounds like you are a first timer so a potentially very handy thing to be made aware of!!!

Yes I am first timer. I actually did call AT&T to find out if they have a cruise package and they do not but they said I can use it at the port for $10 a day. Thank you for your advice about the time issue.

  5. It is once the ship is far enough from land that it can no longer connect to the cellular towers. If you disable roaming; it will stop working once you are out of range.

  6. I sail March 3rd and I have am still waiting for a response. There is lots of helpful information on the bidding process online.

Just know that it is a wait and see game(not guaranteed) decision can be made up to 2 days before sailing.

  7. At what point does roaming charges kick in? Is it once you board the ship or once they sail away? I will not be getting the Internet packages but I would like to post a few pics from the ship on social media before I sail off.

    Thanks in advance
